WHO: Daniel and Marga
WHEN: October 15th, 2018,
WHERE: Grand Central safe house
WHAT: Waiting for everyone to come back from Carnegie Hall
Daniel waited a bit impatiently for the people who had gone to carnegie to help to come back. It wasn't that he didn't think Evan could take care of himself it was just that... well, he was injured still and if anything happened to him... He couldn't even think about that because the possibility just made him nauseous. No. Evan was fine. He was going to save as many people as possible and he was going to come home in one piece. Home. That was weird to think about. When had Grand Central turned in to home? He supposed they were lucky that they had gone this long without any serious breaches.
Suddenly the thought of their safe house being impregnable seemed ridiculous and that unsettled Danny more than he was willing to admit. He paced up and down the hall where the survivors would be coming in and chewed on his finger nails. It was a nervous habit that he'd developed and he seemed to be chewing on his nails a lot more often lately. Having a brother like Evan gave Danny all kinds of reason to worry. Evan and Georgie were all that he had left and the thought of being left alone to look after George by himself was terrifying. Not to mention, they'd probably get found out to be immunes almost immediately without Evan there to play middle man. Danny was a terrible liar. And then they'd shove him out there to fight the infected and he would freeze up at the first one he saw and his brains would get eaten. Just like the movies.
He took a long, slow breath and tried to calm his nerves a little. It was going to be fine. He was getting worked up over nothing. He just had to keep telling himself that. It was almost believable that way. Not quite. Almost. He paused in his pacing and leaned back against one of the walls, slowly sliding down until he was seated on the floor. His eyes focused on the door and he stared intently at it like if he looked hard enough suddenly the survivors would appear. And then the door opened and the guards started helping the shaken survivors through. It worked? It worked! Danny sat up again and kept a look out for his brother but also kept a look out for any survivors who looked lost and might need a bit of a tour of the hall. It was home now after all and nobody knew it better.
