WTF?! RP - Not your typical Harry Potter Roleplay
Setting. Rules. Holds. Application.

Game Opened: April 1, 2009! Applications for female characters will be given priority.

WTF?! is a 'Harry Potter' afterlife-based roleplaying game set on its own island, called Sointula. It takes some of the clichés found so often in the fandom and in 'Potter' RPs and revels in them.

Four gods have set this island up so that they can observe peoples' daily lives. Think of it like a game of 'Sims' for the dead. The gods pick and choose who they want on their island for their own reasons and may or may not help people. They do whatever they want, because they can.

Note, though, that there's a lot of weirdness in this game. It's not your typical 'put everybody from the canon together in one place' type of setting. Modern Muggle technology is everywhere, and everyone who shows up on the island will know how to use that modern tech.

The game is quirky but not silly. There will be comedic storylines, and there will be dramatic storylines. It's all up to the players.

This game is looking for creative people who are willing to work within some set parameters and explore the possibilities of the fandom's clichés. Some aspects of your character's life on the island will be set by the gods when that character is accepted. If you're not comfortable with playing things that aren't determined by you, don't bother applying. It's not a crack game, despite it's name and setting, but it's also not 'high drama, all the time.' It needs players who have enough time to give to the game to develop their characters and storylines, not those who apply to every new game that starts up and never put in any quality time on any game because their creativity is spread too thin.

Characters that aren't active, or who only interact with one or two other characters, will be removed. That doesn't mean your character has to thread with every single person in the game, but you have to at least make an effort to have them talk to and interact with characters outside of those they were involved with in the novels. If you enjoy taking the canon characters outside of their comfort zones, exploring new possibilities, and you enjoy quality RP in an unusual setting, this game could be for you.

If you're looking for the same old tired stuff, go elsewhere.

Every character from the 'HP' canon is open for play, wizard, Muggle, or whatever, but be sure to read the Rules, Setting, Posting Guidelines, and Taken Characters & PB Lists, before applying.

I'm a harsh guy when it comes to my rules. If you give me crap, I'll give it back to you. I don't care who you are, or how your popular you are in the fandom, or how many games you're in, or how many times you've played 'X' character in games, or how long you've been RPing, or if you write fanfic that makes people squeal. I don't care.

Once you've read the threads, and you're still interested in applying, here's the Application.

"Well, personally? I kinda want to slay the dragon. Let's go to work."

And get to work the remaining members of Angel Investigations did. Four heroes against a city run rampant with monsters of all shapes and sizes. When it was all said and done, the dragon was slayed. The others followed suit or fled for their lives. Gunn perished but Angel, Spike, and Illyria survived. The Senior Partners fell silent and the battle for control of Los Angeles was declared over at long last.

The city has begun to rebuild and people have returned to their daily lives since then. Yet, already plans are in motion to destroy the peace that has befallen the City of Angels. The Senior Partners are back, with a vengeance, and a plan they are certain will succeed. The Powers That Be have decided the time has come to mount a viable defense. Heroes and villains alike are arriving day and night. Some come with an understanding of what is to be expected. Some do not. And some are neither hero nor villain, but simply innocent pawns in a game where the rules are deadly and the winner, truly, can take it all. Now, only one question remains:

On which side of the battle lines do you fall?

Although Parabolical is a multi-fandom RPG set in the Angel-verse, knowledge of the show Angel the Series and/or Buffy the Vampire Slayer is not required.

I’d had more than my fair share of near-death experiences;
it wasn’t something you ever really got used to.

Senior year. Graduation. War with an army of vampiric newborns. It's been a busy year for one Bella Swan and yet she doesn’t have much to complain about. She’s got Edward, her wedding, and the rest of their immortal lives to look forward to.

But Jacob’s still missing. The treaty with the Pack is still hanging by a precarious thread. And the constant threat of the Volturi still looms above their head. The battle is not over for the Cullens and while they are creatures of the night, they still need to fight to see the break of day.

Dawn’s First Light is a post-Eclipse game that will incorporate some but not all elements of Breaking Dawn. Gameplay officially began on April 1, 2009.

And now, by popular demand, accepting holds.

Marriage Games:
"All I can really say about marriage games is that I was never interested in them because they just seem like instant shipping games. Don't want to work at a relationship? Here! Have a marriage game!"

-- Shell

"An excuse to ship characters in unusual/nonsensical pairs whilst proving little other plot to help move the game along."

-- Bee

Marriage Games... We all know them and love to hate them. Really, do they serve a purpose? The only plot is putting two, usually ill matched, characters together. As for game wide plot? Pffffttt... Basically nonexistent. Though I have to say, there are moderators out there who try, though usually they fail. It is just so hard to keep those rabid shippers in line.

That is until now.

Welcome to Death Eater Reform Project! Join us as we merge this ill thought of genre with real, so solid you can almost feel it, plot. Want drama? We got it in truck loads. Want angst? If dear Harry's self loathing is not enough for you than come on, there is plenty to go around. You into those darker aspects of the human psyche? Oh yeah, we welcome those with open arms. You want to go around causing havoc? Well, we got an Underground Movement for you!

