day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

Knew you were a spoiled little princess. Nothing to be ashamed of though. [ If he had a little sister, he'd spoil her too. She would probably be the biggest brat though and if they had turned her into a vampire -- she'd be wreaking all kinds of havoc. Good thing he's only got the one sibling around, but even then -- what a headache. ]

Now where is Zero? Is he doing that creepy, stalking from afar thing? [ He glances around. ] Tsk, tsk. He should have some manners. It's rude to spy on people. I feel completely violated. [ Like it's not something he does on an almost daily basis what with the needing to make sure that a certain doppelgänger isn't getting herself into any trouble. ]

Probably more spoiled than is right...

[She's still not entirely sure how to buy train tickets or the like, but she'll learn. Until running away, she's always been on a short leash.]

I wonder where Zero is...?

[She glances around, too. Ultimately she tried to hide the fact that she had made cookies from him because it would be more embarrassing if he made something and it came out well, when her own didn't.]

I don't think he's done a lot of stalking lately. He doesn't really mind vampires.

[Not anymore.]

But for some reason he thinks it's his responsibility to ensure that there aren't any vampires that are around that would hurt someone.

Pfft. It's in our nature to hurt a few someones. But I guess the whole getting punished for it here thing sucks. [ He would know. ]

Last I noticed, your boy-----friend was all vampire hunter-ish. [ At least before Zero disappeared into the stabilizer. ] Did you both get force-fed future thingies? Because that's been a thing that's been happening as of late. [ It's annoying. ]

[No nonsense for a moment.]

There is never a reason to hurt someone simply because of being a vampire. Your nature is only what you make it to be.

[Even if they are monsters, it doesn't mean they have to hurt people. There's ways around that. After a moment, though her voice lightens.]

We both did go home, though. Until recently, some selective memories of Zero's were removed. Although it's true that Zero once hated vampires. In particular purebloods, he's learned that type of mentality is wrong.

[ She's right. It's a choice. It's always been his choice to do the horrible things considering he's very much capable of controlling that desire to feed on people. ]

What are purebloods? Kiddies who are born as vampires? That would be sucky for mommy. [ He can't imagine what a terror a little baby vampire would be. And imagine being able to produce children... Ew. ]

Ah-- that's right. I had this conversation with your brother, but hadn't mentioned it to you.

[The difference between vampires, that is.]

Where I come from, the class of vampires can be set up like a pyramid. At the top are purebloods-- vampires who have no drop of human blood within their lineage. Next are the aristocrats - or Level B Vampires. Following them are Level C's. The farther down the pyramid you go, the more diluted or mixed the blood becomes with humans.

[It's easier to draw out but she can explain just fine.]

Only Level D and Level E vampires were formerly human. And only a pureblood has the ability to change someone. So Level C vampires and up were all born from having at least one vampire parent. With the exception of the pureblood who-- well, obviously have pureblood parents.

[Aren't you impressed with her explanation? She gets to sound all smart and things (for once)]

I don't really see a difference having regular children verses vampire children, though. [Quietly thoughtful] By the time everything happened I hadn't even grown in my fangs.

Right. Because I was imagining a baby with fangs ripping its way out of mommy's tummy. [ Trust Damon to think that. ]

And why don't you feed on blood like normal vampires?

Do you have control issues? [ His brother has that problem and sticks to a diet of animal blood. It's something he wouldn't ever do. Yucks. ]

[She shoots him a look. He only thinks that because he saw her popping those tablets, doesn't he.]

I don't have control issues.

[Geez]

But where I come from vampires regularly consume blood tablets in lieu of attacking humans. Beside... I can't drink the blood of a human without either turning them into a vampire as well, or killing them with the poison within my fangs.

[She wriggles her fingers at him and grins as though to look spooky]

I only drink the blood of other vampires.

[ Of course he'd think that. Why would a vampire choose to survive on icky tablets when there's plenty of blood readily available at the blood shack, grocery store and everywhere ever? No need for attacking anyone even. ]

Ooh. Is Zero your vampire blood bag? [ He just had to ask. ]

[A flicker of surprise. Does he... know what Zero is? Beyond his occupation.]

Zero's a hunter.

['Not a vampire' she seems to imply. Maybe as a diversion:]

Your brother helped me before, though.
