our conversations ain't long but you know what is (fearisgone) wrote in immune_ic,
"Life's a game of chance, though, right?" Jax asked rhetorically. Everything was the luck of the draw: who lived, who died, who was immune, who wasn't. And now, who had abilities and who didn't. People in the safe havens had it better than most, usually. You just had to be smart enough to stay there. But Jax didn't want to think about his own incredible luck in coming here, getting bitten right outside and turning out to be immune, because he had a mission!
That had actually been an amusing conversation, in its way, Jax thought. Conducted on the network, there hadn't been any reason to blush. It was silly, because Jax wasn't that easily embarrassed, but something about flat-out asking for condoms had made his cheeks color somewhat. "Yeah," he said with a slight shrug. "Just, you know, in case. We've been together like, almost four months? Not that there's a timetable for that stuff, I guess." Jax bit into the inside of his lip in an attempt to stop his babbling, which Zach probably wasn't interested in anyway. It didn't occur to him that to an adult, four months would probably seem like an impossibly long time to wait for sex, but since Nick hadn't done it before, it had seemed reasonable enough to him.
