I don't know if he meant it to sound as harsh as it does. He probably just wanted me to give up with him. I've been fighting for us ever since he got back and he's been trying to give up.

[She presses her forehead to the window. It's cool, kind of refreshing. It helps...and then it is cold—very cold. She leans back in time to see the whole thing frost over.]

I told him if he's going to break things off he needs to use the time to try and get over what happened. Maybe if he gets himself together it might be better in the long run for you two. But I don't think he should have broken your heart like that.

[He wanders away from the window, shrugging and looking around. Seems like the power is still out and they aren't getting light any time soon.] I haven't been doing so good lately. And it all sort of hit me last night I guess. I had this pearl on me that I guess was messing a lot with my emotions and Reid helped me get rid of it so hopefully things won't be so bad from here on out. We'll see.

If he can't get over it with me then what's the point? You can't break up every time something goes wrong in your life and you need to deal with it. I can't... I can't live that way, waiting for the next time he leaves. He's always talking about how the wardens can take this away whenever they want, but they aren't the ones who broke up with me. He chose that.

And... And what? Did you say your pearl was messing with your emotions? [Heading over toward him. Her own pink pearl hanging from the band at her throat.]

Like I said, I'm not the best person to talk to about fixing things or being emotionally well-adjusted. If I knew a way for you both to come out of this being happy I'd tell you, but I don't. I wish you didn't have to hurt like this, I know that much.

Yeah, it was making my depression a lot worse. I still feel like a mess today but at least it's a start. He said other people had some, too. [A pause and a frown, then,] Actually, it looked just like that one.

[He shrugs.] Admittedly I was really drunk so I didn't take much convincing. But I've been feeling worse since around the time I got it, I just didn't really realize it. And that's weird because Chuck's been baking antidepressants into my food and I wasn't seeing any sort of improvement. [She's the only one he's admitted that to. Probably the only one he ever would.] Lots of little things that all sort of added up in the end. Add in how hard it was to convince myself to get rid of it and I'm willing to believe in some sort of mind control.

Mine was blue colored. Maybe different colors do different things? How have you been feeling lately?

Miserable about my life. Excited about the storm. Worried about you. I don't know. I'm a rainbow of feelings. [Managing to miss that "excited about the storm" may not be the most normal of reactions to it.]

Wait, she baked antidepressants into your food without telling you? Until later. [Since obviously he knows, but why bake them otherwise unless he's just really twitchy about taking pills.]

I am still suspicious of your jewelry choices and recommend immediate destruction of it. Also, really? Excited about death by octopus and rain?

No, it was consensual pie spiking. It's something she was doing with her aunts back home that seemed to work. I never wanted to use them in case it effectd my pilot performance, you know? But she offered here and I decided to try it out. Maybe it might start actually working now.

I'm telling you it's not the necklace. [And yet hearing it repeated back to her it didn't sound right. She knows she likes the thrill of a fight, but she hasn't gone action junkie to the point of being giddy about general endangerment, has she?] But fine, if it's that big of a deal. [She takes it off, and finds the very act nearly impossible. Everything in her wants to keep it close. She almost stops herself, but realizing how much she needs it gives her the nudge she needs to phase it into a wall and leave it there.

She steps back, feeling a little shaky and looks at him as best she can in the dark room and then she moves forward, not really caring that he's soaking wet. She just wraps her arms around him and buries her face against his neck.] Idiot.

[He watches as she slowly removes the necklace, remembering what a hard time he had getting rid of his last night. He hadn't been able to explain why it was so difficult to let go of, which is creepier today than it was last night. But at last she stuffs it in the wall and he returns her hug.]

I know I am. I'm also really glad I'm not the only one who has had some bad days lately.
