Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current music:Morphine - Have a Lucky Day
Entry tags:kiriko, misaki, reizo, takumi

Who: Reizo, Kiriko, Misaki, Takumi
What:  Reizo's having a very fun day.
Where:  In the back alleyways near school.
When:  Monday evening
Why:  Because everyone hates him.

Reizo pursed his lips and dabbed gingerly at them with a rolled up strip of blood-smattered cloth he’d finished pulling off of the bottom of his shirt. His lip was busted, and his knuckles were torn from having hit so many people in the mouth, but beyond that and a few bruises he was no worse for wear. He sighed and leaned back heavily against the chain link fence the box he was sitting on was positioned against, and surveyed the scene he’d just created. Several other boys were all laying on the ground, most unconscious, but a few were groaning and holding various parts of their beaten bodies. Looking almost unimpressed-- either by the paltry numbers or the lack of real injuries he’d managed to inflict-- he fished a bent cigarette out of his pocket with a bloody hand and tucked it between his lips, lit it, and tipped his head back to stare up at the sky.

He knew the others, the cowards, were a ways off, surveying him from a distance. Would they bother attacking him now that their numbers were lessened? Did they have some sort of ace fighter like he always saw in the movies, just waiting to show up at the end and beat him to a pulp? He decided it didn’t much matter as he stood up, grabbed his school jacket and moseyed off. Every encounter seemed to be getting more vicious and he didn’t feel like waiting around for more morons with bats to show up. Pretty soon they’d be showing up with knives.

He turned a corner, ignoring the sound of rapid footfalls on cement behind him. They stopped a distance away and he knew they were just gathering up their beaten members to properly tuck their tails between their legs and speed off. Something of a smile tugged at his lips as he heard the footfalls again, slower this time and accompanied by a few groans.

It almost amused him. Almost.

Her eyes were on the sky as she walked along, uncharacteristically late on the way home and decidedly solemn while doing it. Packed into her bag were notes she'd scribbled after an informational talk with the psych teacher rather than notes from her classes. She hadn't been able to concentrate.

Sighing, she rounded the corner, only to stop walking almost immediately afterwards.

She stared at Reizo for a few moments, simultaneously surprised to see him and entirely nonplussed at his current condition. Just bad luck, she supposed.

"Hello, Shirai-san," she said, politely. "You're looking well today."

His mood, approaching happy, halted to a screeching crash when he encountered the girl. He eyed her, dark eyes skating over her as if he were sizing her up, then he heaved a sigh. He had the sudden urge to jog back and find the guys with the baseball bats again. At least they had something approaching a decent sense of humanity. He knew this girl was more trouble than she was worth when she’d first approached him, and having a trickster for a summon able.. Whatever they were, well, that just sealed the deal.

“Whaddaya want, Ikeda?”

She shrugged, eyes drifting from the blood on his knuckles to the path beyond her violent cohort. She looked tired, and her quiet was most certainly unusual. Her eyes stayed glued to the sidewalk as she answered him.

"From you, nothing. I'm just heading home."

“Hell does that mean?” He sneered, cocking his head to one side. God, she’s the one who approached him! He frowned after that, a little puzzled by how crestfallen the pretty girl looked. Usually she was all poise and stoic grace, but right now she was openly.. Well, he didn’t want to say depressed.

“What’s gotten into you? And why’re you heading home so late?” Something seemed to click, and he held back a laugh. “Did you have detention or something?”

"I'm not a bad student, unlike some people," she answered with a frown, apparently riled by the way his mouth twisted into a smile. It looked like he was holding back laughter. "I was just staying to talk to a teacher about some stuff, that's all."

The wind changed and smoke from his cigarette blew into her face and burned her nostrils. She cleared her throat, but she wouldn't allow herself a cough. Running into Reizo always made her feel like she was entering some kind of a contest, and if she gave too much, he'd walk all over her. She wasn't in the mood for it right now - she just wanted to go home and sleep until midterms provided an adequate distraction.

As she was about to leave, she heard a familiar voice calling her. [continued below, obviously.]

