The next kid is definitely getting born in the summer. And possibly not having any muggle friends. Em had to have two parties so the neighbors could come. This wasn't a problem until recently, but I can see it being a bigger and bigger deal as time goes by and more friends are accumulated.

In other news, husbands are ridiculous and no child needs this many toys.

And not a bad party either, though the Christmas one was my favourite. It's really nice when someone actually thinks about the fact that some people have children and give us something child-friendly to take them to!

Still, holidays are officially over. Christmas decorations are coming down today. For those interested, Santa did in fact succeed in eating all the biscuits we left him, and we are not telling the children that the tree was stolen by fairies. It Was Decided that honesty is a Thing, and we couldn't blame everything on fairies, and since we already have the Tooth Fairy and the Birthday Cake Fairy, that was plenty to be going on with.

Besides, now we're busy with all the fun of planning Em's birthday. In three weeks. Urgh.

I don't recall talking about it last night (I seem to remember being a bit busy with other things), but... any resolutions, darling?

Is everyone ready for Santa? We sure are. Have his favourite biscuits and everything, just waiting for plating. And he'd better eat them all, because we got some stuff from a few neighbours too and goodness knows the kids don't need the extra sugar.

Em's absolutely frantic about Santa, the mere mention of him or the flash of red with white trim gets him all worked up. It's not all bad though, because he's been on quite good behavior lately. He'll kind of stop what he's doing suddenly and go over and hug his sister or one of us like he's trying to make up for having thought of doing something naughty. I'm not sure if I should be worried about how often he does that, but he's not doing naughty things at least.

Sophie's not quite grasped the idea of Santa yet. I think she thinks Christmas is all about the tree, because she's always staring up at it or pulling ornaments off and trying to put them on again or wanting to be picked up to touch the ones that are higher than she can reach alone. She has to say goodnight to it every night, and then do the rounds of the rest of the decorations. I'm starting to think we're going to have to leave it all up through January. Or like, take it all down in the night and say fairies stole it? Or something?

Speaking of which -- Rosalind, the Frigg story did do the trick! Mistletoe was deemed acceptable for decorating with. Thanks for the tip!

But anyhow, it's a good end to the season. And we're sure to make playoffs now, so here's to that.

Needed: Nice myths involving mistletoe. There's a lot of it up, and it's a handy excus I don't feel like taking it all down.

Wasn't someone asking what we like to do on bye weeks awhile back? I can't remember who it was, but I think I found a favourite way to spend them. Spain was very, very nice. I even got ladybird shoes, or at least that's what Sophie's calling them. (Well, she can't quite say "ladybird" consistently, it sounds like "labydird" sometimes and "ladylird" others, but you can get the idea.)

I was assured they'd be long asleep when we got back, but one or both of them has some kind of sixth sense, I swear, because we weren't home for more than a few minutes before they found us, and then there was no getting them back to their beds. Leave them for a couple days and they get so clingy. So it wound up a bit of a dogpile-on-daddy night. Nothing says "the holiday's over" more effectively than sharing a bed with two squirmy kids.

But it's good to be home. And back in the cool, nice as the beaches were. Nice as it all was.

In other news, my birthday is in six days.

It's time for the annual bonfire marathon!

Though we might just make two this year: the local one, as a chance to see the neighbours in a normal setting, and Hogsmeade, so we can get the good fireworks and dance in the fire without being called, well, you know.

But it's supposed to be perfect weather for it tomorrow! Nice and clear and chilly chilly chilly, just what you want from Bonfire Night. Merlin grant it lasts, we don't need any wet nights ruining our fun!

Trying to decide how to handle Sophie with the fireworks. Is just covering her ears enough, or should we use a noise-dampening spell? Or earmuffs? I guess earmuffs would do the trick too. I just don't want it to scare her like it did Em that one year. Thankfully he's grown out of that now. I think. ...but maybe we should hunt down earmuffs for them both, just in case. It won't hurt them to have them, cold as it's getting.

Well it doesn't look like a surprise wedding but you never know

She should throw a party for you. It's not like you don't have the space for it!

I feel like I should probably ask a few questions here, but I'm not sure I want to know.

Technically speaking, the good-luck McCormack only has to be on the team to have an effect, it doesn't have to be playing in every match.

Anyway thanks to everyone who came to the party, it was fun and stuff and Sophie loves all the prezzies, some more than I'd like.
