WHO: Zach & Jax
WHAT: Zach spends some time in the infirmary and Jax bugs him like old times.
WHERE: The infirmary
WHEN: March 29th, 2020; Late Afternoon
RATING: Medium, maybe.
With Gordy's funeral looming and every single person in his family acting just a little distant in one way or another, Zach found himself going to the one place that he always found a sense of balance - well, the place he could find balance without alcohol that is - the infirmary. A little voice kept telling him he was hiding out, or ignoring what needed to be dealt with. Times like this he always found himself wishing like hell that his parents were here, that he wasn't the one responsible for keeping them all together and happy. He was still on light work, per Talia's orders, and because of that he could be found in the storage space again. It wasn't the kind of work he wanted to be doing, because organizing and taking an inventory of the supplies wasn't at the top of his list of things he liked doing around the infirmary. But it was something that needed to be done, and something Talia would let him do without giving him a look that clearly said 'relax and take a break.'. As he sorted through endless boxes, crates and shelves of stuff, it was looking more and more like they would need to make a run to the nearest hospital - and hope like hell it hadn't been ransacked. The thought crossed his mind that he could go, he was immune after all. But he nixed that thought, after the stunt he had pulled - the one that landed him in quarantine - he was on thin ice with his siblings. Going out for supplies would only make things worse, and right now they looked like they were quickly sinking towards turning into what things had been like up until recently, up until he got his act together and started trying to piece their family back together. This mess was his creation though, and he knew it. He had lied to them, and in Maddie's case he had let her down. So whatever anger they wanted to direct towards him, he deserved it. As his thoughts circled around and around on what his siblings were feeling, he shifted a couple boxes from one shelf to another. Pausing afterwards to note one more item they needed to restock. When did the infirmary get so low on things? Probably when the world started falling apart. he thought, chuckling slightly when he thought about some of the items they would no doubt run out of - like condoms - without anyone mass producing them anymore, it was likely that at some point nobody would be able to find a box of them anywhere. Which would either lead to a hell of a lot of frustrated people OR a rash of pregnancies, and neither one of those scenarios was at all ideal. "Hopefully I'm long gone by the time that happens," he muttered as he restocked a box of gauze, turning to lean against the shelving unit for a moment. "And if I'm not, well I'll be screwed." Zach scrubbed a hand over his face, another sigh escaping as he did so. The infirmary was supposed to be where he found peace, but today it was just another place where he was left alone with his guilt and his thoughts. |