Misaki had been walking back from the grocery carrying a bag of ingrediants for working on a new soup she'd found in a international cook-book. Smiling some she was in a happy sort of mood. Ito-san, or rather Keiichi-senpai, as he wanted her to call him, had been so complimentery too her it had cheered her up...Almost. There were thoughts nagging in the back of her mind over his reason for asking her to do so, and still more pressing was the matter that she'd heard gossip around that Oubai-senpai's shoes were still in his locker. She wanted to get there early so she could look and see. If they were there then....Then what? What could she do?

She almost wanted to go to his family resturant and ask to see if he was there, but considering the way he had acted to her in the alley, she was a bit nervous about even talking to him again. He had scared her. Lost in her daydreams she only stopped whenshe noticed Ikeda and Shirai talking to one another. She blinked, were they friends? It was pretty hard to see them as such, but as luck would have it they seemed to be on friendly terms. Heading over she smiled at them.

"Ikeda-san, Shirai-san! Good afternoon," Misaki said cheerfully then blinked when she got a good look at Reizo and looked to Ikeda, "What happene to Shirai-san, Ikeda-chan? He looks terrible. Um...do you want a steak for your eyes, Shirai-san?"

Her head snapped back up when she heard the greeting from Misaki. Great, just what she needed - the belligerant shitzu on one side and the most aggressively friendly person she knew on the other. She really wasn't in the mood for this. All the same, she nodded.

"I don't think you should worry about it, Misaki-chan." From the corner of her eyes, she looked at Reizo. He probably thought walking around with a bent nose and blood on your chin was pretty cool - that's just the kind of guy she pegged him for. Like hell he'd want an ice pack or anything to soothe the pain until he was done showing off his battle scars.

Tsk. Did he really look that bad off? He didn’t get that much hell, bunch of weaklings. He was frowning at the two of them. The jealous looks he’d been getting from Kiriko’s admirers were amusing, just adding in Misaki’s was gonna stir the pot, so to speak. He wondered vaguely how long it’d take for them to gang up and try and do something to him. It made him chuckle.

Coughing to cover up the laugh he let slip, he shook his head violently, “No, but if you're offering one I could use a bite to eat.”

He winced when he had to actually peel the cigarette butt off of his bloodstained lower-lip and reached for another at the same time.

Misaki looked between then then saw the wince and looked to Ikeda, "But he's in pain Ikeda-san, and he's bleeding. You should really sit down Shirai-san!"

Fishing through her bag she found the ice cream she was intending to have at home. She could always get some more later, and held it out to Reizo. "Here, it's not a steak, but the cold should stop the bleeing on your mouth, and you can always put it up to your black eye. What...What exactly happened?"

She looked between then and gasped, "Oh, did someone get into a fight with you over Ikeda-chan, Shirai-san?"

This was lame. Extraordinarily lame. He had two pretty girls in his home, and one was trying to teach him to cook while the other was just lazing around. Maybe his view was skewed by the previous experiences he’d had when he brought girls over-- schoolmates were not the same as some random chick at the mall, afterall, but this was.. Boring. Watching shit with people never really did much for his mood. Scratching the back of his neck, he continued to scour the contents of the entertainment system, fingertips glancing from spine to spine of the DVD cases. Most of his collection consisted of kung fu movies, b-horror, and the occasional drama or film noir import.

Defeated by the idea of nervously watching two girls watching one of his movies, he stood up and made his way back to the kitchen. At least this way he had something to do.

“Nevermind that. I don’t have anything interesting, anyway. Maybe you should go ahead and teach Kiriko and I to cook, … Rabbit-chan.”

She had been leering at him picking through his movies over his shoulder, paying particular attention to some of the awful slasher titles, many of which had puns for names. When he spoke again, her attention shifted to Reizo. She wasn't so presumptuous to say that she was the kind of person who could smell fear, but she was usually very good at reading people, and as far as she was concerned, even a monkey would be able to tell that Reizo was subdued.

For some reason, it amused her.

