Kanaye just sighed at Toshimi's little display. Seriously? That was what the yaoi fangirl did? Sheesh...

Kanaye just walked outside of his cover and waved to Kazuya and Toru. "Sorry about this, Yoshimi is just kind of...clumsy, to say the least. Ignore us, please." he said, picking her up and going back to the cover of trees, next to Tom. He put her down before smiling at her. "Seriously?"

Yoshimi pouted.

"It's not my fault that the stupid branch broke..." It was, however, her fault that she'd been spying in the first place, but then, so had Kanaye.

"Do you think they're gonna be okay?" Both of them looked kind of delicate! What if pretty boys spooked easily, like horses and songbirds and other delicately-made things? What if she'd interfered with their natural mating patterns?

She peered around the tree trunk, hoping to catch the rest of the action. Her phone had ended up on the ground during the fall, but she could wait until later to retrieve it. Better than running back out there and making the poor boys even more uncomfortable than they already looked.

"Spying is alright. What ISN'T is filming. That's just creepy and defies their love for one another. Would you want me to film you and YOUR boyfriend making out?" he said, glaring. "I didn't think so."

"I hope so or I'll have to ostracize you. Maybe some glaring, some nice speeches. I might sic Misaki on you." he said calmly.

He pulled her back. "No. You get no excuse for watching. We shall leave." he said, dragging her away.

Yoshimi pouted more. Sagaki got to stay, but she didn't? Truly, there was no justice in this world. Still, she wasn't in a position to argue with someone a foot taller than her when he had her by the arm, and she felt guilty enough about the date to let herself be dragged along.

She consoled herself with the thought that maybe someone would upload the good bits to YourShow later.

...meanwhile, Toru had pulled himself off the ground and was staring in horror/disappointment at the two interlopers. Yes, he'd agreed to let Kanaye spy. But that was when he thought there was a chance of his secret contact being some kind of crazed murderer. As Kanaye walked off with Yoshimi, he managed to give them a glare. But really, that wasn't the important part of the situation.

Toru looked back to Kazuya, clearly embarrassed. "I-I didn't that I would be followed." Well, he didn't know that Yoshimi would follow him. And he'd expected Kanaye to be a little more subtle. At least Tom was... no. He didn't want to think about Tom. "H-how about we just forget that ever happened? I-I think we can control the spread of rumors if there were only two of them... p-plus, Yoshimi-san dropped her phone..." He picked up the the fallen device and stuck it in his pants pocket.

"But... you were the one, Arai-sempai?"

It *did* look as if Kazuya had become a deer, caught up in the confusion and shock of hearing a gunshot. His expression spelt terror for that moment, and he looked ready to whirl about and flee. However, he only remained where he was. His right arm raised up defensively in front of himself, as if he expected some kind of attack to strike him. His other still swept behind his back, disguising the Jonquil he'd held.

But, in the following seconds, he visibly calmed and rearranged himself into a pseudo self-conscious way. At first, it'd just been that ridiculous woman.. And then another person had shown up and dragged her off, after swapping some comments? (Of which he'd barely had any time to really register.) For now, he turned his gaze back to Toru. It looked for a moment as if he might deny the suggestion, as if it were all some mess that he'd accidentally walked into. But, he only diverted his eyes briefly, and rose his left hand up to reveal the package that he'd attempted to preserve.

The once-delicate Jonquil was now a mangled reflection of its splendor, the main stalk of the flower having been snapped, and the petals bent when Yoshimi had fell upon him and crushed the flower beneath him.

"Yes. I'm sorry for keeping it a secret from you. I didn't really know you, and.. I only really got my information from people I knew.. and.. This is for you." His gloved fingers held out the crippled plant as if it were the most fragile thing in the world.

Toru was afraid for a moment that Kazuya would flee, and found his hand shooting up in an attempt to stop him. But there was apparently no need. His sempai had settled himself, and was offering him something... a single crushed jonquil, doubtlessly damaged by his falling classmate.

"P-please, don't apologize... I... understand your situation." Thanks to that situation with Reizo, no less. With a gentle hand, he took the mangled jonquil, and held it close to himself. "A-arai-sempai... wh-what you did... it was beautiful. Th-thank you." It took him a great deal of mental strength to shut out the thoughts trying to crowd his mind. There were worries about his reputation, the last shreds of his denial about attraction to males, his feelings about Reizo, that tiny realization of how Misaki might take this, the fact that Tom was still probably hiding in the bushes...

But he shut it all out. Everything in his world was now himself, Kazuya, and the single flower. This was all that mattered, now.

Toru stepped forward, and hugged the other student tightly.

