Savannah loved the game. Playing it was bittersweet. Sure they had won and it was great to be playing, but part of her was resigned that it would never be the same. She would have played even better, scored more, but they were here to win and not so she could show off. Still, there was a certain amount of pride.

When she saw Jamie, she high fived him. "Look at you, finally getting a chance to win when I'm playing," she teased him. "You should have sorted into Hufflepuff so you could have won more games."

She untied her hair, shaking her ponytail loose. "So your father- he's insane, but he should have gone pro. I'm not sure if I should yell at him for the risk he took or compliment him for showing absolutely no fear."

"Sounds like someone has a selective memory," Jamie replied with a laugh. Honestly, he couldn't remember half the games he'd played in school. He made the team first year because it was expected. He played well because he wouldn't be the famous son who failed to live up to his parents' legacies. He remembered the highlights, the moments on the pitch that meant something. But, the game itself had never meant much to him, not the way it did to Savannah. "I'm not nice enough for Hufflepuff, as I will prove as soon as I go gloat at James about not learning much from the old timers."

Snorting, he shook his head. "Don't encourage him." It was one thing for Harry to be fearless on the pitch. Hell, Jamie could understand that. But, it never stayed on the pitch. It always extended into everything. If it meant throwing his life away for it, Harry Potter would jump in with both feet and righteousness wrapped around him like a cloak. "I would have liked to see him go pro like Mum." Maybe if he had, things would have been better...or worse, given the suspicions Jamie had about their marriage, his conception, and this new thing with Malfoy.

"Is the age the problem?" she asked gently. "Or is it what it represents? Because you're an adult now, a year more or less doesn't really mean much at this point. Even if he were older, he couldn't tell you what to do or ground you if you don't listen." Not that she thought any of their parents ever did that. "Except that the baggage isn't out there or with him, it's inside you, Jamie, and you can talk about separating the two so you don't project, but you can't do that. No one could, because your head might tell you that it's two different people and then he will do something that's so much like your father that nothing your head says will impact how you feel and I can guarantee that you will have that."

She sighed. "My father told me that this is the best solution. I get to have a great and young dad and he doesn't have to deal with me growing up. He meant well and that's so much like my father that it hurts, but the fact that he truly didn't want to deal with me as a child hurts too. So you accept that you can't change people, accept that who they were at a young age is just a mirror of who they were at an older age and then you work at reconciling your feelings, because you can't separate them and you will start drinking if you try. On the other hand, I think he might actually prefer if you tell him how you feel, not what happened, because he can't fix that, but if he has something to fix, something to strive for, he might just surprise you."

She nodded. "And I don't want him to make you even more closed off than you already are." Savannah chuckled at the last comment. "His secretaries started with a sense of awe. I started feeling like a primary school teacher trying to make people behave, so the shine was off before I even started."

Regulus/Roxanne
[info]te_regulus

Today proved that Gryffindors were insane. Sure, Regulus liked to win, but he reserved anything that could kill him for important things and certainly not for a Quidditch match against a pro athlete. The insanity of it all was even more obvious when you considered that even if Regulus had caught the snitch the other team would have still won.

Trying to avoid the additional insanity that would come from his brother and his friends, he decided that it was probably best if he found Severus and stuck with him, but before he could achieve his goal he found himself in front of Weasley. "Nice win," he said, politely, hoping that this would be the end of it, because Weasleys were never normal, even when they were mostly Blacks, like this particular branch of the family.

Roxanne was absently examining a bruise that was blooming just above her right elbow. She looked up sharply at the voice, before smiling broadly. "Thanks!"

She was pretty sure she annoyed Regulus, but if she was honest, it was kind of funny. Plus, she was never one to turn away from a challenge, and they were few and far between so far in this place.

"You fly really well," she offered, her bat hanging loosely at her side as she tilted her head in his direction. "You're quick!"

James | Harry
[info]_cervus_
2021-03-28 08:32 pm UTC (link)
James landed lightly, bounding off his broom and falling into a sprint without missing a beat. He was heading in the direction of a far too familiar mop of black hair on the other side of the pitch.

He would have expected to be more annoyed about having lost. James, as a rule, was not keen on losing. But it turned out it was hard to be too pissed off when there were other Potters on the pitch absolutely nailing it. Plus, he reckoned they hadn't done too badly with 540, considering Remus wasn't a chaser and had been facing a professional. Next time, however...

James crossed the pitch quickly, yelling out to Harry as soon as he was within earshot.

"You alright?"

It had been quite a dive after all. Still, he didn't give Harry much time to answer. Seconds late, a beaming James skidded to a halt beside his son, clapping him hard on the back and reaching up to ruffle his hair, leaving them both looking faintly like they'd been hit by lightning.