"OMG, why can't we all just get along and learn to love each other?!" HA! Yeah right. We're lucky if they don't kill each other.

Charing Cross: Post-DH Harry Potter RPG

[info]charingmods
[info]insane_games
GAME STARTED 2/08/09
PREMISE
Behind Charing Cross: It's Where The Wizards Play

In 2003 the Wizarding World has come a long way since the Final Battle. Death Eaters have been tried and dealt with fairly under the watchful eye of the new Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt and a reformed Wizengamot. Diagon Alley and Hogwarts have been rebuilt. Slowly the magical community has rebuilt and healed from Voldemort's reign.

Charing Cross is a game that explores the social and professional lives of our favorite Harry Potter Characters. The main action takes place in and around Diagon Alley, which is far from the one-street world we saw in canon. In the past five years Diagon Alley has become not only the Magical Center of London, but of all of Britain. New shops have opened, small cafes have been found and residential buildings are quickly filling up, so claim your spot now!

ABOUT OUR GAME
Charing Cross is unique in terms of the RPGs we've seen. Instead of having no overall plot or a complicated long-running plot that almost never comes to fruition, Charing Cross likes to focus on character and world building. We do this by throwing out a game-wide plot once a month that the characters can then react to and go about their daily business. For example, in February we had a Masked Valentine's Day Ball which was the foundation for several character relationships in game. In March there was a Charms accident that had boys running around as girls and girls running around as boys for several weeks, and all the drama and awkward moments that accident created.

Currently, Diagon Alley has become the victim of a string of robberies, all of which will culminate at the end of the month at a Charity Auction. Who knows where we'll go next, but we do know it will be fun and exciting, not to mention easy for new players to join at any time and catch up quickly. Our hope is that through these small, short-lived plots players will take the opportunity to develop their characters and relationships with other players. We also encourage small group plots, such as book clubs, bowling leagues and writer's circles among many others.
ABOUT OUR PLAYERS
Charing Cross has a small group of dedicated, talented and creative writers who are hopeful for new friends. We're looking for equally dedicated and creative writers who want to experience a slightly different RPG experience. The mods are friendly and easy-going and encourage player input into everything. We're looking for players who bring something slightly different to the table as well, with fresh, exciting characters. There are plenty of interactive experiences just waiting to happen, so give us a chance and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Verde, Louisiana is your typical southern town. The citizens are friendly and enjoy welcoming new people to their town. Things aren't perfect, but the towns people like their little slice of life, and tend to think that nothing will go wrong.

However, there is trouble brewing in the outside world. There are reports that a nasty disease called "African Rabies" has had a few reported cases in the United States after making the world news during its spread of South Africa. Phalanx, the purported miracle vaccine, is expensive and supplies run out quickly (plus, you have to drive all the way to New Orleans just in hopes of getting it). No one is even 100% sure that it works.

World War Z is an RPG based around the book of the same name. The game will take you through the experiences of the war, from beginning to end. Will you survive? Apply and find out!

PREMISE

You wake up to the smell of smoke.

In the year 2008, a virus swept North America. Ever vigilant for a pandemic, citizens boarded up their windows, stockpiled their canned goods, and turned their neighbors in to the CDC. Short wave radios fell off the shelves, evacuation routes were prepared. Gas masks and specialty filtration systems were distributed. Pills were available for those showing early symptoms. Pills that did not work. That were later replaced with cyanide as their active ingredient. For those who were brave enough to put their fingers near a loved one's mouth. The United States, Canada, Mexico, the virus swept down into South America and festered in the heat of the jungle. In some places it burned out. Superstition ruled and saved lives. But nothing stopped the virus.

You wake up to the crackle of dead airwaves.

Three months after the first diagnosed case of Currere Excessum was recorded, NATO approved Great Britain's use of nuclear force against the United States. It was assumed that all organic material would be reduced to ash under the impact. It was assumed that the Quarantine of the Americas would be temporary, at best. Any who survived the blast would be given the highest in humanitarian attention and medical care. The only American emissaries who knew of the plan lay incinerated in Washington. The Quarantine continued. The Americas lay abandoned. Empty.

It's 1980, and as the first war escalades out of control, history is changing. Severus Snape did not overhear the original prophecy, but Rita Skeeter did. Millicent Bagnold is dead. Regulus Black has not discovered Voldemort's use of horcruxes, and without an ominous threat against his immortality, Voldemort is focusing on taking control of all aspects of magical life. He is planning the eradication of Dumbledore's Order of the Phoenix. Purist ideology is slowly taking over wizarding culture and influencing the choices of those fleeing the country, those abandoning their society masks, and those making a call to arms. Muggleborns face blood registration. Death Eaters are infiltrating the teetering, shaken government.

An ill wind is blowing nobody any good.

Why Apply?

This is a game with a structured plot and the outcome of all major plotlines relies on the participation of players and the actions of their characters. You can choose whether or not your character lives or dies. You can choose what path they follow. You can help to rearrange the puzzle pieces of canon history for a better or worse happily ever after.

We are a growing, organized, plot-driven game with many key characters available for application, and you might be just what we're missing. We would especially like to see Lucius Malfoy, Peter Pettigrew, more DE's and DE supporters, media, and ministry employees!