It was all he'd ever hoped for, to see Toru pluck the plant from his fingers and hold it in such a manner. The stuttered words that escaped his lips were all that it took to create a hammering in his chest. It didn't seem to matter now that so many others might be watching, might be recording, might be furiously taking pictures of all of them. His paranoia was washed away.

Those arms were clasped about him in an embrace, faster than he would have been able to react. At first, surprise flickered across his features. In all of his thoughts of how the situation might go, he wouldn't have expected... He'd been fully prepared to accept full-frontal rejection. But, now this.. His own arms wrapped about the frame that was so close to his, returning the grasp full fold. There were no words he would have passed to display his feelings on things now, and no words in his vocabulary he thought would have correctly done them their worth.

"I've got one, last flower for you." He whispered it quietly, trying his best not to disturb the moment between them, his right arm detatching from Toru briefly to pull one single stalk from his pocket. Attached to the stalk were at least a dozen soft white, down turned buds with their petals in a cup-shape.

In the small space between them, he held it. "It's a Lily-of-the-Valley.. And in flower language, it means: 'You've made my life complete.'" A smile, unfamiliar in its own way, spread across his lips. An affectionate thing, and it was one moment that, for all in the world, he would have given everything to experience.

He'd never thought that it would be like this. Well, to be honest, Toru had never expected to embrace somebody like this in his life. His isolation had been so complete, and his only solace for so long had been the characters in anime and games... beings who he'd never touch or even speak with. And he'd never thought that his life would progress beyond that. But after his Shadow... maybe he really was capable of facing things. His life had already changed so much...

It was warm. Warmer than the early-summer heat that they already faced, and softer. Human touch had been alien to the otaku for years, so it was almost a shock. At the same time, he didn't want to let go. This was perhaps exactly what Toru had been missing all this time, during all of those years of hating his own face and that of everyone around him. The locked doors around his heart had somehow been broken down by this individual who he'd never even talked to.

Still holding tight to the other boy, Toru quietly accepted the flower with his other hand, quelling any shakes of nervousness or excitement that threatened to make it tremble. "I-I have?" Apparently, the quavering absent from his limbs had crept into his voice. "Arai-sempai, I..." But he couldn't finish. There were no words.

There was nothing to say. No words of his could ever have ever been enough for this moment, when everything felt so *right.* Where he couldn't control his emotions, the fluttering of butterflies in his stomach, and the siege of his chest's walls by the battering ram that was his heart. He grasped Toru as close as he could without threatening to cause physical injury, holding him as if he were the very connection to the plane of the living.

But he didn't just hold him, his head crept from its nook in the other's neck, and twisted just enough to the side so that it would be easier on them both. This.. was really his first time, attempting this. It would probably be the clumsiest thing.. And he was even partially shaking from the uncontrollable level of his breath and heart. But, he would try.

So, faltering as if he were on an uneasy status of stability, Kaz's face met Toru's. It was a light kiss, where only his lips touched the other's. As much as he wanted to look into Toru's eyes, for that moment.. It seemed a more sacred thing to only experience it via feeling, his eyes closed. He would say sorry later, apologize for advancing into the territory of personal contact.. But, at the moment, all he desired to do was give some physical representation of his emotions. The swath of natural teen hormone-influenced affection, in the form of met lips.

Now Toru was the one who felt like a deer in the headlights. Though he had certainly made the first move, it was on impulse, and not something he could normally manage at all. His was a shy nature, not given to taking action. Even his newfound bravery in Paradise could only get him so far.

Though it surprised him, it almost relieved Toru that Kazuya took the next logical step. Part of his mind was telling him This isn't normally what happens upon your first meeting with someone, anonymous love letters or no. Okay, maybe if the someone is a mysterious amnesiac Girl in a Box. But he's not. Toru's hormones promptly gave that part the finger and shoved it into a dark corner. This was exactly right for him. He accepted the kiss, and refrained from pulling too far away when it had ended.

It was over, that wonderful moment.. The few seconds that seemed like the peak of his very life were gone. It was in then that he realized there was nothing more fulfilling than bodily contact. But he didn't want to press anymore on Toru. He'd been through enough today.. And there was time for that kind of love later, later on when Kaz judged that Toru felt comfortable with it. For now, the last of the hug was shared before he retracted most of the way to his usual stance.

The tugging of his lips, into that smile was still there. The affectionate glance cast upon Toru seemed.. like it wasn't praticed often. Smiling appeared to be a foreign movement to Kaz's face, one of which it was trying desperately to cope with.

