Current music:Morphine - Have a Lucky Day
Entry tags:kiriko, misaki, reizo, takumi

Who: Reizo, Kiriko, Misaki, Takumi
What:  Reizo's having a very fun day.
Where:  In the back alleyways near school.
When:  Monday evening
Why:  Because everyone hates him.

Reizo pursed his lips and dabbed gingerly at them with a rolled up strip of blood-smattered cloth he’d finished pulling off of the bottom of his shirt. His lip was busted, and his knuckles were torn from having hit so many people in the mouth, but beyond that and a few bruises he was no worse for wear. He sighed and leaned back heavily against the chain link fence the box he was sitting on was positioned against, and surveyed the scene he’d just created. Several other boys were all laying on the ground, most unconscious, but a few were groaning and holding various parts of their beaten bodies. Looking almost unimpressed-- either by the paltry numbers or the lack of real injuries he’d managed to inflict-- he fished a bent cigarette out of his pocket with a bloody hand and tucked it between his lips, lit it, and tipped his head back to stare up at the sky.

He knew the others, the cowards, were a ways off, surveying him from a distance. Would they bother attacking him now that their numbers were lessened? Did they have some sort of ace fighter like he always saw in the movies, just waiting to show up at the end and beat him to a pulp? He decided it didn’t much matter as he stood up, grabbed his school jacket and moseyed off. Every encounter seemed to be getting more vicious and he didn’t feel like waiting around for more morons with bats to show up. Pretty soon they’d be showing up with knives.

He turned a corner, ignoring the sound of rapid footfalls on cement behind him. They stopped a distance away and he knew they were just gathering up their beaten members to properly tuck their tails between their legs and speed off. Something of a smile tugged at his lips as he heard the footfalls again, slower this time and accompanied by a few groans.

It almost amused him. Almost.

Kiriko was still entering Misaki's number into her phone when Reizo burst back in, leaving her grateful for the distraction. Such heart-to-hearts always made her feel a bit uncomfortable, especially when she wasn't the one leading them.

"Guess I'll have to straighten a few things out with the old man on my way back down," she said with a gratuitois eyeroll. At the mention of a "something special," she inclined her head towards the grocery bag. She doubted there was anything in it for her, but was still curious to see.

He blinked dumbly for a moment, then recognition washed over his face. He’d considered getting her one of those cheap ass chew toys the storeowner kept around, but as hilarious as it would have been, he didn’t figure either of the girls would appreciate it and a joke wasn’t worth a tongue-lashing from the ice princess or the normally timid rabbit. He reached into the bag and produced a six-pack of Kidsbeer with a shrug of his wide shoulders.

“A party’s not a party without beer, right?”

"Beer?" Misaki blinked and tilted her head. "Um...I've never tried Beer before. Although my brother and his friends drink saki when they go out."

She took the Kidsbeer and put it on the table, "Thank you Shirai-san we can drink this with the Daifuki. Oh did you get the things for the fillings?"

“Yeah, yeah, they’re in the bag,” he plopped said bag down on the counter, then looked from the kids beer to Misaki. It was right there on the label. Did she really think that it was normal beer? This poor girl.. No wonder Maeko was protective, thinking of this girl walking home at night alone or being creeped on by someone made even him feel bad.

“Well, if you like it, I’ll make sure to graduate you up to something harder next time yo--” He interrupted himself with a loud cough. What the hell had he been saying? He didn’t want either of those two back up here! They were just annoyances. Yeah, annoyances. He stepped out of the kitchen and back into the living room, taking a seat on the couch while he feigned looking for something on the TV. Background noise was soothing. He’d just have to make sure it wasn’t loud enough to disturb any ‘teaching’ that went on.

Misaki gave a giggle to Kiriko and winked at her some indicating that, at least in this case, she knew it was actually the kidsbeer. Though the fact was that in a lot of other cases, Misaki was a bit slow on the uptake. She grinned as she pulled out the filling feeling a warmness come over her.

"Are you saying we can come over again? Oh that would be great Shirai-san! OH and we can bring Toru-san with us! That way it would be fair, two boys and two girls," she beamed at him then looked at Kiriko. "Ah! I almost forgot to ask you, Kiriko, would you like to come with me for Ice Cream, Wakanata-senpai was going to treat me to some...um...It started with an R and was a drink." she looked hopelessly puzzled. "Well anyway, would you like to come along? I was going to see how they made ice cream that she liked, and I was hopeing for someone to come with me. My treat."

