Day 222 — Mandatory activity mingle
[ It's a wonderful, stormy day here in Squall Asylum and vacation time is officially over! Your gracious overlords have worked out a light itinerary for you today and they expect you to keep it.

Get in line to pick up your food rations for the day. Eat breakfast if you have time for it, or perhaps you'd rather skip this one time and save yourself the discomfort during the two hours of exercise that follow. Jogging, jumping jacks or perhaps impromptu team sports, whatever you end up doing you bet you'll come out exercised in the end!

Should you not want to participate... well. We have ways to make you join in. Anyone reluctant to get their heart rate up will get a helpful electric prod by one of the bots until they comply. Tough cookies.

Luckily you'll get a chance to wash off that sweat (hope you're not shy, the wash room can get crowded) before it's time for the silent game for an hour, followed by lunch. The day is not over yet though! There's still time for a couple of hours of hard labor tending to the crops, doing laundry or perhaps breaking bricks in the yard. To make sure none of the inmates are broken this is also the time for mandatory physical checkups — bots will guide you to the hospital. No ifs or buts. The violation of personal privacy is for your own good, we promise.

Isn't it nice, being in prison? ]

[Infuriated, It's all Yuuki can do not to try and take the ugly bots out herself.]

What's wrong with this place!!

[A yell at the retreating bots. As for her, she's had a rough time of it as well. On a couple of occasions the bots looked like they might shock her, too. Luckily her dorm mates were helping her out. She's too physically exhausted to do much today, after the day before. But she can't just sit aside and watch someone get hurt, either.]

Hei-san...

[Bending down she reaches a hand out to him. She knows he's grieving. Eyes finding his, they are determined but compassionate. Let her help. They can figure something out about their situation after all this, but there is no way she'll let him be hurt again.]

And Mao... Even all observers forgot eventually. Hei would ride out this storm and return. ]

Yuuki... [ he grasped her hand and pulled, using her to leverage himself to his feet, wincing at the dull ache in his side. ] Thank-you.

[She bites back the wince as her muscles pull against the injuries, but she just smiles grimly.]

Not a problem.

[Her fingers tighten, a silent reassurance.]

Come on... you can stand with Zero and I. He's doing enough for the three of us, that as long as we look like we're working when the bots get close, we'll be fine.

[He looks impressive enough and has already been carrying her own weight.]

Releasing her hand, he nodded, running cold palms down his jump suit, his gaze still cold and carefully shuttered against thought, against all feeling. If he had let it slip a little, he may have noticed that wince. ]

You shouldn't rely on him so much. [ the words just slipped out, unheeded, unfiltered. Not relying made fewer heartaches. ]

Although, maybe under the circumstances it's not. For a moment, she's quiet.]

[Relying on him too heavily only backed them both into a corner in the past, after all.]

But-- we rely on each other. Although we've hurt one another because of it in the past, we've also raised each other up.

Perhaps, but it won't do you any good if you get hurt for not doing your part.

[ he took a deep breath, releasing it slowly before he shook off his nerves, the deadly edge that meant someone was doomed to die and at his hand. He relaxed and then offered an arm to Yuuki. ]

Where is he?

[ not that he can't tell, but he too had his part to play and there was comfort in pretending he cared. ]

He's just across the way, working out.

[Fortunately, she's not unaccustomed to the same sort of mood or atmosphere. Even when facing her own brother. She doesn't seem phased one way or the other.

Merely sympathetic, still, although she keeps that in check, too. There's no sense in pitying him. She doesn't think that is what he wants.]

You don't have to worry about me. I'm a big girl. I already know the dangers and risks I face with or without Zero.
