Holden Bright

SUP. I'm Madeline and I know some of you kindasorta? BUT starting out fresh here, I've got your Ribbonfin Seeker for you!

This is Holden Bright, Ribbonfin Junior, Quidditch Seeker. (He pronounces it "Seekah," he is Boston AF, I feel I need to say this right off the bat.)

- His father is a well-known wizarding literature writer from England, Hippocrates Bright, but he doesn't really get along with him. The rest of his family are Irish-American Boston muggles from Dorchester. They all talk like the Wahlbergs and he feels much more comfortable with them.
- Was at Ilvermorny as a Pukwudgie, you probably knew him from his flying and Quidditch-playing. And literally nothing else. He is fine with this.
- He hates fussing, high school drama, bullying, fighting, all that nonsense, and likes quiet and safety and often throwing himself in the line of fire to see that everything goes back to normal. He's a complete pushover but he always means well.
- Pessimistic, self-deprecating, "a man of simple tastes," he likes eating and Quidditch and not needing to stand out away from the pitch.
- Has such a thick Boston accent you'd think he came out of The Departed. No don't ask him to say "he's not a cop." He'll do it, but he doesn't like it.
- Not a very bright student, but a brilliant Quidditch player, feel free to think some professional team is bribing the teachers to let him pass. Sometimes he doesn't even know how he does, because he thinks that low of himself.
- Needs a boost of self confidence BADLY. Awkward with crushes, afraid of flirting, but often finds himself drawn into all the high school drama and everything else that comes about with being a jock.

As for plot, I NEED IT ALL BECAUSE I COME IN AS A BLANK SLATE. Friends, quidditch jocks he gets roped into hanging around with, ex-girlfriends, girls he can fumble around, ANYTHING. Gimme <3

HI MADELINE, I'm Meggie, and I'm one of the mods! I've never met you before, I don't think, but I'm excited to play with you and Holden! i have three characters:

Diego Morales probably has the least to do with Holden. He's a senior Azurcrest, a talented musician, ridiculous hipster, and a cheerleader for Azurcrest's team. He's very warm and friendly, but unless Holden likes parties, they probably won't cross paths often. Diego is the center of some Ribbonfin drama, though. He cheated on Tabitha last year with Anuhea, soooo yep.

Reid Wainwright USED TO BE Holden's rival Seeker. He'll be getting replaced this year, because even though Reid's a gifted flier, he's... not a very dedicated Seeker. He missed the Snitch a lot because he wasn't paying attention, and nearly cost Coppertale the cup. He was kind of a diva about being a Seeker. Not in an attention seeking way, but in a I DON'T CARE IF WE WIN OR LOSE, I DON'T TAKE ORDERS kind of way. He comes off really unfriendly, but is actually just awkward and inarticulate. He'd be kind to Holden, though, because he also struggles in class, and nearly lost his scholarship last year. Aaaand he was on Thunderbird's quodpot team, so he and Holden have been playing against one another for years. Maybe they have some kind of quiet rapport?

Aaaand then I have Calvin Evercreech, The Worst Ribbonfin. He's in Holden's house a year below him, and is a transfer student from Hogwarts via Slytherin. Last year he was really terrible to everyone, then got knocked down hard, and has mellowed out a lot. He's still really whiny, sharp-tongued and confrontational, so I imagine Holden probably won't think he's great company. Deep down Calvin loves his house, though, and he's very articulate, intelligent and loyal.

I can see Holden getting dragged to some parties with the rest of the Ribbonfin team, as once he gets told to do something on a majority vote, he pretty much goes along with it. And luckily Holden is an ostrich when it comes to drama like that, he soooo can't be bothered with it. He'd be on at least friendly acquaintance terms with Diego.

Holden was very :( when Reid didn't get the position again, and I can see them probably being friends, or at least bond in their awkward lack of articulation sort of way! He stands up for him too when someone gives him crap, a la "you just don't know him that well"~ House rivalry is so unimportant to Holden so I can see them being friends maybe?

He's definitely stood up for Calvin or tried to intervene in situations and talk everyone off their ledges, so while they might not be friends per se, Holden at least has the patience and the understanding to try to be friendly. But yes, he would try to chill him out and distract him and appreciates the mellow-ness.

Yes, that sounds great! Reid will definitely feel some kinship over their shared issues. He's also going to be mad when he doesn't make Seeker. Maybe he'll try to vent to Holden a little, since I think his team (rightfully so) believes it was a necessary change.

Aww, Holden! Calvin probably actually likes him quite a bit then, even if they're not besties or anything. Calvin's not very good at being gentle with people, but Holden seems to have thicker skin. He's a little envious that Holden is able to let things go so easily, but Calvin will get snippy with people who talk shit about Holden.

Sup yo, you know me. I'm Emma, I play Russians. This is Katya Ivanova, the Junior Azurcrest Prefect and basically a spoiled little rich party girl who loves everyone. She will talk to him, she will badly flirt with him, see if maybe he will share food with her because she loves to eat apparently. Um, she has a really terrible Russian accent cause you know, Russian, so there's that.

Really I don't know exacts. Katya is just gonna talk to everyone and be nice.

	Holden is downright terrified of her. Because Russian (they're scary to him, whatever, he totally believes that rumor about the KGB), loud, spoiled, and he is intimidated af. So Mina (

resentfully) and Holden don't have much reason to cross paths, and I imagine a girl who is almost constantly embroiled in petty high school drama is a girl Holden would rather avoid. At best, Mina thinks of Holden as a handsome but dumb jock... tbh him being a complete pushover actually makes him grade-A boyfriend material LMAO but that would probably not last for long if it did somehow happen???