"Um..." she stalled. "Maybe. What day are you going?"

Kiriko was fast learning that it was hard to get rid of Misaki once she'd decided she liked you. She didn't mind the occasional outing, but didn't really want to be dragged every which way. Plus, she had her reputation to worry about.

She helped herself to a kidsbeer and looked over to Reizo with a quirked eyebrow. "Next time?" Probably a slip of the tongue, but an interesting one nonetheless.

The delinquent took up a bottle himself when he returned to the kitche, grateful to have some sort of excuse not to answer What the hell was wrong with him? He finished the entirety of it in a long chug, slapped the bottle back down with a gasp, and regarded them both as calmly as possible. Stupid normal kids. They could be as friendly as they’d like, it wouldn’t mean much in the end though.

“If you two want to sully your reputations, go ahead,” he frowned at Misaki then, “But I ain’t having that otaku in here. Two attr-- two GIRLS.. It’s a whole different ballgame than two girls and another guy.”

Kiriko snorted.

"So drunk off of kidsbeer that you're almost giving me compliments?"

She took Reizo's empty bottle as well as her own and deposited both in the trash, going back to her place at the counter and continuing with the food preparation.

"You should be more grateful for the kind of company who won't break your furniture or leave your place a mess. We're even making food."

Misaki smiled, "It's a deal then Kiriko-chan. We'll have to pick a day or something."

She sipped the kidsbeer, licked her lips some, then finished the bottle. Misaki hiccupped some and blushed. "Excuse me. This is really good. I like it."

"Awww, thank you Shirai-san, that's sweet of you to think we're pretty. Although I think Kiriko-chan is much prettier. Mmmhumm, she looks like a regal queen. I bet she could even be an actress if she wanted." Misaki giggled then thought a moment. "Oh Shirai-san. What did you want in your daifuki?"

He nearly snapped back something about how he probably out cooked the both of them, but managed to keep it shut. That was what had gotten him into this mess into the first place. He puzzled over Misaki’s blush wordlessly, then cringed when she started complimenting Kiriko.

Rubbing the back of his neck, shoulders drooping in defeat, he wafted back into the living room and took a seat on one of the two stools at the counter on that side.

“Bartender, another beer, please.. And, I dunno, chef’s choice.”

"You are the bartender, since we're cooking and all."

Smiling, she lifted her eyes from the daifuki to look to Reizo.

"But actually, shouldn't we switch places? Misaki really wanted to teach you how she makes Daifuki, so why don't I handle the drinks and supervise?"

A winning smile still pasted onto her face, she turned to Misaki.

"What do you think, Misaki-chan? I'm right, aren't I?"

"Well it's fun cooking with you Kiriko-chan," Misaki pouted some but then looked at Reizo and commented. "But Shirai-san did say he could out cook me in the game. So I want to see if what he said was true. Becuase if he doesn't then he doesn't have...what was that word from that American movie I saw...Oh yes....cojones."

She looked at Kiriko, "Is that the right word?"

He glared at coldly at Kiriko when she expertly turned Misaki’s cooking attention towards him. Didn’t his previous explanation matter any?! He shook his head glibly and tipped his half-full bottle at the two of them. He wasn’t prepared to go down that easily.

“I learn much better by learning, and I’m no good at sweets anyway, so of course I’d be uh.. Bad at daifuki.”

He nodded to himself. That would fly, right?

…

Right?

Takumi was a big kid now, and as much as he knew big kids didn't cry - especially boys! - he couldn't help the tears forming in his eyes. Because it was bad enough that Miko-chan laughed at him when he tried (and failed) to jump over a pile of boxes, but skidding his knee just seemed to add to his embarrassment and misery. But the icing on top of the cake? He was bleeding.

Bleeding. As in, there was blood coming from his knee, the wound bright shiny red and mingled with tiny pebbles and sand.

And Mama wasn't there to kiss it better, and there was no way Takumi was going to ask his dad! It may hurt and he may be dying, but he was going to be a man! He wasn't gunna complain to his dad!

So he had picked himself off of the ground and, sniffling and trying to keep back tears, managed his way to Reizo-niisan's apartment. Reizo-niisan always had band-aids and something cool to say, like a new insult or advice on how to beat people up; he'd make Takumi's battle wound feel better in no time!

Standing in front of the door, Takumi did one last sniffle and scrubbed at his eyes to make sure there weren't any tears before knocking quietly on the door.

He waited a moment.

"Reizo-niisaaaaaaan," he wailed, banging on the door.
