[ It's been a long day. An eternity or perhaps just a few minutes, seconds, heartbeats since he woke up to an empty bed and an even emptier apartment. It wasn't too hard to swallow back the panic at first, keep it at bay with positive thinking and the stubborn task of looking in every nook and cranny, of testing the line over and over and over again because sooner or later he would turn up. He'd pick up the call. He was probably just busy, or out in Sector 6 or taking a bath.

He'd show up, sooner or later.

Morning turns to day turns to evening and he's still alone. By now the panic is all-consuming, squeezing at his heart until he can't even breathe. Fingers shaking, Aidan flicks on the audio feed. One last ditch effort. ]

Has anyone- [ But he stops himself there. Sometimes you know the answer all too well. So well that you don't want it confirmed more than you've already done yourself. He draws a deep breath, steadies himself for another short minute. ]

If anyone wants t' know... I know he had a few friends here. Probably more than he knew. Helix is...

Helix is gone.

[ With that he cuts the feed, abruptly, tugs the headpiece off just as frantically before heading down to the beach. He can't think of any other place to go. ]

((ooc: Anyone is welcome to find him down at the beach! Audio responses will be icly delayed seeing as he's pretty damn heartbroken, but they will be responded to eventually. ))

[ He nods again, feeling surprisingly safe in this awkward sweetness. There's a nod and a swallow and a subtle sniffle as he carefully works his arm up to wrap across Sougo's back. Oddly familiar, this. Only that time there was a bathroom and a hand pressing hard against his throat and he wasn't the one having trouble falling into a hug. It makes his throat ache. ]

[And again he speaks quietly as he confesses something he never talks about.] It would make life here even better, having my two friends with me. I don't even get that at home. 	Yeah... [Sharing the same fears as someone is both comforting and not so comforting, but Sougo doesn't mention it. It didn't seem right to tell Aidan that he absolutely won't have any say in it, even though he is sure Aidan already knows. So he just goes along with him.] I would do the same, too, if I could. [ It's more the sentiment that matters anyway. Knowing someone would fight tooth and nail to keep you safe, to keep you here even though they know fully well there's nothing they can do. They need to delude themselves a little. Anything else would be too depressing.

He draws a deep breath of salty air, releasing it in a long exhale. ]

[That's what Sougo figured, and also why he didn't bring more. Even if he's encouraging the boozing, he's still secretly thoughtful enough to not let Aidan get completely smashed so quickly. He takes the other bottle and opens it up.]

It's okay. Lacus always takes care of me when I drink way too much, so you'll be in good hands.

[He has a drink. For a moment he contemplates saying something else, but decides Aidan will find out in due time about what will be the greatness of Lacus taking care of a drunken him. So he drinks some more.]

[Hearing about other people's moms always made him a little thoughtful, contemplative, like perhaps he should consider their words of advice from their mothers. His way of living vicariously through them, in a way.]

She's probably right, 'cause of women's intuition and all. They know that kinda stuff. The only thing I get from it is that getting close to people sucks.