"That was incredible! You smashed it!"

Harry loved Quidditch. There was nothing like the rush you got when you saw the snitch and were ready to go after it no matter what. There had been times when he'd wondered if he'd made the right choice and then he remembered listening to Ginny talk about training, trying the same thing over and over, and the games that lasted hours and hours before the snitch made an appearance, and suddenly the urge to play was gone. However a game like this was amazing.

He had barely dismounted when he heard his father's voice. He almost expected a hug, because... well, because he'd seen James and Sirius, but then there was just a clap and that now familiar ruffle. "I must be the only person whose hair is better after you do that," he said with a chuckle.

"And yeah, I'm fine. I didn't actually hit the ground," he said with a grin. "It's awesome, isn't it? It's the best feeling, although next time, Draco needs to take Regulus' place. It'll be just like old times."

Albus Dumbledore & Open
[info]oddmenttweak
2021-03-28 09:59 pm UTC (link)
Albus had always enjoyed Quidditch. He'd never played - he was not naturally gifted and didn't have the time or the inclination to put in the work - but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy watching the odd game. And the one he'd just seen, however casual, had been impressive. The sport had obviously come on in leaps and bounds since his own time. Perhaps he should look for an updated copy of 'Quidditch through the Ages' in the library...

Once the game was over, the young Professor climbed down from his seat in the stands, stepping out onto the green of the pitch where the players and other castle residents were still standing and talking in the sunshine. Albus nodded to a few of them, then started making his way across the pitch towards the exit. He hesitated, however, when he noticed quaffle, rolling lazily on the floor a few feet away.

Trending carefully towards it, Albus scooped the ball up and looked around. The box was a short distance away and he headed towards it, dropping the quaffle carefully into place and securing the strap up tightly. It wouldn't do any good to start losing the little equipment they had, after all.

"Diolch, Professor." Remus called, coming up from the opposite direction, wayward bludger in tow. His experience with quidditch players -- mostly James and Sirius -- was that they were super careful about their brooms, not so much about packing up equipment after a game. So, he'd taken it upon himself to track down and lock up the quidditch balls before they lost a bludger to the Forest or something.

Remus had been less than thrilled at finding himself playing in the game. He suspected he could blame this on Sirius' or James' mouths running away from them somewhere. But, he'd gone through with it anyway, since there needed to be even teams.

"I was going to come for that one after I got this one under control," he went on, moving to strap the bludger down next to it's mate. With Dumbledore having brought the quaffle, he thought they had them all, since he was pretty sure Harry still had the snitch. No, on second thought, it looked like there was a beater's bat still floating about out there. When he stood up, both hands where slipped into his jeans pockets. "You seemed to be making a fast getaway."

Theodore Nott

Crisscrossing across the crowd on the pitch Theodore ambled his way through. Sticking around to celebrate might of been the thing to do but so far as he was concerned he had already won before setting foot on the field today. Being on the winning team, well that was just the icing on the cake after all. They certainly didn't win because he was there, but he supposed his playing was passable enough. Really all he had to do was just follow whatever instruction Savannah yelled out to them, and just try. The catch by Potter was really something, he thought. Bloody mad, and very do or die. It said a lot to him about what they could expect from their new government.

Theo returned his broom to it's rack and glanced around at the players on the field and the few spectators. Everyone seemed happy enough, so he supposed it was a good thing overall. It all worked out reasonably well and people were much more interesting when they were occupied. He cast his sights on the few things he had tossed to the side by the brooms before playing, and set about picking them up.

Padma was very confused. And that wasn't something she usually admitted to being.

They were at their parents, routine family dinner. Mother wanted to know if she'd met any eligible young man to date, yet. The answer had been no, as always. Father had inquired into whether or not she had chosen her speciality for her Journeyman studies at the Department. The answer had been yes, although she couldn't share what it was because of the rules of secrecy she had to abide by in Mysteries. She'd pulled her sister into the other room after in order to tell her about the girl she'd met that she couldn't tell their mother about.

And instead found herself walking on...the Quidditch pitch? At Hogwarts?

How had that happened?

Looking at Parvati, she frowned. "What just happened?"

Movement at the edge of her vision caught her attention as soon as she'd asked the question. She turned and recognized an old classmate she had seen around Mysteries as well, although she thought he was a bit further along, like almost everyone else who had started around the same time. He seemed to be picking up some things and was at a distance from a group of people she could see beyond him. Glancing back at her sister, she raised an eyebrow in question before calling out to him. "Hey, Nott! What's going on here?"

