Pax Letale: a modern myth game

PAX LETALE: GODS REBORN

In Southern California, there recently opened a new luxury apartment building. Impeccably designed, impossibly convenient, ideally located, Pax Letale is the sort of residential Shangri La where Southern Californians spend all manner of favors and years trying to secure a spot. But Pax doesn't have a waiting list, nor can a place there be bought or sold. The people who find their way to Pax Letale belong there.

Every tenant of Pax is a reincarnated deity whose worshipers are by and large long dead. Once very real, these gods began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. Reborn as mortals, their essences remain, waiting to be awakened. Somehow, sometimes one by one, sometimes in groups or pairs, these creatures of destiny have discovered Pax, and have not been able to resist its pull.

For at Pax Letale, the awakening has begun. As these gods rediscover themselves and each other, the seemingly invisible but ubiquitous management tracks each of them quite closely, and the very building itself seems to have an agenda of its own. And as the gods made humans in their own image - or humans made them in theirs - so will the the behavior of the people of Pax turn as dark as their myths. Blood, strife, sex, petty plots, torture - even murder will wind their ways into Pax Letale.

A lovely place. A peculiar place. A dangerous place.

Available Tenants:

Enki is the Babylonian god of water, crafts, intelligence and creation. Twin of and best friend of Ereshkigal, goddess of the Underworld, he is often seen as a positive foil to his brother Enlil, utilizing his magic and cunning for the good of others; he brings aid to deities and humans alike, serving as a rare masculine nuturer in a chaotic and often oppressively patriarchal pantheon. He will likely have connections to Tiamat, Ereshkigal, and other Sumero-Babylonian deities.

Brighid is the Celtic goddess of the forge, inspiration, compassion and creativity, and a patron goddess of artists, craftsmen, and other creative types. In her mortal life, she may have connections to her parents, her siblings, or any of the Celtic pantheon.

Masauwu is a Hopi deity sometimes called the Skeleton Man, Keeper of Fire, Spirit of Death, and the Master of the Fourth (present) World. He is depicted as a dark-skinned man wearing a mask; sometimes the creature beneath this mask is described as handsome, sometimes as a disfigured monster. Connections to Native American deities and gods and goddesses of death or enlightenment are likely.

ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE TENANTS

Don't see a tenant that interests you? Other deities and pantheons are welcome - pick one of the active pantheons in the game, or talk to a mod if there's one you don't see, and make your modern god as you see him/her/it.

Pax Letale has re-opened under new management.
Holds and applications are being accepted for all available pantheons.

SOFT OPEN 6/10
GRAND OPENING 6/15

"We did it." As the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Class of 2023's Head Boy spoke these words, even the most powerful Sonorus charm couldn't have drowned out the screams and cheers from his graduating class. In fact, as the Head Girl joked in her ensuing speech, he really could have ended his graduation address with those three words. "We did it." The forty students who sat together that day had been Sorted together, had their first terrified lessons together, listened to the war stories of their Professors together, learned how to sneak out after curfew together, developed crushes on their Prefects together, had their first illicit sips of firewhiskey together, taken their OWLs and NEWTs together, and now graduated together. At the ripe age of 17 - and a few who have already reached 18 - the class of 2023 is preparing to separate after seven long, hard, wonderful years together.

But in between now and the future - Auror training, Healer training, internships at the Prophet, Cursebreaking school - there's the summer. The Last Hurrah! before they go their separate ways. A nine week long party, if you will. And if there's one thing the class of 2023 knows how to do... it's party.

TLH! is a 9-week, summer only next-generation Harry Potter PSL based around the class of 2023 (ie, the contemporaries of James Sirius Potter II) after they complete their 7th year at Hogwarts.

All members of professional Quidditch teams now live together in their team's designated house. Each house is located on the outskirts of Hogsmeade Village and has it's own pitch. All pitches are surrounded by tall hedges to prevent others from seeing what is going on during practices. Each team member has their own room and there are two bathrooms - one for the male house members and one for the females. There are also two loo's. Each house has a large kitchen, grand dining area, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, pool table and common room - where housemates can come to read, play Wizard's Chess, write letters, etc. There is a House-Elf stationed in each house who takes care of all of the cooking and cleaning; and can run minor errands for the residents.

Visitors to the team houses are allowed, but not during any practice sessions. Residents are allowed to leave their houses to do whatever they want - as long as they are back home by 10pm. A full set of house rules will be presented at the start of the game.

Every other week a challenge will be presented. Each house will compete against the other houses. Participation is optional - but the winners will receive worthwhile rewards.

How will your characters get along with their house mates? Can they learn to coincide - no matter what their political views are? Can they come together to be a strong team? How will they now get along with their mates from other teams?

....... It's all up to you.

