Mine's definitely a real book. It even has graffiti, my voice draws illustrations and writes... uh, color commentary only I can see.

Mine's black, and the pages are really soft and thin, not really like paper at all. It's got a cross on it but that's because Miles is a monk or something.

He's some kind of medieval warrior-monk, but yeah. A Hospitaller, if that means anything to you. Since I know nothing about religion this has been a fun learning experience.

But then you'll miss out on feeling like you're the star of a horror movie for all of fifteen seconds when it shows back up on your doorstep. Mentally add some creepy music and you're all set.