Draco and Open
[info]draco_draconis
2021-03-29 04:27 pm UTC (link)
Draco was still riding the post game high, and it was a feeling he hadn't realized he'd missed this much. He hadn't played Keeper before, but it had been more fun than he'd anticipated. Though to be honest the biggest thrill had been watching Harry take that dive. He'd deny it till the day he died, but even back at school Draco had loved watching Harry fly. Well, maybe he wouldn't deny it anymore. There was no real point in pretending he wasn't enamoured with the man. He could be annoyed at losing the game and extremely turned on by Harry at the same time. He was a multifaceted person after all.

Still, he went through the motions of grumbling to anyone near by. He couldn't let everyone know how horribly sappy he'd become in his old age.

Re: Draco and Lucius
[info]hd_lucius

Lucius enjoyed Quidditch. He had fond memories of his own time on the Slytherin team, and one of his greatest regrets was not being able to watch Draco play. That had changed today, and he couldn't help his proud smirk whenever Draco had blocked a goal. The loss was disappointing, but Potter's suicidal (and completely unnecessary) dive for the Snitch would have been impossible for anyone to out maneuver. Regulus was too sensible to have tried.

After the game, he looked for Draco and headed his son's way. "You flew well out there. I know Keeper wasn't your position, but you handled yourself."

Regulus/Jamie
[info]te_regulus
2021-03-29 06:16 pm UTC (link)
Regulus left Roxanne still feeling a little unbalanced. He wasn't sure why she felt so strange. It certainly wasn't because she was a woman. He could talk to women. It wasn't that she was a Weasly, because again he had proved that he could talk to them. She was just... strange, and he wasn't sure he could even quantify the strangeness. Maybe it was the fact that she sounded like nothing at all touched, and not just pretending, but that she literally didn't care. Regulus cared about everything, so maybe that was it.

Still thinking about it, he decided to finally speak to Severus, except he found himself not to far from where one of the Potters dropped Savannah to the ground and they split up. He knew that he could only avoid one and Savannah was exhausting so he veered toward Potter. Hopefully this would just be a simple hello and not another awkward conversation. "Potter, nice game," he said with a nod of acknowledgement.

Jamie definitely felt better once he'd managed to get the conversation off his relationship with his dad and he could parade their team captain around a bit on his shoulders instead. He'd been going to go find his brother, who he knew had to be ready to bolt after getting dragged into the game. But, Regulus Black was headed his way and was definitely someone Jamie wanted to meet. Not that it was possible not to know who each other was in a group this small after two weeks. But, he had yet to have a real conversation with several of the others here and he wanted to make time for that.

Plus, between the two Black brothers, Regulus had always been the one Jamie was curious about growing up.

He heard a lot about Sirius because of his name and because his dad had remembered him fondly, loved the idea of his godfather even if he hadn't had too much time to know the reality. But, Regulus was always...nebulous. A brave young man who died too young. But, never any details other than he'd been in Slytherin.

"Hey!" he replied with a grin. "Thanks, you too. Pretty sure you almost had that snitch before Harry did his death-defying thing at the end, there. You played for your house team at school, right?"

Everybody died.

The castle brought them through time.

Those two thoughts kept running through Padma's head as they left Nott and made their way toward the group in the centre of the pitch. She could make out Harry's presence as they grew closer. Ron and Draco. Was that Draco's father? There were a number of others she didn't recognize straight off, but who seemed familiar. Padma supposed they were people she might have known at different ages, perhaps people from the Ministry or old professors?

But, one thing nagged at her. Turning to her sister, she put a hand on her arm to stop her. They could meet everyone else in a moment.

"This is what's been bothering you for months, isn't it? I thought you were working a case you couldn't talk about. But, it was this." They both had chosen jobs that required secrecy, so they understood when the other couldn't say anything. Now, though, Padma wished she had pushed a little because it wasn't often she saw her sister come undone over one of her visions like she had just done in front of Nott.

Parvati wanted to run into the forest and find Firenze. He would help. He might not know how to fix this but he would find the words to make her feel better, but then she didn't know if Firenze would still be in the forest. Probably. She'd have to find out later, for now she concentrated on Padma.

"Yes. It wasn't something that I understood immediately. Firenze and I spent a lot of time delving into the vision, trying to figure out if we should even tell anyone. It's one of those things that could lead to the end of the world, just by telling people that you will have the end of the world," she said with a sigh.

"It was- I could see the nothingness. St. Mungo's gone, Hogsmeade empty. I could feel it and it was horrible and now-" She shook her head. "I'm scared to find out what happened. What if knowing my prophecy led to this?"

Ron & Open

Ron was flushed from the wind and the win, and still chuckling over Harry's needlessly insane dive for the Snitch. They hadn't needed the Snitch to win, but it was so very Harry to throw himself into danger. Plus, the win felt nice even though it was a friendly match and he'd admit that his team had the advantage with a professional player calling the shots.

