Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current music:Morphine - Have a Lucky Day
Entry tags:kiriko, misaki, reizo, takumi

Who: Reizo, Kiriko, Misaki, Takumi
What:  Reizo's having a very fun day.
Where:  In the back alleyways near school.
When:  Monday evening
Why:  Because everyone hates him.

Reizo pursed his lips and dabbed gingerly at them with a rolled up strip of blood-smattered cloth he’d finished pulling off of the bottom of his shirt. His lip was busted, and his knuckles were torn from having hit so many people in the mouth, but beyond that and a few bruises he was no worse for wear. He sighed and leaned back heavily against the chain link fence the box he was sitting on was positioned against, and surveyed the scene he’d just created. Several other boys were all laying on the ground, most unconscious, but a few were groaning and holding various parts of their beaten bodies. Looking almost unimpressed-- either by the paltry numbers or the lack of real injuries he’d managed to inflict-- he fished a bent cigarette out of his pocket with a bloody hand and tucked it between his lips, lit it, and tipped his head back to stare up at the sky.

He knew the others, the cowards, were a ways off, surveying him from a distance. Would they bother attacking him now that their numbers were lessened? Did they have some sort of ace fighter like he always saw in the movies, just waiting to show up at the end and beat him to a pulp? He decided it didn’t much matter as he stood up, grabbed his school jacket and moseyed off. Every encounter seemed to be getting more vicious and he didn’t feel like waiting around for more morons with bats to show up. Pretty soon they’d be showing up with knives.

He turned a corner, ignoring the sound of rapid footfalls on cement behind him. They stopped a distance away and he knew they were just gathering up their beaten members to properly tuck their tails between their legs and speed off. Something of a smile tugged at his lips as he heard the footfalls again, slower this time and accompanied by a few groans.

It almost amused him. Almost.

The laugh choked abruptly short when Misaki responded, eyes narrowing into a glare. He’d known it was her on the chat, the pink font kind of gave it away (well, admittedly, pink could be someone else’s color, but he didn’t know any), but he didn’t think she’d have the stones to actually call it to him face-to-face. Apparently immune to the touching display of friendship, he leaned over Kiriko’s shoulder and towards Misaki, growling out: “Didn’t I say I was gonna bite you if you called me that again?”

He did not look as if he were bluffing. Less so when the glare gave way to a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes but showed off many-a-teeth.

Inside she was trembling, but she didn't want to leave Ikeda-san alone with him. She didn't want to be bitten but she also didn't want to just let him scare her. She couldn't let Ikeda see her like that.

Misaki took a breath and said, her voice a bit shakey as she spoke. "F-Fine...Bite me if you want. B-But if you do, then...Then you have to take the challenge I gave you of cooking! You can't back down then."

She was looking him in the eye. She didn't want to be scared of him, after all he was her classmate.

Having already put herself between Misaki and Reizo, she looked back over her shoulder at Misaki, surprised.

"You'd just let him bite you? Come on, don't be silly." She looked back to Reizo. "And it's not like I care what she calls you, anyway. As long as she isn't calling you silly names while we're at school, I don't see why it matters."

One more glance between them and something seemed to click in Kiriko's mind. She turned to Reizo again, folding her arms and looking smug.

"But... I didn't know you cooked."

Misaki was a sweet kid. Her response only drove the point home further, and suddenly Kiriko was regretting the derisive snort of laughter from the other day in the ice cream shop when Misaki had revealed her less-than stellar grades. She searched for something to say, something reassuring that would get her to leave it alone, when Reizo leaned over her shoulder and interrupted.

"Can you stop that?!" she snapped, swatting him away and pivoting on her heel to face him. After rounding on him, she kept herself planted firmly between him and Misaki, one hand on her hip. "Honestly, there's no need to upset her. You'd think after being in a fistfight, you'd have that all out of your system."

