Take the highs with the lows
Who: Alanna and Aurelia
Where: The Court
When: Early morning
Nothing like a good, long morning run to clear the mind and after the past few days, Alanna needed that like nothing else. She was accepting the fact that Aaron had just up and let her thanks in part to her friends being there for her like whoa. But in addition to that there were strange blood witches met in the woods who - after a little Internet research - it might not have been the best of ideas to give a vial of blood to. And then there were snake-boys with hypnotizing eyes who seemed to have a fascination with her that downright frightened her. The scent of snake drove her inner chipmunk crazy and keeping a lid on that while around someone who reeked of it was not easy. She had spent almost the entire time fidgeting or shaking and getting away and up into her apartment where everything was blissfully free of that scent had been like heaven. Granted, there had been a few brief moments when she had forgotten what he was because of that look in her eyes but those she did not count. She had not been the one thinking then.
"And how does that work?" she asked herself, wiping the sweat off her forehead as she opened the door leading into the main area of the Court, deciding that she would check her mail before going upstairs to feed her cat. That was one of those everyday things she should probably try to do every day, but Alanna really was awful at. Last time she had checked was probably before the demon attack even. Not like there's anything there except bills or garbage, who sends mail these days anyhow? Oh sure, Aaron had given some vague promise of sending postcards or letters, but that was the last thing she ever wanted to see in that little metal box. Fumbling around in her pockets she produced the key, stretched up on her tiptoes and open the box to find exactly what she had expected - bills and one of those Victoria Secrets catalogs that she never needed because she never shopped there. Waaaay too expensive. Sighing, she tossed the magazine at the nearest garbage bin and started back for the stairs. Maybe she could catch a nap before going to work. Or school. Which was she supposed to be doing today? Hopefully she had written that down somewhere because she was starting to lose track again.