He landed with a soft oomph, and hopped off the broom. For an old school model, it hadn't been half bad. He gave it a fond pat, because he'd always have a soft spot for the handmedowns. It had bothered him as a kid, but he wasn't a kid anymore.

Tucking the broom under his arm he went in search of conversation- and if he was lucky, a snack.

Albus had gone to watch the game, mostly because there wasn't much else to do. He didn't hate Quidditch as much as he pretended to, he'd gone to every one of Jamie's games after all. It was more of the principal of the thing really. Plus he was an atrocious flyer. Still, watching with Scorpius wasn't so bad, and there had been a few exciting moments. It was no surprise that his father had done something suicidaly insane to get the snitch. Somethings never changed, it seemed, and that was weirdly comforting.

He had planned to slip back to the castle without having to talk to anyone, but just as he headed for the edge of the stands he came face to face with Uncle Ron. He stopped, awkwardly, and gave him a strained smaile. They'd somehow managed not to talk since he got here. Well, somehow being Albus avoiding pretty much everyone.

"Good game."

Kirley & Remus

Kirley liked Quidditch well enough. Not enouhh to ever have had antly desire to play hisnelf, but he'd grown up with the best in the business and he'd always appreciated the way lithe, powerful bodies moved through the air. And it was kind of nice to watch his daughter slaughter the competition. He could see the resemblance to his mother and sister in the way she flew, but he was almost glad neither of them were here because one of them would have asked who the best flier was and he'd have gotten himself in trouble no matter how he answered.

So the Quidditch match had be good. It was the after-match part that he'd have to adjust to. There had always been parties after the matches he'd gone to, and some of them had eveb rivaled Weird Sisters parties. Today, people were just hanging around the pitch, gathered in pairs or small groups and talking. No potions, no sex, nothing fun at all. It was a letdown after the match, as there was all that pent-up adrenaline and no where to spend it.

"It's just sad," he said outloud, not realizing someone was nearby until atter thebwords had left his mouth. "A good Quidditch match isn't complete without the post-game party."

Remus was just coming back from his conversation with Dumbledore, intent on finding his friends and making his excuses so he could prepare for the Full that night, when he heard Duke's bemoaning. "In my school days, it was up to the rest of the house to set up the post-game festivities. Players weren't expected to have to organize everything after the match," he said with a chuckle.

Not that any sort of party in Gryffindor house had ever happened without input from James and Sirius. No matter what had been planned, they had to add their own special twist in order to make things even grander. It was just who they were. And Remus was never the party planner. He could shore up their plans to the best of his ability to keep them mostly out of detention. But, he kept to himself too much to be great at parties.

Unlike Duke, he suspected.

Albus/Scorpius
[info]the_other_albus
2021-03-30 12:38 am UTC (link)
Al looked around for Scorpius, having lost track of him while talking to his Uncle Ron. It hadn't been that bad, all things considered, but he still just wanted to find his friend and get out of there. There were too many people here, and they were all too loud.

He spotted a familiar head of long blonde hair and made a beeline for it, touching Scorpius' elbow to get his attention.

"Hey. Ready?" He nodded back towards the castle.

Scorpius had barely had a chance to talk to people, but then he wasn't surprised by the two words that came out of Albus' mouth. Five minutes for him were like an eternity to most people.

"I- Not really, no. People are still talking and it's pretty nice out there," he said, shaking his head, because of course Al wanted to go inside. "What are we going to do inside? There's nothing to do." And Al needed to learn to deal with people. There were too few of them not to.

"Come on, let's take a walk around the pitch. We can see what's happening without actually talking to people." It was a good compromise he thought.

Harry/Draco
[info]ab_harry
2021-03-30 01:06 am UTC (link)
Harry was still pumped with the win and his discussion with his dad. Quidditch always put him in a good mood and today wasn't any exceptions. Of course, that didn't mean that he suddenly wanted to talk to a lot of people. there were the usual people he talked to and Ron and Hermione needed some time together when he didn't have to watch them make eyes at each other. It'd be revolting the first time around. He didn't need to witness it once more.

Instead he found Draco and approached him with a big smile on his face. "Next time, you have to be the seeker. It wasn't the same without you up there, fighting with me for the snitch." It was possibly weird and unhealthy, but then everything about him was weird. "Although I told Dad that I might try being a chaser at some point. I want to see what all the fuss is."

Draco grinned back, though it wasn't quite as bright. Talking to his father had dampened his spirits somewhat, even if it hadn't been that bad.

"If I'd been up there with you I'd be dead right now," he laughed softly. "I would have followed you in that absolutely insane dive, and then you'd be stuck with an invalid." He leaned toward Harry, his smile getting more genuine. "It was nice, actually, watching you. I don't usually get to appreciate your skills."