"Would you like to accompany me to a nearby diner? It's a quiet place, and it has great food. We could talk there, if you'd like? I'll buy." It was the best way he could mold a statement from asking Toru on a date. Besides, it was rather early in the morning, and he'd skipped a meal to attend this as soon as possible. He could only guess as to how quickly Toru had risen to beat him here. Or.. the other people. Had it just been those two that he'd seen earlier, or were there more in the shadows?

The warmth retracted from Toru, and he was left looking into Kazuya's eyes. That had been... interesting. No, interesting wasn't the right word. That had been good. Like something that had been missing had been replaced. Like the release of an oft-delayed game.

He smiled lopsidedly in return to Kaz's awkward one. "S-sure, I could use something to eat. Heh, I kinda skipped breakfast for this... in retrospect, i-it was probably worth it, eh?" The other boy probably had, too. "You, um... you sure you want pay? B-because you've been getting me these gifts, and flowers... I don't want to think that I'm where all of your money is going..." Sure enough, Toru was falling back into his normal, shyer mannerisms. "B-but, um, lead the way! A diner's probably a better place to talk than this park..."

The outright smile had now faded into what might have resembled a smile, the briefest upturning of the sides of his mouth. It felt.. right, all of this did? Of course, he was nervous to say something wrong or for his mannerisms of self-reclusiveness (already beginning to take over) to turn Toru away.. But it was better to take a risk, wasn't it? He'd risked so much already.. And it was impossible to retract his card hand now without playing it full through to the end. Every bet had been placed.. And he was eagerly awaiting the outcome of the game.

"Okay. And don't worry about the pay." His right hand waved it off as if it were some physical thing he could brush away with a flick of the wrist. "I've been working hard to keep a steady budget, and I still have a good deal left. It'll be my treat."

Almost as if it were a natural thing, his hand opened at his side, offering for Toru to take it. But he didn't stay in place to wait, already beginning to walk through the grove to the other tiled road that led down through the small labyrinth of trees to the park's end. How much could have been recorded in the minutes that passed between them, he wasn't even sure. How many text messages, how many photos, how many videos.. Well, they had one phone from that odd girl who'd crashed down, didn't they? And that other blond guy.. Whom had disappeared shortly afterwards. Where was he now? Where was the other girl? How many people were watching? Well.. At least all of this would be forgotten soon.. Wouldn't it be? There were more important things than the dating schemes of two young teens.. Wasn't there?

Toru nodded. "I-if that's what you want... er, next time, I can pay, though." He wasn't sure if there was a societal etiquette for going on dates of this nature. And he certainly didn't want to think too hard about it. Thankfully, he was distracted by Kazuya's discreet offer of a gloved hand. Toru grabbed it without thought or question, and began to move along with path with the other boy.

As they moved along, he recalled something. There was something in his pocket that hadn't been there before. On closer inspection, it was Yoshimi's phone. Though it wasn't like Toru to stick his nose into other peoples' business, he had a bad feeling about what the phone had been employed for prior to his classmate's unfortunate landing. A quick check of her photos and videos confirmed it. There was one video that spelled trouble for them, for certain.

"A-arai-sempai... should I delete this? I-I know it's not my phone, b-but... it's probably better if this video never sees the light of day. Y-you know how the Internet is..."

He was glad for the touch of Toru's hand on his own the second it arrived. At first, he'd worried that the gesture was too much, that simply walking together, that the pure acceptance of his offer was more than enough.. But all the same, it was reassuring to feel the grooves of Toru's fingers in twined with his gloved digits. There was always something reassuring about his presence, in general.. The basic acceptance that both of them shared for each other. It was a kind of air that he could relax in, and it was easy to retain the light smile that way.

However, his attention was quickly snapped away from the silence to the phone that was raised for his inspection. At first, he wasn't sure what Toru was talking about, delete something..? And then he realized all too regretfully that the video was of Toru and Kaz's first approach. Up until the female's fateful fall. Ah, so Toru had picked up her phone? She must have forgotten it during the rush to rearrange herself into a position that was of more subtlety. Not that it had really helped her. And.. he was asking Kazuya? He was being given control of Toru's action? Almost immediately, his brain refused it. Putting reins in the hands of the self-made slave, it didn't seem to make sense.

"Oh, uhm. Y-you can choose what to do with it, Ishinomori-kun." The words were stuttered out with an unusual amount of abruptness, of which he seemed to regret the moment they slipped from his mouth. "Uhm, I mean, I don't think it's my place to decide what to do with anyone's property.. Oh.. and c-can I call you Toru-kun?" Kazuya's teeth gnashed down upon his own lip the moment the last syllable escaped him. It was their first meeting, and, well, sort-of date. He felt awkward asking to call Toru by his Yobisute (given name) so soon, but he would have given Toru permission immediately if the other had asked. He wouldn't have thought Toru would even need to ask, for he would have just accepted it nevertheless with a smile. Toru could call Kazuya whatever he wished.

