Gaius Flint's job is to make BAD look GOOD ([info]goodpublicity) wrote in [info]ditched,

Who: Her Royal Majesty Coronation Pye; her Guardsmen Gaius, Emmerdale, Sophia, and Galahad; the Royal Players; and visiting King Gaius of the Flint Dynasty. AKA the Flint/Pye family.
Where: The Flint-Pye home
When: Over the course of Sunday the 23rd of November
What: Silliness. Sappiness. Gaius and Tony attempt to outdo a weekend trip to Spain with familial shenanigans
Warnings: Excess cute. Kinda image heavy.

Since Sophie's birthday was vaguely Princess themed, and given Gaius'... Gaiusness, he felt that it was appropriate for Corrie's birthday to be her day to be a Queen

(Plus, he finds it funny that he's making his Scottish wife Queen. Blah blah history)

Thus, as she awoke, she found her bedroom had been silently and magically decorated with a golden banner in her honour, with purple and gold streamers, and purple and gold flowers.

(It's convenient that Prides and Royal colours are the same...)

Sitting beside her, on a velvet pillow, was a bell. Attached to the bell's handle, a little tag with the handwritten instructions:

RING ME

Once Corrie rang the bell, shuffling could be heard outside, followed by Gaius, Emmerdale, and Sophie entering, all dressed like Renaissance-era Royal Guards complete with epic fake handlebar mustaches (yes, even for Sophie). Galahad followed behind, wearing just the hat...and his own fake mustache.

Gaius carried Sophie, while Emmerdale carried a golden breakfast tray, complete with fine china and, more importantly, a delicious breakfast consisting of heart-shaped chocolate waffles, fried eggs, juice, and fresh fruit.

As Corrie ate, her head guard (Gaius) explained that the guardsmen had an especially grand birthday planned for Her Majesty, including the premiere performance of Her Majesty's royal players in the afternoon, and a visit from the King of the neighbouring Flint Dynasty after dinner (this was accompanied with a very hammy wink).

She was then presented with her royal crown, amidst much cheering from the guards.

As the day went on, Corrie would find the entire house likewise decorated to honour her royal birthday, and would be pampered all throughout (Emmerdale's job WAS to throw rose petals at her feet wherever she went but he forgot after the first five minutes of doing so).

After lunch, she was treated to a performance by her royal players (read: Emmerdale, Sophie, and Galahad changed costumes). They told the story of the brave knight Emilius (Emmerdale) and his defeat of the great monstrous dragon (Galahad) to rescue the princess (Sophie). If there was a plot... it quickly devolved into Emmerdale poking Galahad and going "I WIN!" and Galahad rolling over and wiggling on the floor much more like a happy dog than a defeated dragon but, hey, the necessary story elements were conveyed.

Following dinner was the presentation of The Gifts. Sophie and Emmerdale both presented Her Majesty with hand made kid-for-mom type gifts which I am not googling because it'd take me six hours to find something fitting. Together, they also gave her a necklace which was obviously picked out for them by Gaius, which included their names and birthstones (just pretend Emmerdale's whole name is there... it only let me do eight characters >_>).

While this adorableness was happening, Gaius quickly changed into a king costume, cleared his throat loudly, and Emmerdale announced the visit of His Royal Majesty King Gaius of the Flint Dynasty, here to pay his respects to the most beautifulest of Queens in all the land (they practiced this a lot). 'King' Gaius gave the queen flowers and more jewelry, praising her fair beauty, reciting poetry, the whole nine yards.

And then came the cake.

Yes. That is 100% edible. Including the crown. Especially the crown. There was off-key singing of Happy Birthday and candles and much sugar consumption.

Soon enough, the sugar crash came and Emmerdale and Sophie were put to bed. At which point 'King' Gaius informed Her Majesty that he'd taken the liberty of drawing her a bubble bath and pouring her a glass of champagne.

He then said that he would leave Her Majesty to enjoy her bath in private. Unless, of course, she wanted him there to pour more champagne or otherwise serve Her Majesty's needs (cue second wink). No matter her answer and whether or not bathtime was couple time or Corrie alone time, it was followed by a massage, kissing and...

Well. Let's just leave it at that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CORRIE!!!

Corrie laughed until it hurt over the mustaches, and until she cried over the play. Lots of grinning and laughing and awwwwing over various things throughout the day (especially the rose petals and the kid gifts and the necklace). Flirted with her adorable husband and thoroughly enjoyed the praise and poetry. Altogether enjoyed being a queen, in fact, and hammed it up as much herself as she could do while still awwwwing at her children and the dog (seriously, best dog ever) and being really pleased by all the work Gaius put into making the day special. Would probably have devolved into couple time earlier if she wasn't so keen on seeing what else he had planned, so yeah, by the time the bath was drawn, she was quite ready for couple time.

She totally didn't think he'd be able to beat the weekend in Spain!

He wasn't sure he was going to beat Spain, either. So he's darn glad he managed it XD

Spain wouldn't have worked for birthday anyway -- she wouldn't have enjoyed her birthday as much without the kids. So familial shenanigans was perfect, really. :) She is all <3<3<3<3 my family <3<3<3<3 now and will call Gaius Your Majesty for a week, half of the time with eyebrow waggling.
