Day 292 — Octonado mingle!
[Thunderbolt and lightning—very, very frightening.

Take cover, take shelter, take heart. You'll need to take everything you can just to make it through today with so few areas really being safe.]

(OOC: DETAILS here. Mingle out and about in the rapidly changing elements or cozy in one of the shelters.)

Haruka shrugs. She'd like it to be a modest shrug except, well...she doesn't actually know how to do modesty. These are her abilities. Nothing anybody can change about that. "Winning isn't everything."

She'll cheer Sarah on regardless. Competing against oneself is more important than beating other people, anyway.

Hope you don't mind the hand waiving. Can change if you'd like.

Her next run goes better. Eight pins over the course of two throws. Still, by the time the game is over, Sarah came out far below her competitor. She didn't care that much. It was fun.

Haruka couldn't agree more - and it's not because she won, no. She flicks the "scorecard" across the table at Sarah and sticks a hand in her pockets. "You did well," she summarizes, looking over towards their barricade. Is it still raining outside, she wonders. Er. Octopus-ing. (This place, seriously.)

Sarah shrugs. "Thanks. You too."

She follows Haruka's gaze to the barricade. "Think it's safe to go out yet?"

Haruka's looking into that now. She has to squint since it's still overcast, but...

"There's fewer tentacles," she ventures, unwilling to say they're completely out of the woods but thinking they stand a decent chance of rejoining society. "We could risk it if we run."

"You think?" Sarah looks out too and nods after a moment. "I can run."

Thinking about this for a long moment, Haruka nods and begins removing items from their barricade. She'll focus just on clearing enough room to get through one of the doors - no point in taking down the whole thing if all they need to do is slip out. "I'll hold you to that."

Ready to see what's out there?

Sarah helps move aside what they need to and peers out. "Looks like rain..." she comments. But she doesn't see any more squids. At least not at the moment. "I'm ready."

In that case, Haruka braces herself and pushes open the door. "Then here we go."

Free at last. Potentially. Hopefully. Probably.

The rain is still heavy, but it seems they're able to make it to one of the safe houses without too much incident, other than getting sopping wet. Once there, Sarah turns to her companion. "Thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you."

Set her own pins up, perhaps? But Haruka knows that's not what Sarah means. She shrugs, but smiles. "You'd have figured something out.

"Dry off, kitten," she advises - hopefully there's towels here somewhere, and if Sarah doesn't mind Haruka taking her leave, she might go look for them and then head back out into the storm. The girl should be fine on her own now, and Haruka doesn't much care about "safe houses". She'd rather assess the danger while she can. "I'll see you."
