Regarding this log:
Sturgis sent off his Patronus (a bear) to the DMLE nightwatch around 1:00am. That Patronus ("Ruyton-XI-Towns. Ferrier Street. Back Alley, behind the coffee shoppe. Werewolf attack. Come immediately.") was the one and only message received. Upon arrival, the DMLE crew (hitwizards for the most part, as werewolves are generally their jurisdiction) will find nine werewolves bound in various states of injury on the floor, and one unconscious Sturgis Podmore. One hitwizard also saw a second person apparate out, but couldn't ID him or her.
It'll be obvious that these nine are werewolves, by the way. Not only will several of them be growling in an animalistic fashion at the DMLE, Greyback's name will be brought up. Two of the werewolves will have died in the meantime, and there will be Muggle weapons - guns, knives, etc - all over the alleyway where the fight took place. Out of the nine werewolves, only the first two were wizarding.
As far as Sturgis goes, he was hit three times in the chest at close range, so it's not good. One punctured lung, and a whole lot of bleeding-to-death. Friends/family will get the news that he's going to live around 7:30am this morning, but sorry, DMLE - he's not going to be awake to answer questions until about 5:00pm. As far as anyone is concerned, it's just the Head of Werewolf Stuff going to investigate some potential werewolf activity off the clock... and running into trouble.
Oh, and I guess this means that the Hitwizard in charge of Werewolf Stuff during the Full Moon is out of commission. Oops! :D
