[ Another lovely morning in the underwater dome, another day of trying to keep the increased turmoil in his mind in check. The fact that he seems to be here already has him questioning his mental state more than enough, and to pair that with the breach of repression he didn't realize he had, the moments where that screaming - among other noises - pierces his otherwise controlled mind.

It's the extra bit of effort required to regain control that delays his rising from bed. Of course, he gets up early enough that it's still early by most people's standards - but so many of Rudy's habits mirror his own, that among them, that he expects to find him up already when he exits his bedroom.

But then he sees... not Rudy. And he freezes in place, staring. Is he spiraling deeper down into even more ravaged layers of his psyche? ]

[ There, his eyes narrow. It looks like Deb and it almost sounds like Deb, except... if Deb were suddenly here, she wouldn't be sitting here drinking coffee and looking unamused. She'd have found Dexter, and she'd have woken him up screaming and cursing and demanding to know what the fuck in the everfucking fuck was fucking going on. Something like that. He never knows where the fucks are going to wind up, really.

His brow furrows, and he glances around the rest of the apartment. So, if this is... ]

Apparently they can, and have. I'm not enjoying it any more than you are.

[Probably less, actually. Not that he doesn't have fun with Deb, just, mostly that's a product of how thoroughly he's managed to wrap her around his fingers with a careful trail of lies. Not really applicable here. Besides, he doesn't want Dexter thinking of his fake sister. He's aiming to remind him of his real family.]

It sounds like we just have to get through today, at least.
