day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

It has been a rough few days, hasn't it?

At least this is something a little more normal. I'm not so certain I could have pulled it off.

[ she notices the black band -- was even looking for it. sookie had half a mind to chew the wardens out on caroline's (and stefan's) behalf, but knew that it ultimately wouldn't do any good. every time she's given those two rust buckets a piece of her mind, it only succeeds in making her twice as angry as she was before. really, there's no point to it. ]

Eric and I almost got slammed with those a while back. Honestly, it's a miracle we didn't. [ no judgement from her camp. two consenting immortal beings should be able to carry on in the bedroom without it being some artificial intelligence's business.

a friend, she could definitely use. jessica's gone and sam's so wrapped up in buffy these days. that's awkward in and of itself, given their history, but she's happy for him and doesn't want to drag him down with talk of the things she woke up remembering yesterday. she wishes tara or lafayette were here to talk to and be the voices of reason in her crazy ass world. hell, even arlene's advice would be welcomed after the amount of time she's done in this place. ]

[ caroline blinks at the immediate bring-up-age of the black bands but she lets out a breath and rolls her eyes.] Apparently I have no self control. [ but the no judgement and empathy is nice. ] Now I can't even touch him or something. [ which sucks. although that's not exactly how it works, she's got a flair for the dramatic at times. and no sex after awesome sex is drama worthy.]

For how long? [ the concern is honest. while she's privy to some of elena's more private thoughts, she's not about to take sides in any sort of mystic falls love triangle. stefan took a bite out of her, but in a true sookie stackhouse twist, she actually kinda feels sorry for the guy, all things considered. she'd been happy to see that he had a friend in caroline, knowing what she knows, and is even happier to see that their friendship may be something a bit more than that. everyone deserves some kind of happiness. ]

I'm... [ she sucks in a deep breath, lets it out slowly. ] I'm here. Got a rush of new memories the other morning, and I'm still trying to sort through them all. [ along with other things. she's not far enough along to have experienced the events of season five's finale, but that didn't stop eric from dropping that bill bombshell in her lap when they were arguing about said new memories. ]

[ Damon's made a whole tray of tiny tarts; caramelized onions with bacon, fruits, etc etc etc. Bite-size bits of fun for the entire family. What can he say? He's been busy. He puts it on the table with the rest of the food items and starts looking for the host of the party. The moment he spots her, he immediately does that thing where he appears right next to her just as she's looking the other way. Typical. ]
