That's a nice, general way of putting it. Shrugging, Haruka takes stock of the bowling alley. Was there a snack bar here, again...? Who knows how long they'll be barricaded. It's best to have an accurate count of their resources. "Sort of. Check for leaks around the building."

And that's apparently all she has to say on the subject. Further explanation takes a backseat to dealing with present danger.

	Sarah has questions. Lots of questions. But then Haruka stops her in her tracks and tells her to go do something. Sarah nods and takes a look while Haruka finds the snack stuff. ... She'd never been behind the pin setters before. It was actually really neat... and kind of creepy back here. Checking for leaks was forgotten as she examined the various machines. There's not much they'll be able to prepare for themselves with only the backup electricity functional, but Haruka knows she'll make do if she has to. Ideally this will only last a day, but she doesn't want to get too complacent. It'd be just like the Wardens to set up an established schedule only to further torment everyone by diverging from it.

Right, supplies, check. Companion....now where did she get to. Haruka wanders around the place until she finally finds Sarah peering at the machinery.

"Don't tell me you're a mechanic too," she offers. At this rate she'll have a whole garage.

	Sarah turns looking a little confused. "A mechanic? No! I just wanted to see how they work. There's ever so many things back here." She remembers she's supposed to be doing something. "There's food," Haruka replies, as if that makes everything better. As shelters go, this bowling alley isn't bad. Hey, if the electricity fully worked, they could even pass the time....

....no, she can't see herself bowling while everything in the dome got splattered with octopi and waterspouts. Haruka steps past the lane machinery to finish her tour of the premises. This is going to be a long....however long this takes.

But she's not going to panic, or jump to conclusions, no matter how suspiciously often she's been doing that lately. Sarah's here with her. So she has to stay calm.

"Oh good. I was thinking I was getting hungry. And that maybe we were in the wrong place. I mean, this isn't one of the safe zones is it?"

Not that Sarah really wants to go out again. She honestly doesn't look all that worried now that they're inside, and she's not being pelted with cephalopods.

"And if we really wanted to pass the time, there's always the bowling."

Haruka shrugs: if there's a roof over it, and it's withstanding the storm thus far, it's a safe zone. The building is large enough to make her think it'll withstand a fair bit of damage before the elements can break in - even if every now and then, near the walls, there's a shuddering, creaking sound.

Right, let's keep Sarah away from the walls. Haruka heads back to her companion, taking a seat at the nearest table. "Whatever you'd like," she offers - they'd have to set the pins by hand, but it's not like they're in any position to worry about wasting time. That's the only thing they've got plenty of.

For now.

Haruka's about to turn the food down - they don't know how long they'll be here, they might need that - but if she's really going to think practically, in the long run a little candy isn't going to make a huge difference now or later. She holds up a hand for Sarah to toss her a package. "Surprise me," she requests.

Though since they've only got the emergency lights on, maybe what Sarah tosses her will be a surprise to the girl as well.

She sighs, keeping herself calm. Haruka's been overemotional lately - really suspicious of everyone and everything - and she's tired of it. A breather like this might actually be good.

	Sarah tosses her something chocolatey; she didn't get a good look before passing it though. Hopefully Haruka likes it. Meanwhile, Sarah sits on her stool, looking out the window and thinking. She wonders where Toby is now. If he's been turned into a goblin yet, or if everyone else is right and time stands still. She's not sure she wants to find out. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Chocolate's good; she likes chocolate. She likes most sweets, actually, though her usual fare isn't found in vending machines. Elegant ladies order from cafés instead. Haruka rips open the package and takes an absentminded nibble. In slightly altered circumstances this would almost be cozy.

Soon her head has joined Sarah's in contemplation of the stool. "Worried?" she asks, trying to read the girl's expression in the dim light and failing. A small squid flies past, tentacles waving in the wind. Yes, the circumstances would have to change a bit for this to be a truly relaxing break.

Ah. A hypothetical crisis. Haruka's teeth snap off a piece of chocolate; she chews reflectively before responding, her expression and tone softer than her words would be alone.

"You're a good sister," she points out. "But worrying here won't help. Take care of yourself, and you'll find a way to get back and take care of him."

If only she could fully believe that herself, but it's a necessary illusion. She smirks. "Besides, if he's anything like you, he'll take care of himself."

	Haruka opens her mouth and then closes it again. That might change some things, yeah. Just. A little. It's good this bowling alley's kind of dark so Sarah can't see her face right now. Haruka doesn't have a real answer for that - just a bow to her head and a little chuckle. In most circumstances she'd applaud Sarah's caution, but from the look on Haruka's face as she thinks about this person, it's someone very dear to her.

Yes, even in the dark, this is not a platonically fond grin happening here. At all. This is also not a platonic bite of her chocolate.

"How, huh...." Haruka has it bad.

She's mentioned this Labyrinth before. And, combined with the worries about a little brother who's that young....It's none of Haruka's business, really, but if she keeps Sarah talking about herself, maybe the storm will pass without further incident. The bowling alley seems secure enough. All she can do for now is put this one girl at ease.

"You're leading an - interesting life back there, huh," she guesses - but is sure enough to phrase it as a statement and not a question. Her fingers break off another piece of what's left of her chocolate bar but don't bring it to her mouth just yet. She seems more interested in what Sarah has to say. In fact, Sarah seems to fascinate her.

"I don't know that I'd call it interesting. Oh the Labyrinth is for sure. But before that, nothing ever happened. I just babysat all the time because Irene seems to think that just because I don't go out with friends means that I have no plans."

Sarah is remarkably un-phased by the fact that she's in a bowling alley waiting out a storm of flying octopi. Of course, if she were out in it, it'd be terrifying. But being in the bowling alley, it's just a thunderstorm.

That's not a bad mental approach to their situation, there, Sarah. If Haruka knew about it she'd be impressed. As-is, she's glad it's starting to look like Sarah won't be needing much cheering up or anything. Resilience is admirable.

Finishing her chocolate, she crumples up the wrapper and stands, looking around for a trash bin. Seeing one, she lines herself up and casually pitches the wrapper overhand across the room into the bin, then smiles down at Sarah. "Making your own fun is important," she acknowledges with a wink. "We might need to do that soon here, too."

The lack of windows is reassuring on one hand, but it's hard to tell what's going on outside on the other. Haruka will check at some point. Maybe not just yet.
