Find the Horcruxes (ooc)

Okay, I hope I'm not being super presumptuous in doing this. BUT! If the Death Eaters are getting organized, so should the Order! And Rita's just as inappropriate as Dulcinea for the job! And we don't have an Inner Circle to post this stuff as it were.

So I can't make a fancy poll, but I learned you can make them on gdocs and already tested it out with Lucius so it is secret! It all goes to a spreadsheet that can be compared with the DE spreadsheet (so secret but to like, IC players and mods and whoever says they're King of the Order! We all know Edgar Bones is Queen :) ) But this way, the Order (and DMLE, always forget those guys) can get WITH the Death Eaters and plan things in a bit more timely fashion. :)

Okay, guys! It's that time again! ... a day late, BUT STILL.

As always, the first thing is the May calendar, which went up Thursday night. Swing by, check it out, see what's coming up this month.

Also as always, the second part of this post is that whole checking-in thing!

To check in, you must have TWO valid pieces of activity to link to. These valid pieces of activity are anything posted between April 8, 2010, and May 7, 2010. A valid piece of activity is one of the following:

• A journal entry (at least 5 sentences long)
  
• A comment war (your character's part of the comment must add up to at least 5 sentences)
  
• A log or narrative
  
• An owl (the original owl and any return owls sent by your character must add up to at least 5 sentences)
  
• (For the media types) A broadcast or article where your character's part is at least 5 sentences long.

You can mix and match those five types any way you want. Two entries, two logs, two comment wars, two broadcasts / articles, an entry and a comment war, a log and an article, a log and an entry, etc etc. As long as both are valid, it's all cool.

Once you're sure you have your two pieces of activity for all your characters, comment to this post with:

- Your name
- Your characters' names
- Links to their two pieces of valid activity (you can mix & match the four options however you want)
- What's going on in their lives right now.

- If you want to drop any characters, list their names separately, but still in the same comment.


You have until the evening (Texas-time, GMT-5) of MAY 7 to comment to this post.

I meant to do this last night, but my computer was throwing every kind of fit and I couldn't.

So belatedly, there were werewolves in Ottery St. Catchpole on Wednesday, April 28th. I really don't have a lot of detail on this, but here's what the calendar says:

"Thanks to the curfew, there are no deaths or civilian injuries, just property damage and scares. A house is broken into, but the family manages to escape."

Fabian was patrolling in OSC and would have sent a Patronus to whoever was on dispatch that night (Caoimhe? Lily? I wasn't sure.) to alert the rest of the Order.

So... DMLE people on patrol? Residents of the area? Order members? Run-ins between DMLE and Order members? I don't know if it was set whose house was broken into or not or who helped them to escape. Mod-types? Anything I missed, got wrong, etc.?

...that's all I've got.

I'm not really sure what to say, BUT the first person to be contacted will be his darling precious wife, and then his darling precious baby brother! Hurrah. I'm going to go ahead and say that some kind-hearted civilian happened to be nearby and spotted it and alerted the DMLE fairly quickly, but Cyril still got nommed a bit and would have been unconscious when they brought him to St Mungo's! He'll be fine though (and not a vampire! thank GOD, he might have to jump out a window ala Nick Harrow). it'd be pretty obviously a wrong place at the wrong time sort of thing once he wakes up and can tell people what he remembers (which is to say: very little). enough to give a description of one vampire, though!

and I don't really know what else to say but email me or comment if you have questions! I'm guessing that by tomorrow morning, extended family will know (since Mrs Warrington is a drama queen and will be milking this for all she's worth).

I've mentioned it to a few of you, but the adjunct professors' strike is over and so we're in catch-up mode here. Which meant lots of training, and now lots of hours answering students questions, and also exceptionally working on weekends as well. I'm also the guest speaker at a conference on Thursday and I've not even begun updating my presentation, so I've got a lot of work ahead of me. I'm not sure how much time online this will leave me, so I'm taking a preemptive hiatus, just in case. I should still be around, but not as active as usual. Best way to reach me should be email.

These next few weeks are going to be rather busy for me as I will be taking what I feel is a well deserved vacation! April 30 - May 5 I am going to be hanging out with Kate in Virginia and surrounding areas, a few days after it I will be at my parent's, and the week preceeding that is going to be filled with all sorts of extra hours at work as I have to get all sorts of insanity up to date so I don't come back to work and want to cry. Seriously, I was out of work the past two days and I came back and nearly cried, I was so behind.

That being said! I'm going to be hiatusing April 25 - May 9. :) I should be around now and then during the evenings until I leave for VA, but from the 30th until the 9th I will probably not be around on the computer or checking the game religiously etc etc. I'll be able to check my email and, of course, I'll have my phone so feel free to email or text me if you have my number and I will get back to you ASAP.

Six vampire heads with their mouths stuffed with garlic (two of which are on a pike, thanks Angus) will be left for the early-morning personnel on the steps of the Ministry of Magic. If anyone is actually around at the ungodly hour of 4:00am (though I can't imagine why), they will see three masked citizens leaving them there and apparating away (one will side-along). Kindly left are signed confessions via Dictoquill for the murders of Nicholas Harrow and the two citizens that had been killed the previous evening, as well as for the attack of Lydia Townsley. Also left is said Dictoquill so that the investigative team can verify through magic that the letters were-not-in-fact-forged, and a typed note:

Found something for you.

So yup, Angus, Sturgis, and Morgan were quite busy.

Khushi, it's up to you if you want one to have confessed to Meredith's attack! So that can be up for grabs if you'd like. <3

Hello, FTH!

