day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

	Good to know I can always win you with repeating your own recipes back at you. Yeah I made it this morning. I didn't want it to be reheated. [He takes a seat next to her, content to get his own food later. She really does look too tired for her own good. It makes him want to get her a pillow. But if she's going to act like it's okay, he'll play along with her. If she needs, he figures she knows she can ask him for anything.]

Yeah...I can't say it was that great of an experience, but at least it wasn't the worst it could have been. [He just spent the two days being completely paranoid about people standing behind him and noticing things.] It makes you realize we've don't have it so bad here...which is probably what they wanted.

Company aside, there are very few reasons for anybody to want to stay here. I'm getting a little tired of being the Wardens' guinea pig, personally.

Hey, just because it's not as bad here as it could be elsewhere doesn't mean I wouldn't pick take an interdimensional bus ride home at the drop of a dime. I think most of us see it that way.

[Which could also be another plot of the Wardens. Make them care about the other inmates they hesitate to separate from them. But he'd rather care than choose to not to.] If I could take current company home with me, there wouldn't even be a question. [He winks.]

[It's nice how simple things are with Zatanna, even if there is irony in that he has more friends he's somewhat comfortable with in prison than he did back home. Back there, he had Virgil and a bunch of friends he hung out with but didn't really let in.]

Maybe when we get out we'll set up some interdimensional cellphone. You know, so we can stay up to date on all the details.

You could build it, and I'll find a spell that can span through the dimensions. It'll be like our own, private hotline to each other.

Honestly, we could start working on one at any time. Not like we have much else to do around here, right?

Private interdimensional hotlines sound like the best kind of hotlines. We don't even have that direct a line to the Justice League back home.

I wouldn't mind. Maybe we could start with some kind of bypass communication system. I've already been working on one that doesn't use the network so it's off the radar for the eyes in the walls.

I can lock are communications down enough that no matter who hacks, even if they managed to break some of the code, it would alert me and I could lock them out.
