For someone who spent much of her time with her foot in her mouth, it was easy for Marga to forgive another person's innocent slip-up. Especially when said slip-up hadn't been mean-spirited. One short conversation and already Danny felt like a friend. It made her feel like less of a stranger in this big new place.
"Overcrowding could eventually be a problem," Marga replied thoughtfully, silently adding if more safehouses are taken over by the zombies. Sometimes rational thinking was way too depressing. Danny inquired about the other safehouses and Marga sucked on her lip as she scoured visual maps of each place she'd been. "Now that you mention it, not really. I haven't been to all of them, though, so I honestly couldn't say. Madison Square Garden is kind of it's own little indoor city, since a lot of people there have tents set up."
The woman couldn't help but grin at Danny's comparison of his siblings and souffles. She'd never heard that one before. "Were you a baker before all this began?" It occurred to her that it might be an odd question to ask, but in her experience baker's tended to use a lot of food analogies.
"I'll trust you know what you're talking about." If Danny had made friends with this Lukas fellow, that had to mean he wasn't as scary as he sounded, right? She hoped so.
Most people didn't toss around the fact that they were Immune or not, and Marga always figured it was impolite to ask outright, so she only nodded and smiled to Danny's answer. He made no mention of going out and fighting, which made her guess that he hadn't been bitten. "I don't believe in blowing people off, so you won't have to worry about that," she said kindly. "And I do admit I feel better not being ignored by every person who was already here."
It really was clever how they'd managed to turn a train terminal into a fortified safe area. With all the entrances and exits, Marga was inclined to have thought it impossible, but here she was looking at the result. She couldn't help but be impressed. A shy grin came when Danny mentioned being annoyingly persistent. "That'll be good to know, next time I have the urge to scream."