Sy (

stokers) is in the same year and a Coppertale Chaser and IF YOU HATE BULLYING AND FIGHTING then you're gonna hate this guy. Holden being unassertive and a pushover possibly means Sy has mostly left him alone, but last year Coppertale and Ribbonfin were neck-and-neck for the Quidditch Cup, so I'm sure there was a lot of needless aggression and competitiveness coming from the fox side. As the season ramps up again, shit-talk will happen.

And Ravi (

paladins) is a Ribbonfin prefect the year ahead of Holden. If you want someone to help tutor Holden, Ravi would be happy to volunteer. They don't share clubs so they might not know each other very well, but Ravi's the type to take the initiative by approaching people and ask after them. :|a

That is pretty much exactly what he is. Just stand there and don't say anything and everything will be all right. I'm sure there's been plenty of girls who have roped him in as arm candy, which he is more than okay with, but once drama starts getting real he is OUT of there. But he's friendly and patient and "just smile and nod" all the same.

omgggggg Holden gets hives from Sy, seriously. He can literally feel his energy drained from him. But he knows the best way to neutralize a bully is just to take the water off a duck's back route, and Holden is pretty good at that. He doesn't engage him and mostly just nods and "whatever you say, bro"-s him.

That would be awesome! Yeah, Holden definitely needs the approaching, because noooo way would he ask for help. At all. So maybe that can be something they work towards! He can't skate by on his Quidditch forever, after all!

Helloooo, Madeline! I'm Karissa, this is Rox, Junior and Coppertale Beater. She's also from Boston! I've been playing a ton of FO4 which is set in Boston so I just went with it, haha. She doesn't have a Boston accent because she was very specifically raised not to by her extremely high class parents. Acting from a young age and not actually being in Boston much during that period of her life didn't give her a chance to pick it up naturally, either, or you better believe she'd exaggerate the hell out of it to annoy her mom because that's her favorite thing to do. I'm sure she can mimic a pretty good one at this point and it'd be very her to bust it out in his presence just to be annoying but it's nothing you can hear in her voice unless she forces it there.

I don't think Holden would like her much. She's aggressive and prone to fighting/drama, she's pretty immature given her lack of true social experience before ninth grade which means she's very emotionally driven and often unreasonable and she's also showy as hell. Rox is also antagonistic, her approach to getting a rise or a laugh out of someone is oddly the same. Girl can be a bully for sure. I don't know, it just seems like she checks all his "ughhhh" boxes. Given the tension between their teams from last year's Quidditch Cup on top of all that, they are unlikely to be on great terms. Let me know if all this sounds right or terribly wrong to you!

I wish I could follow up with a friend but my only character is this asshole. =X

Then Holden is her exact opposite - his family is a bunch of working class Boston Irish construction workers and teachers and nurses in Southie. He would definitely :( :( when he thinks she's making fun of his accent, because his is THICK. But his way of dealing with troubles is to keep calm and carry on and hope it goes away.

Yeah, she deeeeefinitely does. He doesn't get involved in all the team drama and rivalry, he just wants to play without making a big deal out of it, so he's usually the attempted conflict remediation one from Ribbonfin. Until of course he just gives up and lets them all duke it out, because honestly he can't be bothered. He probably avoids her whenever he can, but trouble always seems to kind of find him~

Holla Madeline! Heather here, and I won't repeat my kiddos intros because HOLY WASTE OF TIME BATMAN but links!

Tabitha will definitely know him. Year above him, yes, but another Ribbonfin Pukwudgie! On top of that, she is captain of the cheer squad, so tons of connections there! While he is very Boston, she is very Philly. I will tell you right away that I will probably suck HARD at that.

Dominic is the Coppertale prefect in his year and was in Wampus. He will be friendly!

Holden and Tabitha might even fall into the same social circles! He finds himself kind of falling into place as the jock boy even if he's shy as hell, but is too powerless to do anything about it, so he just goes with the flow. But he'll definitely get along with her and consider her a friend!

Possibly same for Dominic also! Holden just wants people to get over themselves and deal with things, and he could use someone to be more proactive and headstrong than himself.

Hello Madeline, I'm Kas! If I was a better person I would have put a lot more thought into this but I just got back from a conference and I am so. wiped.

I only have Kurt and his intro is a comment to this post somewhere. In short: he is crippingly shy but making a concerted effort to improve that, excels in drama, and has some classes with Holden. The most important fact is that NOT ONLY are they Ribbonfin juniors, they were also in Pukwudgie togetehr at the same time. I vote something comes of this. But like I said, I'm brained out and 0 help atm. I just wanted to get excited over those connections... and then make you do all the hard work. I'm a great person.

Yes! They probably go way back together, and can be shy buddies together. When Holden needs a break from Quidditch drama and social politics and nonsense, he sticks really close to Kurt. He also likes weird animal facts, and isn't so used to magical animals himself, having been raised most of his life as practically a muggle, so he probably has an arsenal of weird stuff he read on the internet about lizards and jellyfish and other strange animals at the ready. I think they'd get along really well together!

Holden thinks "huh" is better than antagonism, at any rate :p he's really into Quidditch and gets really hyper focused, but anything beyond just getting on the field and doing his job the best he can so doesn't interest him at all, even if he finds himself being pulled into the social sphere of things against his will. Which I guess makes him Marshawn Lynch about the other finer points of being a jock? But yes, if she's in the whole jock group, he'll fall in line, even if it's towards the back :p
