Why: Because of presents and alcohol.

True to her word, Kozue had established herself in the VIP area of Bar Kidnap—still pretending to be blissfully unaware of the frightening or ominous implications of the name. She hadn't gone to much (or any) trouble to prove that this was a birthday party, however; she was dressed up, in an outfit a bit scantier than her normal going-out attire. She was sporting a green, sequin-covered minidress and a pair of heels of a ridiculous height. And her hair was even more carefully arranged than normal.

The VIP area was situated on a balcony, overlooking the rest of the club; from there, Kozue was engaged in chatting amicably with one of the older girls from the tennis club, but her attention kept drifting to the entrance downstairs. More people should show up. There weren't nearly enough for the party to be genuinely successful. So, every few moments, she cast a nervous glance downstairs.

The club itself wasn't all that packed; it was a weeknight, after all, and if any of the actual grown-up patrons noticed the steady stream of highschoolers, they weren't making a fuss. And the bouncers had either been bribed very efficiently, or were under instructions not to care, either.

Kanaye nodded. "True, but it means that they don't need ME, specifically. I'm replaceable. I always am."

"Some sort of goddamn number cruncher for my dad's company. He expects me to take it over. Lord knows why," he snorted, "I'd run it into the ground within the first week, if that."

Kanaye shrugged. "If you want to not have a job and take after the kids, then go ahead, I won't stop you. Just don't feel pressured because that is what your grandmother wants. She doesn't matter at all."

	"That's not really how it works, and I'd rather you didn't say she doesn't matter. She does." Kozue sighed. "Or. How it'll work. I 'unno. Hey, wait, if he expects you to take over the company, that means you're not replaceable." "That's not—" Kozue bit back a comment that, even drunk, she realized was just plain stupid, and looked down. "How gloomy. You shouldn't kill yourself, Satou-senpai, it'd be … really sad. And it'd hurt a whole bunch. In a sad, hurting kind of way. And I don't think you could play soccer or sleep with Akuba-senpai or drink whiskey anymore if you killed yourself."

Ah, the eloquence of the drunk high school girl.

	Kanaye shrugged. "Well, that depends on whether or not you believe in an afterlife. You see, if there WAS an afterlife, then I could, in fact, do those things. Well, sleeping with Maeko-chan depends if Maeko-chan goes to the same afterlife that I do, but that seems sort of given." Ah, the eloquence of a drunk high school boy. "If you killed yourself you might reincat--n-no, reincarnate as a bacteria or something," Kozue decided, disregarding any and all religious training thus far in her life for the first thing that seemed sensible. "And I'm pretty sure they don't even screw. But. Ugh. I don't like bein' a sad drunk. 'sgotta be something more fun to do." She finished her drink in an over-enthusiastic swig.

	Kozue actually paused and considered this; it gave her an opportunity to realize that even sitting down, her balance centers were slightly off-kilter. Then, "I totally would, y'know, but I don't poach other girls' boyfriends. 'specially when they're my friends." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"I—wha?!" Kozue flushed a very bright pink and nearly tumbled off of her barstool at that one. "Wh-wh-wait, wha," she continued, a complete jumble of syllables instead of an actual answer. Rather conveniently ignoring the fact that she'd just admitted that she'd sleep with him, Kozue just kept on blushing. "I - um - y'know you can't hold a girl to the promises she makes when she's had at least three whiskeys. Three?" A pause to count them out on her fingers. "But. More than three! It's possible. "But since I'm not sober then sure why the hell not."

She raised her voice and hollered down at the bartender in a very bold move—at least for her. "Hey! I want another drink! It's my birthday and I'm making dubious decisions, so make it something awesome, okay?"

	The drinks arrived. Kanaye took it, smiled at the bartender, and started partaking in his second-favorite past time. Getting completely and utterly smashed. Kozue investigated her drink, and decided she was pleased at what she'd gotten. It was colors. Lots of interesting colors. She shook her head, though, when the bartender looked to her, after Kanaye's request for more; "In a minute. This is tasty, though. It tastes like fruit." She grinned.

Well, fruit and liquor. Lots of liquor. "I like it," she declared, and took an illustrative sip.
