[Day 217] [Video|Action|Open] [Movie Marathon!]
[It's a rainy day, but Richie is in a good mood because kung fu movies at the theater. Best kind of way to spend the day. But it's not as fun doing it alone when you can do it with friends or random strangers. Especially when it's the kind of movies you can laugh about because they're so terrible they're great. It's early afternoon and he's loitering a bit in the lobby before getting on the network.]

It's dreary outside, but that doesn't mean we can't do something fun, right? If they're going to show kung fu flix, we should be taking advantage of it. Watching classic kung fu with the terrible voice overs is almost as fun as watching cheesy horror movies. Anybody want to join me? We can make a marathon of it. Ko, bro, you should definitely swing by.

If you get here soon you'll catch the big end fight of The Booming Insect, and you won't miss the beginning of Master of Swinging Death Trap.

{OOC: Come on and all to the movie mingle! These two movies shown above and these other three are the ones Richie will be watching. Anyone is welcome to join and mingle amongst themselves. If you want to speak to Richie direct just tag action or video on the thread I'm including below.}

[Okay that makes Richie laugh. He decides to tease just a bit.] You never know. One of these might have a love story subplot. Not that most martial art movies do, but hey, it was the 70s, almost anything was possible.

I wouldn't be surprised. Martial arts guy has to save his helpless kidnapped girlfriend was actually a not-uncommon trope in the genre.

Then it turned into "avenge the death of dead girlfriend." Or "fall in love with the daughter of the enemy." Gotta fit it in somehow.

Plotlines as romantic and hackneyed as shit.

[He laughs.] They're movies about guys who punch each other through walls and snap each other's limbs to prove how tough they are. Anything more romantic than that and they probably would have lost their audience.