She supposed it wasn't hard to figure out why being on home turf with them put him on his toes, but that didn't make it any less funny, really. Apparently, nothing but the prospect of casual friendly activities made him nervous.

"If I have to," she said, nonchalantly leaning down over the movies again once Reizo had made his departure. "But I don't know why I need to learn."

"Because it's fun, and besides, I want to try Puppy-kuns cooking!" Misaki grinned at him excitedly. She cocked her head some as she followed Reizo into the kitchen. She made sure to keep her cheerful look at him as she said Puppy-kun. Glancing back over to the TV she pouted some.

"Oh but I did want to watch one of the dramas you had Shirai-san, maybe next time when we come over we can watch them. I'm sure that would be fun."

“Because you’re not going to sit around my damned house while others work,” he snarked at Kiriko, eyeing her from the other room. “And it’ll be at least something you can advertise when you finally quit being afraid of boys and decide to get involved with one,” his tone was mocking, after all, she did have a reputation for shooting down boys left and right.

The growing smirk disappeared when Misaki addressed him as puppy..-kun. In his own home, at that. He whirled on the pink-haired girl, face locked in a snarl and lips split open to reveal teeth, teeth which presumably he’d use to make good on his earlier threat. Boxing the poor girl in in the kitchen, he leaned in closer to her, then paused, expression wavering. The way she kept at it and the way she’d just accepted it before was a little off to him-- no one agreed to wanting to be bit.

He frowned while staring her in the face, then casually backed away from her. She couldn’t want to be bit, right? Then why did he suddenly feel so awkward about doing it? Maybe he’d threaten some other sort of bodily harm next time, one that didn’t involve putting his mouth on her.. Just what the hell had he been thinking?

"Ummm Shirai-san, why are you growling like that? You look kinda like one of those weird gifts that people get from Tokyo when they get back. You know the sorts that were from the tourist shops and stuff," Misaki looked at him confused. She never really believed he was going to bite her. It would be silly for him to do so, besides that, what was he going to bite? Her neck, her arm? If he bit her on the neck someone would think he liked her or something, or they would think he was way into the Vampire scene that was starting to grow. If he bit her on the arm, well she could just throw it off as a cat bite or something. After all the only one in her family that would probably look was her younger brother, and he probably would just think she was being silly.

Still the fact that he was staring at her so long and had pinned her back like this was turning her cheeks red and she flushed, and was grateful when he backed down. "Um...Shirai-san are you okay? You look a bit ill."

Old men are always perverted..
[info]some_other_dog

Several minutes and eyebrow wiggles with accompanying stories of how much of a stud the shopkeeper was back in his day and how he was glad at least Reizo was as big of a “heartbreaker” as he was, and Reizo was back at the door, blushing furiously due to one of the ribald jokes the old man managed to sneak in before he could run out of the store. The old man was actually a refreshing breath of air from the cigar-smoking, gun-toting thugs he’d grown accustomed to back home, and Reizo liked to think he was nice.. But not a very good role model for him, unless he decided to become a professional gigolo, anyhow.

He cracked the door open and peaked inside, and when it looked like nothing was really happening he stepped all the way in and made his way back to Misaki with the goods.

“The old man said it was free if both of you gave him a kiss next time you saw him,” he joked.

Misaki jumped when she heard Reizo's voice and turned fast. She laughed some and grinned, "Well sadly I don't think Kiriko-chan and I can just hand those out."

"Welcome Back," She beamed at Reizo, much like a perfect little house wife greeting a salaryman coming home. "Oh did you get something special for Kiriko-chan?"

Kiriko was still entering Misaki's number into her phone when Reizo burst back in, leaving her grateful for the distraction. Such heart-to-hearts always made her feel a bit uncomfortable, especially when she wasn't the one leading them.

"Guess I'll have to straighten a few things out with the old man on my way back down," she said with a gratuitois eyeroll. At the mention of a "something special," she inclined her head towards the grocery bag. She doubted there was anything in it for her, but was still curious to see.