It was clear that the rest of the party had no sense of stealth, but Tom knew that already. He had opted to not reveal himself when Yoshi had fallen, and was pretty glad that Satou had stepped in.

When the boys moved off, Tom slipped from his hiding spot... into a new one. Not only was he intent on avoiding the two boys seeing him as he followed, but he didn't want anyone else to see him following them.

Certainly Arai had to have something truly sinister planned, and it made sense to put Ishinomori at ease before luring him into a trap. Tom wondered if this marked Arai as the killer. This cast even more suspicion on Shirai.

Either way, time would tell, and Tom would know. He would tale them for the whole night if he had to, and if Arai tried to do anything to Ishinomori, Tom would be there.

Holding Kazuya's hand was an oddly simple thing, but one that was infinitely satisfying. Though it took no mental or physical effort, it generated a glowing happiness within Toru. Would someone else's hand feel this way, if held just so? No way to tell, and Toru figured that he didn't want or need to know.

"A-alright, I'm going to delete this, then. I, er... I'll tell her that it was damaged by the fall. That sounds believable, right?" With a few deft movements of his thumb and not even a downward glance, he erased the sole piece of physical evidence of his meeting with Kazuya. "Th-there... it's gone, now. We'll probably be better off, this way..." With that, he stuck the phone back into his pocket, and returned his full attention to the other boy. "Um... y-you can call me Toru-kun, if you want to... I-I have no problem with that. B-but, should I keep calling you Arai-sempai, then? I-I can call you Kazuya-kun, if you want..." This was indeed a strange meeting. What upperclassman asked permission to use his kohai's given name? Truly, Kazuya struck Toru as extremely polite.

For a moment there, he thought he'd noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A flicker of color that had appeared and gone in the speed of an eye's blink, and when he tilted his head back to inspect just exactly the color's true form.. There was nothing. Was there anything at all, in the first place? Well, it didn't matter. Probably just some animal darting by.

He turned back to Toru with the best he could offer (and what was passable) for a smile. He hadn't thought him to be one to enjoy media attention in any quality anyway. Even if he had, Kaz wouldn't have chosen to object in the case he wanted to keep the video. Although, there would no doubt be some word of mouth going around, even if in the smallest degree. But it was okay if Toru was around, wasn't it? He could suffer any rumor if he had the chance to hold hands with this person at the end of the day.

"You can call me whatever you'd like to, Toru-kun." His lips rounded the name for the first time, and as if it were foreign, he had a tad bit of trouble actually speaking it. It seemed.. odd to be calling him by his given name, but at the same time, pleasing. He'd earned a chance to call him by something affectionate, and that was all he could ever ask for. "Oh, and do you have a phone as well? We could trade numbers."

When Kazuya turned his head, Toru did, too. He patently did not see whatever had alerted the other boy, and tried to put it out of his mind. Was it Tom, or another person trying to spy? At this point, it probably didn't matter that much. If three people knew, and two of them were Kanaye and Yoshimi, there probably wasn't much he could do about the situation. Once again, best not to think too much about it.

"Then I'll call you Kazuya-kun." Toru wasn't used to using the suffix. Everyone in the group was either "sempai" or "-san" to him, Reizo most of all. In fact, the only people other than Kaz that he ever really used it for were Seiji and Kiyoshi in his class. And such formalities as proper suffixes were more than unnecessary on the Internet. "I-I do have a phone... hold on, let me get it..."

Toru reached into his other pocket and pulled out his own phone, a slick new model suited for playing games. Hanging off of it was a plastic phone charm of Katsume Niko, the ever-popular Choraloid mascot. "My number is ***-****-****. What about yours? Y-you'd be the first friend to give me his number..." This, of course, was not counting the number for his Persona and the numbers of his teammates. Those weren't really numbers traded with friends, though.

His hand reached into his pocket to fish his phone from the jumbled amount of cash he kept in the recesses of clothing. As Toru spoke, his thumb darted to press the numbers that added up accordingly. All of it under Toru-kun. Now they had a link to each other through everything, didn't they? He was happy to have something to be called by.. Something special, too. It was something they could share.

"Okay. Oh, my number's ***-****-****." A small smile flashed over his lips, and he did his best to sustain it. Unfortunately, his face simply did not wish to cooperate with such things, and he found the twist of lips constantly fading back into a neutrality. "I'm also honored to be the first, but I hope I won't be the last. You're a very kind person, Toru-kun."

