People are starting to realize that it isn't a series of freak accidents anymore. Something is happening, and someone is behind it all. Monsters exist, so do angels, and demons, and everything else that the mind can possibly create, or fear. The superhero's are trying to stop it, the scientists are trying to explain it, and the humans are just trying to survive. There's a place for everyone to fit in, if they're brave (or crazy) enough to try.

  The third Quarter Quell is rapidly approaching, and the Gamemakers are prepared to make it the most interesting one yet. The nation of Panem is a powder keg ready to ignite; tensions are mounting throughout the nation as citizens wait to see what rule change will be introduced for this momentous occasion. And what transpires will serve as the spark that will set an already restless nation ablaze.
  Some remain loyal to the Capitol, not wanting their style of life to change, while others are prepared to take up arms and fight to the death. This is the Games on a whole new level with a nation of tributes and alliances and betrayals at every corner where the prize is the fate of a nation.
  Let the 75th Hunger Games begin, and, as always, may the odds be ever in your favor.

  Panem et Circenses is an AU Hunger Games RPG that takes place between The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Peeta and Katniss are both Victors of different Games – the 73rd and 74th respectively. Its purpose is to allow for players to explore the world of Panem and the characters without having to actually play out the Games themselves. Instead, it will center around a rebellion led by District 13 against the Capitol in the wake of the Quarter Quell.

  Panem et Circenses is accepting both canon and original characters.

A hundred years ago, supernaturals 'didn't exist'. They were figments of your imagination, things that went bump in the night and tall tales that you told your children. Not anymore.

Supernaturals were in hiding, laying dormant and blending into the background in order to protect themselves, but during WWII, the need for their abilities became so great that hiding was no longer an option. The government had long been aware of the existence of supernaturals, and when Hitler was killed or died and the accounts of the death were so unusual they couldn't be explained, people started asking questions. Keeping supernaturals under wraps became impossible and so the different races of supernaturals exploded across the lands. Just like any other minority, supernaturals weren't welcomed with open arms. Many were persecuted and some even killed for being 'different'. There was segregation and hate crimes and many churches labeled being supernatural an abomination before God. Supernaturals had to register with the government and were prosecuted if they were found without their registration cards. Many supernaturals went back into hiding.

During the sixties, however, in the height of civil rights and love, peace and harmony, being supernatural didn't seem so bad in the grand scheme of things. There were vast civil rights movements and eventually laws were passed protecting supernaturals the same as other minority groups. Still, not everyone accepted people who were 'different'. Many supernaturals migrated to areas where they were more widely accepted.

Some may have moved right next door to you.

In Toronto, Ontario, Canada, moving into an apartment with a new roommate might mean that you're sharing a living space with a werewolf. Or maybe your son's new kindergarten teacher is an elemental. Or that girl you have a crush on in Algebra just might already know because she's a telepath. Things are still a struggle when it comes to acceptance and not everyone is happy about the path that the world is taking towards equality.

Areldim: An OC Fantasy RPG.
Areldim is a world dominated by the perpetual conflict between mortals and the Ashai, a group of magic wielding immortals. Both sides have controlled the world at one time or another and both have constantly persecuted each other. Of course both sides blame the other for starting the conflict and it has, at this point, become a continuing cycle of revenge.

Presently the mortal Nashaarian Empire controls most of the world and wages a war against Abraxes, the one mortal nation where the use of magic for all things is permitted. The Ashai, meanwhile, lost their most recent attempt at an empire to the Nashaarians about 15 years before our story begins, and they are persecuted, imprisoned, and in hiding, but still aspire to one day regain everything they've lost.

There are other races, of course, such as the Isha, a group of beings who long ago made a blood pact with the dying race of dragons and who helped mortals rise up and defeat the Ashai the first time.

Areldim is a small-scale, OC-only (I can be flexible about this, see the post I linked to below) fantasy RP set in a Renaissance Era-style world with magic and other races. The game is friends only, but those interested in joining should send me a PM and/or post characters they might like to play in THIS post. Comments are screened for privacy, since we're talking about OCs here. Everyone can have up to 4 characters.