He blinked dumbly for a moment, then recognition washed over his face. He’d considered getting her one of those cheap ass chew toys the storeowner kept around, but as hilarious as it would have been, he didn’t figure either of the girls would appreciate it and a joke wasn’t worth a tongue-lashing from the ice princess or the normally timid rabbit. He reached into the bag and produced a six-pack of Kidsbeer with a shrug of his wide shoulders.

“A party’s not a party without beer, right?”

Reizo nearly dropped his drink at the sudden noise at the door. He recognized it quickly-- that little brat had barely left him alone since he moved in. He’d even caught him following him to his fights. What the hell was wrong with this kid? Still, as annoying as he was, Reizo considered him more pitiful than anything-- parents barely home, always getting picked on.. And the first person to ever call him nii-san. He didn’t know whether to be proud or offended, really.

The door swung open and Reizo stared dumbly down at the ball of snot and tears, trying to ignore the looks Kiriko and Misaki were undoubtedly giving his back and the boy staring up at him. He wanted to slam the door on his face, yell at him to get lost, that he wasn’t his mom, but Misaki would likely go bananas. Dammit!

He pinched the bridge of his nose, left the door open, and walked back towards the bathroom to find the bandaid and disinfectant, muttering about brats and bitches.

Through tremendous force of will and an exceptional poker face, Kiriko managed to contain her laughter until Reizo had gone off to the bathroom, at which point the proverbial cuppeth immediately overflowed. She was almost doubled-up over the counter in moments, biting her knuckle to keep from laughing too hard. After a few deep breaths, she got a hold of herself and sauntered over to the little boy, crouching down by him at the door.

"Hey there. You're not Shirai-kun's little brother, are you? Do you live nearby?"

Misaki smiled as Kiriko laughed, though she didn't get the joke. When the door had knocked she was suprised to hear the shouting. She didn't know that Reizo had a little brother. Though from the expression on his face it said that the boy wasn't. Quickly checking through her things, and grabbing some cookies she went over by Kiriko along with a napkin that she had pulled from the bag. Because she was already small, Misaki didn't have to crouch much and grinned brightly at the boy. She noticed the cut and pouted just a bit.

"Awww did you hurt yourself? Here..." she gave him the napkin and then the cookies. "You can blow your nose and this should help some. How did you get hurt? Oh, we didn't introduce ourselves. I'm Misaki-chan and this is Kiriko-chan. We're friends of Reizo-niisan. Pleased to meet you." She bowed a little to him.

Nearly skipping into the room, Takumi froze when he saw two older girls there as well. R-really pretty girls. Immediately, his respect for Reizo-niisan increased; Reizo-niisan must be really cool at school to be friends with such pretty ladies! Blushing as one of them crouched by him, Takumi nodded shyly.

"Mmmhmm! I live right next to Reizo-niisan!" Takumi said, obviously proud of the fact. "Reizo-niisan plays with me sometimes and teaches me how to fight! He's really awesome, isn't he?!"

The sparkles were almost visible now. But then, suspiciously, he narrowed his eyes.

"Reizo-niisan isn't teaching you guys anything new, is he?" he asked. Before he could begin demanding answers, the pink-haired girl crouched next to him offering him a napkin and a cookie. Lip jutting out in a pout, he took the cookie but ignored the napkin. He wasn't a baby!

"Miko-chan bet that I couldn't jump over a pile a'boxes, but I said I could. I almost did it, too!" he exclaimed, taking a vicious bite of the cookie. Still pouting, he added, "I'm Minaruko Takumi. S'nice to meet you."

Kiriko had to suppress her laughter again. Apparently, Reizo did have a bit of a soft streak. The kid was pretty cute, though.

"You look pretty tough, I bet you could have done it on a better day," she said with a chuckle, straightening up and pushing her long hair back over her shoulders.

"Actually, we're teaching Shirai-kun something. Misaki-chan is showing him and I how to make daifuki. Do you want to come inside and watch, Minaruko-chan? You can help us eat it when we're done."

Kiriko didn't usually like kids for any long periods of time, but this wouldn't be too long and Reizo's reaction would be to die for.