The diner was fast approaching, a smallish lot which would have been easily overlooked. And from the glass panes which served as the windows to the inside and out, the building curved back into a deeper area. Small to medium sized tables seemed to dominate the majority of the room, but near the back were a few booths. These booths were cut off from the rest of the room by a wall which could be bypassed by two walkways on either flank of the wall. Kaz, as if it were something that was considered perfectly natural, opened the door for Toru and offered him a curious glance on their way in. "Where would you like to sit?"

Toru quickly entered the number as Kaz read it off, fingers a well-trained blur. Being a gamer did result in certain benefits of dexterity, if nothing else. "Thanks. It's... er... a-an honor to have this number, really. Calling you would be better than leaving messages in my shoebox, r-right?" Digits now saved safely within it, the phone was stuck back into his pocket, leaving the little phone charm sticking out to swing back and forth with Toru's movement.

The diner was one that he didn't recognize; hardly surprising, considering that Toru barely ever left Nanakamado's campus for any reason. But it looked small and pleasant, and that was enough. He ducked past Kaz when the door was opened for him, with a sort of half-amused, half-flattered look on his face. "Um... th-thank you, Kazuya-kun! You, er... you really didn't need to do that for me, though..."

After a quick glance around the diner, Toru settled his attention on the booths in the back. They looked cozy, and definitely more private. Not being near the windows helped. He didn't want to think of the spying that could occur if the two of them sat near the front. "How about we sit in one of the booths in the back? W-we'd be able to talk more freely, since they're more... er... private."

It was an honor for Toru to have his number? It struck him a little, to hear that. Most people weren't really.. honored to be associated with him in any way, from his experience. He often got the impression that he was more or less a tolerated, slightly liked/disliked presence. As well, the note to him opening the door was a foreign thing. It seemed common courtesy (as well as nature) to do so about Reizo and his group. Then again.. This was not really that.

At the choice of seating, he nodded a response, gladly crossing the room towards the booths which nestled nicely in a private space. It was perfect, in his opinion. They were hidden back in the room, away from sight and attention.. There was just a reclusive aspect to it all that he admired. Plus, they did look comfy, and he was hungry. So, win win? Even more so that Toru was here, and that they could talk. He supposed there were a few things that he should explain (or attempt to).

There was a window near one of the booths, which looked innocent enough in its view of the surrounding area.. Also, from the positioning of the building, it looked a little high up from the ground. It wouldn't be a risk to anyone watching, would it? With this in mind, he slid into the couch-like seats.

"Thank you for joining me." A faint smile, which fluttered away as soon as it rose. "Is there anything you'd like to ask me, or anything I can clear up for you? This must be something of a shock for you. To have me be the one. I know I'm not the most desirable person for someone to find." He trailed off at that, but retained the ambience of happiness.

Tom frowned. He inwardly cursed Ishinomori for not getting them to sit more out in the open. But then he had managed to say his phone number in an obvious enough way that Tom could communicate with him.

He stepped through the doors of the diner, and moved to a table. He was on the other side of the wall form his targets, as he didn't want either of them to be suspicious of him being there. But he was close enough to hear them as long as they weren't whispering. He couldn't hear clearly, but it was something.

He suddenly realized that he would have to order food, and resolved to do so and avoid eating it.

He slipped out his own cell phone and quickly typed a text to Toru.

I'm close by. If he tries something, we can take him together.

keep him talking, maybe he'll reveal something incriminating. If you dial my phone and set it to speaker I can listen in."

Toru seated himself in the booth so that he could face Kazuya, both for chatting and so that perhaps he could get a better look at the other boy's face. Up until this point, things had been moving at a whirlwind pace, and he'd hardly gotten a chance to think or even take much of a good look at Kaz. In this quiet, enclosed, almost isolated space, it felt like being the only two characters drawn into a scene.

...ultimately, his thought processes considered Kazuya's appearance, as they were given to doing. The world on the other side of the fourth wall was, however, spared them, as at that point Toru received a text message from Tom. He got my phone number!? As he typed out a fast and furious Not now, Tom, he smiled sheepishly at the other boy. "Er... just somebody from the Anti-Bullying Club. Th-they like to keep in touch about... club activities. S-sorry..." The phone went back into his pocket, and Toru dearly hoped that Tom wouldn't bother him again. Knowing his sempai, he was probably standing outside of the diner, in the shadows of some alley...

"Ah... I-I guess the one thing I do want to ask you is... w-well, why me? I mean, I-I don't want to sound rude or anything, b-because I'm really happy about it, but... we've hardly even met before, r-right? How did you... er... find me?" It truly confused Toru that an upperclassman he'd never talked to or hardly even seen before was attracted to him, of all people.