So! Lydia was attacked tonight and then had her bum saved by a Miss Morgan MacDougal before anything truly terrible could happen to her. Long story short, Lydia was beaten fairly severely by the vampires, then sucked upon as they had every intention of turning her and then forcing her to see morning. They didn't get quite that far, however, and instead Lydia was just very, very nearly drained completely which has left her sickly, icky pale and with lots of bruises and abrasions and whatnot.

She'll be fine, but in fairly rough shape at first because of just how much blood she did lose. They'll put her on potions, but she'll be out for a while as they fix what wounds they can fix given they were caused by dark creatures and setting the others so they didn't rip open again.

Also, Whit has given me permission to godmod Sturgis and let everyone know that he set up camp at the hospital once he got word because Lydia and Sturgis just plain aren't very good at being stereotypical ex-spouses. (She did not, however, give me permission to godmod Sturgis into doing inappropriate things with livestock, which she pointed out.)

Just curious! What's the likeliness of Magrat being in danger? Since her Aunt is in the order. Or would it be more likely that her parents are in danger? I don't mind if something happens to her parents, but I figured there is some potiential plot there!

Okay so... tonight is the night that the IC will be retaliating for Caracatus' death by attacking Emily Prewett and Rufus Scrimegour in separate incidents. Since we haven't yet finished the logs and this does have a *GASP* result, I thought it best to let you know what's the deal.

The attacks will occur at around 8pm. Isidore, Rodolphus and Olivia will target Emily in her flat. Patrice, Rabastan and an as yet unnamed OC DE will attack Rufus at his parents' house - anyone in the DMLE who was on shift this afternoon will probably know he was going there as he announced it at some point in the afternoon. Thus how the DEs know he's there and not at his apartment. (Leaks in the Ministry are useful!)

Emily put up the good fight and even fired off an AK (it missed... damn) but eventually weight of numbers told the tale and she was killed. Nobly. Bravely. In the heat of battle like all good Gryffindors should.

Rufus also put up a good fight and was badly hurt. However he managed to apparate back to his flat, most likely splinching himself in the process. Thankfully Joanna was there to pick him up and take him to St Mungos.

- I am presuming Joanna will alert the DMLE either directly or through Sturgis, assuming a neighbour doesn't report the Dark Mark first. DMLE peeps could find out either way.
- There will be a Dark Mark over the buildign where Emily's flat is so DMLE peeps will get the word that way.

I think I've covered most important things but feel free to ask questions. Sab, Cassie, let me know if I missed anything or you want anything added or changed.

Need to go fix up makeup in the bathroom now and thank my lucky stars no one was here while I read that.

Hello my lovelies! The check-in period is officially over, which means that we, sadly, have a few removes to go through. We are losing nine characters tonight and two players.

Darcy has decided to drop Minerva McGonagall.
Dawn has decided to drop Hope Dobbs.
Emily has decided to drop Royden Poke.
Kaitlin has decided to drop Marissa Avery.
and Whit has decided to drop Doris Purkiss.

We are also losing Britt and her two characters, Filemina Attley and Xavier Avery, as well as Jenny and her two characters, Hector Gibbon and William Proudfoot.

We are sad to see these nine characters go, and wish our two departing players the best of luck in their future endeavors.

In modly news, with Wolfie having stepped down as a mod and Kate currently being buried by an overabundance of RL, as well, at the moment please direct any modly concerns to Brandi and/or Dawn. This coming weekend, however, Dawn will be the go-to mod, as Brandi will be sequestering herself all weekend (no internet, no phone, no TV ...) as she prepares to present the results of her research study next Wednesday.

Hey, Team Horcruxes - sorry I've been so absent for the past few weeks. Between thesis, Easter, and trying to continue to have a social life, I've been a bit swamped. I just wanted to assure you all that I am not dead, and that I do hope to be back in action shortly - I'm just having a little bit of a hard time getting going with so much else exhausting my brain.

Just a quick thing about this month's calendar, as I've been asked about it by a few different people:

Yes, there are a lot of vampire attacks. No, there's not a lot of Death Eatery, aside from the mid-month plottage.

Lately, things have happened in game that have led to a sort of "well, why aren't the DEs attacking them?!" kind of thing, where someone shoots their mouth off in their journal and the DEs would go after them because of that whole In Character Actions = In Character Consequences thing. And some planned attacks haven't made as much sense once the time comes for them to happen as they had made when the calendar was first made.

So, regarding DE activity ... the DEs can still be doing stuff. Go out and create chaos, guys. Utilize non-related NPCs if you just want to have fun, or if you want to cause plot, chat with other characters about using their family members for terror, but be sure to run it past the mods, as well! And non-DE players? Just keep in mind that if your character shoots off their mouth and attracts the notice of the DEs, we might start up discussions about stuff happening (ICA = ICC!) as a result, regardless of the calendar.

And as for the vampires, that's part of a plot to get the curfew extended to not being just on the full moon, but month-round. It's not necessarily the DEs going "HEY VAMPIRES, GO ATTACK THIS SPECIFIC PERSON," but more of a "wrong place, wrong time" kind of thing (see: Meredith Watkins last Friday night). Unless you want your character to be specifically targeted (see: Morgan MacDougal), in which case, hit up the modlies if you've already volunteered your character to be attacked. (We're trying to not OVERSATURATE the month with vampire attacks, so we don't need any more, sorry.)

Like I said! I've just been asked about these two things by multiple people, so I just wanted to go ahead and clear things up for everyone. :)
