[ It's been a long day. An eternity or perhaps just a few minutes, seconds, heartbeats since he woke up to an empty bed and an even emptier apartment. It wasn't too hard to swallow back the panic at first, keep it at bay with positive thinking and the stubborn task of looking in every nook and cranny, of testing the line over and over and over again because sooner or later he would turn up. He'd pick up the call. He was probably just busy, or out in Sector 6 or taking a bath.

He'd show up, sooner or later.

Morning turns to day turns to evening and he's still alone. By now the panic is all-consuming, squeezing at his heart until he can't even breathe. Fingers shaking, Aidan flicks on the audio feed. One last ditch effort. ]

Has anyone- [ But he stops himself there. Sometimes you know the answer all too well. So well that you don't want it confirmed more than you've already done yourself. He draws a deep breath, steadies himself for another short minute. ]

If anyone wants t' know... I know he had a few friends here. Probably more than he knew. Helix is...

Helix is gone.

[ With that he cuts the feed, abruptly, tugs the headpiece off just as frantically before heading down to the beach. He can't think of any other place to go. ]

((ooc: Anyone is welcome to find him down at the beach! Audio responses will be icly delayed seeing as he's pretty damn heartbroken, but they will be responded to eventually. ))

All right. I'm comin' right over.

[And Sougo quickly grabs a couple bottles of beers from his fridge, puts them in a plastic bag, and heads out to the beach. He wasn't going to waste any time. Aidan is always kind to him, and he enjoys Aidan's presence very much. More importantly, Aidan has become a very good friend of his. It was nice having confidence that, should anything like this ever happen to Sougo in the prison, he knew Aidan would be right there. He can only do what he felt was right, and that was to be there for Aidan, even if he felt he wouldn't be that great of company.

After some time, Sougo arrived at the beach. When he sees Aidan, he silently walks over to him, and puts a hand on his shoulder.]

[ When they first met way back when, the only thing Aidan wanted to do with Sougo was punch him in the face. Hard. A casual mention of Helix brought them together and maybe it's fitting that Sougo's the person he relies on the most now that Helix is gone. Weird, but fitting.

He glances up briefly when he notices Sougo approaching before turning his eyes to the water again. The hand on his shoulder is reassuring and he lifts his own to clap on top of it, letting a moment pass and then two and then he crumbles, air going out of him like a deflated birthday balloon. He turns to bow his head against Sougo's shoulder, not initiating a hug but desperately needing some physical support. ]

[ It's a manly sort of comfort, this back patting. He should pull himself together and back off, say something tough and then get to the drinking-yourself-into-oblivion-part but he can't. Not just yet.

Instead he stays in the awkward, forehead pressed firmly against Sougo's shoulder even as he nods in agreement. ]

Yeah... sucks a lot. [ Cracking, just slightly. ]

You can come over whenever you want, you know. Watch some movies. I'll let you borrow some of the comedy story telling I like to listen to. Any of the stuff I use to make myself feel better, really. [He nods, patting Aidan's back again.] Lacus is there, too. You ever heard her sing? Really comforting.

[He sets the bag down on the sand, then uses that hand to cradle Aidan's head... awkwardly.]

I haven't. Didn't even know she sings. [ It sounds nice, getting some refuge with two of the people he cares about the most. He's a mess right now and chances are he'll be even more so once the shock has died down. There isn't much of a reaction to the hand on his head, but he also isn't making much of a move to leave the solid security of Sougo's shoulder. ]

...I can't go back there. To th' apartment.

[ He nods again, feeling surprisingly safe in this awkward sweetness. There's a nod and a swallow and a subtle sniffle as he carefully works his arm up to wrap across Sougo's back. Oddly familiar, this. Only that time there was a bathroom and a hand pressing hard against his throat and he wasn't the one having trouble falling into a hug. It makes his throat ache. ]