The Devil tempts all Men

"My intention is not to offend anyone, but... you have all been wrong. You apply human science to everything, but not everything is of a human nature. There are things that lie well beyond your realm of explanation and understanding, and quite frankly, they always will. For they have been present in this world, for longer than your earliest ancestors."
-Pruflas

With those words, centuries of careful concealment have been unraveled. The underground world of the supernaturals has been brought to light, and very much against their will. The year is 2056, the place is Amsterdam. The capital, and largest city in the Netherlands has become the unofficial home of the Supernatural world. Not only is the local government controlled by wealthy non-humans, but it also happens to be a willing host to those humans who do not shy away from the wicked, but instead embrace it. This harmonic unison is shaken when a demon named Pruflas takes it upon himself to expose the entire world to their kind, simply to combat his own boredom. Residence in Amsterdam steadily find themselves under the judgmental eyes of the world, as well as the terrorism some people are willing to enact, in a desperate attempt to protect the human population from these monsters. The world has come to a precipice, either they will be accepted, destroyed, or they will take the throne, and rule over those below them. Some want peace, others war, and then there are those who have yet to take a stand. Either way, no one will be left unaffected.

What will they do? Will they burrow deeper into the shadows, in hopes of keeping themselves hidden from the masses of humans who don't understand them, and who don't want them there? Or will courage flourish, and will they show themselves to the world, and insist on living side by side with their sometimes prey? What will they do? What would you do?

We accept, and are looking for a wide range of supernatural beings. Particularly, humans and demons are wanted at this time. Old and new characters alike are welcome. Have an older character you're itching to play again, and want to hash out? Bring them to us. Or maybe you're not sure what, or who you want to play, or you don't want to come into a game with no ties. There are numerous wanted characters, check the page for a bit of muse like inspiration.

In the year 2026, a group of twelve wizards created mass destruction with magic in front of thousands and killing hundreds in the middle of a London borough. The incident was televised world wide to millions of people, leaving no way to hide magic from the Muggle world any longer. Thus, the International Confederation of Wizards had no choice but to abolish the 1692 International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy. Now four months later, British Minister of Magic Neville Longbottom has taken down the barriers that separate Muggle London from wizarding London and tries to mend bridges between the two worlds.

Wizards and witches that have been forced to live with their abilities in secret are now allowed to do magic in front of whoever they want. Relations between Muggles and the magical community have increased steadily since the act was abolished, but there is an air of distrust and animosity surrounding both societies. Many wizards and witches still harbor prejudices against Muggles. Some continue to hide their abilities from Muggles while others welcome the new freedom with open arms. Some Muggles live in fear of the magic that now surrounds them. Others eagerly try to learn about magic and what it can do for them, believing not all magical people can be bad.

The world is now united, but after hundreds of years in silence, can they live together in peace?

----

The Secret's Out is a very character and player driven RPG. The main gameplay is reliant on the players coming up with their own ideas for interactions, relationships, and animosities between all the characters - wizard, witch, or Muggle.

Opening June 24th.

OPENS APRIL 29TH

Two days ago this was an empty lot, an abandoned field near the edge of town. Then the trucks rolled in, big semis huffing clouds of noxious fumes, and able-bodied men jumped out to set stakes in the ground, run string to mark off areas. The townspeople whispered excitedly as the posters and flyers arrived around town, posted on telephone poles and bulletin boards, stacks of them on the counters in shops.

The Dark Carnival was in town.

The tents aren't the gay red and white stripes of the carnivals of yesteryear; these are black and gray, burgundy and purple, dark jewel tones lit from within by lanterns and candles and blacklights. Torches burn at the entrance and a sign warns all who enter that they are lost. The Ferris Wheel is a hulking beast against the sky; carnies walk among the crowd dressed in leather jackets embroidered like a skeleton's infrastructure, weaving expertly between the marks. Barkers call to passersby, luring them in for the sights and sounds. Canvas banners ripple in the wind, which carries with it the scent of food cooking, the hot smell of machinery and oil.

There are cries of laughter and delighted squeals coming from the funhouse, the freak tent, the thrill rides. People walk out of the psychic's tent looking a little uneasy, laughing it off as hokum even as their skin crawls. And some of those shrieks from the funhouse... well, they sound a little too sincere, don't they?

This is the Dark Carnival.

A throwback to the colosseums of old, The Arena, located in the heart of Cambion City, is the very place for those with a penchant for blood, guts, and death to see their wildest fantasies fulfilled. Populated by a very select group of Were criminals, spectators at the Arena can expect to see the fight of their life every night as the finest Were specimens of all breeds rip each other to shreds in the hopes of surviving one more day, working off debt, or simply gaining their freedom.

Beneath The Arena's battleground is a series of spartan-like jail cells where criminal or indebted Weres are forced to coexist together, no matter their breeds. Champions are treated like Gods and often assigned their own slaves, and the tales of sex, drugs, and decadence that take place in the 'champion' quarters provide more than enough inspiration for those warriors who are resigned to a life in captivity to fight their way to victory. The system is corrupt, the conditions are harsh, and the battles are not often fair.
All the more reason to come and play, isn't it?

Cambion City is an original character supernatural game set in the fictional town of Cambion City on the South West Coast of the United States. The game will open as soon as we have 10 established characters and is slowly coming together. Start with a fresh slate! We are looking for any and all original characters you might be able to think up!

*Because of the adult content that will play a major part in this game, the game is rated NC-17 with NO exceptions.
