And another one!

Hey, y'all! Kate here with my second character: Gideon Prewett.

Gideon is the youngest of the Prewett clan, born on Christmas Eve of 1955 - which his siblings swear was some sort of gag gift from the Powers That Be. He was a Gryffindor, class of '74, and about as popular golden boy typical Englishman as it gets. Two years ago he reached Journeyman level in the Guild of Broomsmiths, and he hopes to eventually have his own shop for building racers - you know, if this Voldemort business doesn't get him killed first. He's a member of the Order of the Phoenix, he lives with his brother in Appleby, and he's just begun dating newly minted Healer Miriam Strout.

If you knew him in Hogwarts, you'd in all likelihood remember him as a pretty good guy. He was a good Quidditch player (captain in his last year), nice most of the time, a fairly driven student, a Prefect, and while there were lots of people who he probably just...doesn't remember, he was never actively looking to be an asshole to anybody.

If you know him in the time since Hogwarts, it would be either because you are purchaser of fine handcrafted brooms from Specialty Brooms, Galway (where he apprenticed and is still employed), because you frequent the same Quidditch pub in Appleby where he and Fabian spend a lot of evenings, or because you are one of those Order of the Phoenix troublemakers or their friends.

So there you have it! Gideon! He needs friends and enemies and exes and all that jazz. :) Talk to me, people.

The VRA demonstration!

Hey ya'll! Since Nick here has a VRA demonstration tonight (8 pm outside the MoM), I thought I'd drop a line in case your characters were in attendance.

It's a larger demonstration of about 50 vampires, give or take. Each held a sign. One side of the sign detailed their employable skills in short, clear phrases. (ie: foreign languages known, writing/technology/mini resumes). The other sign describes what he or she actually does for a living. Most will be unemployed thanks to, as Nick will say, unfair Ministry laws. (Nick's sign, for the record, will read "teaching/agricultural/writing, French, Latin, and German language" on one side, and "VRA rabble rouser" on the other, for the record).

As far as demonstrations go, it did get loud, but it was peaceful outside of the to-be-expected heckling. Nick would have been running around saying hello to everyone and asking for their signatures on a petition to protect jobs for qualified vampiric candidates, and in general being excited and friendly. At the end of the night he would have given a speech detailing advancements made for the VRA as well as encourage participants to write their local pubs to stock the recently-invented blood substitute, NuBlood. Then he would have taken a brief Q & A.

Commenters? Hecklers? Etc? Batters up!

Introducing Claude and Fabian

Hi everyone! It's Natasha, and here are my second and third characters. I really should have gotten to Claude yesterday, sorry. :oc

Claude Zeller: ([info]biblio_phile) fifty years old, widower, Belgian immigrant, although he came to England when he was 17 after the war. He runs a slightly shady bookshop in Knockturn Alley, and will get quite offended at the suggestion that he's a dark wizard. He just appreciates books and knowledge - whatever the source - and if your character does as well, he won't ask questions about politics. Aurors stop by his shop occasionally to make sure he and his customers aren't doing anything shady. He does have a private room for books on the Ministry's banned list, but he's quite good at security charms and those haven't been found yet. He's generally very polite, although anyone who damages one of his books will get an earful. He also has two children who I would love to see someone pick up - Paul, Gryffindor '74, and Amalie, Hufflepuff '76. So you might have a character who just knows of him through his children. And if they got their information from Paul, it probably isn't flattering. And if you think your character should be on his list of select customers, let me know. :o)

He does have some political views, although he doesn't talk about them very often. In his view, the muggle and wizarding worlds should be kept as far apart as possible, as mixing them just leads to trouble, but killing over blood status is idiotic. He doesn't completely agree with the Order of the Phoenix, but he'd do absolutely anything for Dumbledore, so he's a supporter - and probable future member - for all intents and purposes.

Fabian Prewett: (right here - [info]everydayhero), 24, born January 1955, not quite a year before Gideon. He's single and will gladly flirt and will date very casually, but nothing else until the war is over or someone manages to change his mind by dint of very persistent effort. :o) He's a '73 Gryffindor, played Keeper for the team for his last four years, and was captain for the '72-'73 school year. He was also in the dueling club for a few years. He's currently working at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Games and Sports. He's very friendly and will go out of his way to make friends with people. He's also very good at irritating pranks that don't appear to be pranks, so it's best not to offend him because he will take revenge and you'll never be able to prove it was him. Good ways to offend him are to insult his family (not usually him, sorry), insult his friends, make bigoted jokes, or generally be a jerk around the office. He's 100% for the Order and his family, and sometimes a bit too protective of his younger brother and his older sister who he'd very much like to see in play soon. :o)

And, the usual call for friends, enemies, dates, past, present or future . . .

ETA: Just made some slight corrections to that, about 11:43 pm. :o)
