"Its the best," James agreed happily. He actually felt better right now than he had since arriving in this place. Something about the adrenaline and the fresh air - the cobwebs and everything that came with it were well and truly gone. At least for the time being.

"I'm sure we can shuffle the teams around next time. I want to be playing with you! And maybe Jamie and Albus.." he turned, scanning the crowd absently for his grandsons. He'd have to find Jamie soon, and he still needed to have a proper talk with Albus. That one was hard to pin down.

"Seriously though," he turned back to Harry. "You were wicked. You should sack off the minister thing and just do this instead. Much better for international relations."

It kind of occurred to James that he should be doing some kind or parenting which discouraged near-death nose dives. But how could he when it had been so impressive?

"A Potter/Weasley team," he said, wondering if his kids would actually enjoy that, but that was something he wouldn't think about it too hard. He'd worry when the time came. "We can beat them even with Savannah on the other side," he said with certainty.

Harry grinned. "Thank you. I always loved being a seeker, but not that much to sit on my broom for hours and hours daily just for a few minutes on a Saturday. Not that I like being Minister," he said, laughing. "Think that they would finally answer us? They probably would. Who cares about food and good of first necessity when you could have a Quidditch player instead." Not that he thought that it'd be that easy.

"So how bad will Sirius sulk now?" he asked with a tiny smile. "He was so excited about the game."

"I mean, I think that's the trade off for being a seeker," James grinned. "All the drama and glory at the end, but a lot of sitting about. Did you ever try being a chaser?"

A part of him wondered what it would have been like if Harry had grown up as he should have. Would it have been like James' childhood? A Quidditch goalpost in the back garden, going to matches on the weekends during the holidays? He hoped so. And who knew how good Harry could have been then.

He grinned, slinging his broom over his shoulder. "You never know; weirder stuff has happened. And people do get a bit barmy over Quidditch. It could be worth a shot."

He laughed. "Ah, he'll recover. I'm actually the sore loser out of us lot, usually. So please appreciate the grace with which I'm handling this." He gestured to himself, raising an eyebrow playfully.

"I guess, but I didn't really pick the position. It was my first flying class. Draco stole the remembrall and I went after it. McGonagall came out of her office and decided that I was going to be Gryffindor's new seeker without any tryouts. Yeah there wasn't any trying for anything," he admitted and now wondering if he would have enjoyed more a different position. Maybe playing chaser wouldn't have been that bad. "Maybe I'll try next time and Draco can take seeker."

Harry chuckled. "At this point, it might be the way to go. They aren't really answering us. They tell me that a week in diplomacy is nothing, but it feels like a long time to do nothing."

He nudged James' shoulder with his. "You don't look like a sore loser to me, but your grace is noted," he teased.

"I love McG," James grinned. "She's such a hero." As if he hadn't had a soft spot for his old head of house already. Even if she had given him more detentions than any other teacher, he and Sirius had always known she'd loved them deep down. Kind of. In her own special way.

"You should give it a shot though. You're quick and you've got good reflexes, so I think you'd do well. Maybe I'll grab you for a throw around one evening this week."

James frowned a little, although he was still on too much of a Quidditch high to really care what a bunch of foreign governments were doing. "They're probably running around like Headless billiwigs trying to work out what to do with us," he suggested. "Or they don't believe it."

It was a pretty crazy story, after all. James' grin burst back in full force with the nudge to his shoulder. "Thanks very much," he replied, including his head. "I'm very mature these days, you know."

He glanced around, catching sight of Remus talling to weird young Dumbledore (WYD, as James had started calling him in his head.) His smile wobbled a little.

"Full moon tonight," he commented absently. "Remus said this portions supposed to stop him going full wolf-brain?"

"I wouldn't go that far," he said with a snort, "but I might have hexed Carrow because he insulted her, so I understand the feeling." He had cast the Cruciatus without even thinking about it. It hadn't been one of his finest moments. "She was a special woman and she knew when to be stern and when to listen and do as she was told. She trusted me."

He nodded. "I probably will at some point. I might as well see what all the fuss is all about or if everyone in my family picked to be a chaser because they can't cut it as a seeker," he teased.

His father was probably right. Both Savannah and Lucius had told him the same thing and when people so very different from each other agreed, it was probably right. "The consensus agrees with you, so we just wait."

He was very glad that Snape was around this month. "I know, and Snape trusts the potion. Dumbledore trusted the potion, too, but he has a soft sport for you lot. Snape doesn't, so I believe his take more. Technically he could change in a room with people and nothing should happen. I'm not sure I want to test that on the first time he takes it."

"Oi," James smiled and reached across to give Harry's arm a light, good natured punch. "Maybe the rest of us just like to get in amongst it before the last 30 seconds of the game."

Perhaps there was a similar reason as to why James was much happier working and training with Ron than he would have been dealing with foreign governments and the rest of it. He was more than happy to leave that to Harry. James shrugged. "Suppose we'll find out sooner or later. They can't leave us hanging forever."

Or maybe they could. Who really had a clue what was going on?

"Wait, what??" James gave Harry a jokingly horrified look. "Snape doesn't have a soft spot for me? What have you that idea?" But his lighthearted manner fell away quickly this time, and he automatically looked towards Remus again. "I hope you're right." James shook his head absently. "Nah, we'll take him out. Hopefully it'll work and everything will be fine. If not, then at least we know what we're doing."

He should probably go check in with Remus, actually. James had kind of dropped him in it with the whole Quidditch thing. He sighed, glancing back at his son. "I better go beg Moony's forgiveness for dragging him onto a broom, anyway. I'll catch up with you later?"