Reizo’s smile broke down into a frown when the two girls BOTH turned on him. Well, not that he wasn’t expecting it, but Kiriko’s response gave him pause. Since when were they so buddy-buddy? Muttering, he withdrew away from Misaki and stuffed his hands in his pockets dejectedly, looking almost like a scolded child.. Almost, if not for the hunch of his shoulders making him look like a stereotypical yakuza.

“Fine! But she calls me it again, I get to bite her! She can’t go around calling me PUPPY.” He threw his hands up in the air, literally, and turned his head to one side, staring down the alleyway to the end of it. A group of people were gathered there, watching, and he thought he recognized some uniforms from school.

“Whatever,” he snorted, expelling a tremendous amount of smoke through his nostrils before he glanced down at the ice cream carton still in-hand. He stuffed it grumpily back into Misaki’s.

“Hmph, this is what I get for defendin’ the school from those hoodlums and risking my neck by smuggling in you dopes weapons? Geeze.”

"Fine," she said, expasperated and feeling as though she was dealing with a child. What kind of reasonable person honestly requests to bite someone? He was like a five year old. Her eyes followed Reizos and she caught a glimpse of the gaggle of people watching from the end of the alleyway. Ignoring Reizo's grumblings, she spoke mostly to Misaki even as she addressed them both.

"Anyway, I was on my way home and I'm sure you were, too. We can all walk together."

She started first, leading them in the opposite direction of the alley.
"Also, about those weapons... I wanted something specific for mine."

Misaki paused and looked gratefully at Kiriko. She felt glad that she had defended her. She knew that a lot of people didn't like Ikeda-chan, but she did. She reminde her a lot of the girl from Origri's bowl. Everyone thought that she was a mean person, but under it, she was just a good person who needed someone to be friends with.

Her smile turned down though when she saw the look from Reizo and the paused when she got the carton back and shook her head, "No, you can have it Shirai-kun. You need it more. And besides I'm sorry if I upset you. It's just... I really don't like it when people call Ikeda-chan that name. She's not really like that, and well, I really think you know that she's not like that either. That's why you hang around with her."

“I do NOT hang out with her, she hangs out with me. Always poking and prodding me about something or another.” He muttered grumpily past a new cigarette. He paused and let out another sigh, head tilting back once more to follow the hazy wisp of smoke threading up into the sky. They were annoying the hell out of them, but he figured this was good training, of a sort. He’d need to put up with worse than these two when he went back into that other world with the other yahoos.

“I don’t need it,” he responded, shaking his head and starting to follow the two again.

“And whaddaya mean something specific? Like what? Don’t go pullin’ any of that anime shit on me like that otaku kid.” He punctuated the end of his sentence by jamming his still lit cigarette in their direction.

"Alright." she said and smiled at Kiriko. Listening to them talk and walking with them was fun. They were, an odd pair, but clearly they didn't mind her company and seemed to like eachother's well enough. She ventured to think that they were almost cute. Well except for the fact that Reizo had blood on his face.

"Weapons..." she thought a moment and supposed they would need them. Those things in that other world were dangerous. Nodding her head some in her own thoughts she smiled and clasped her hands togehter. "Oh can I have twin fans please!"

"Actually, I was wondering if you could get me a whip. Don't give me that look," she added pre-emptively, "I'd rather keep the monsters at arms length rather than rush in and beat them with a baseball bat or something. My... you-know-what seems more than capable of handling any kind of offensive maneuvers."

Her mind flew back to the notes in her bag and her shoulders sunk a little. Ordering weapons, what was she doing? Why would she even want to go back to the stupid other world? Right now she just wanted to learn as much as she could about it to make sure she wasn't losing her mind and then get on with it. Midterms were almost upon them and that was quite enough excitement for the time being. She didn't have some kind of hero complex that would send her into an alternate universe to kill monsters for no apparent reason, and she wasn't exactly comfortable launching an armed offensive on something she didn't even understand all the way.

"Anyway, we can talk about it later. You don't live at the dorms, do you? Should we go by your place, first?"

He cocked an eyebrow at Misaki.

“What the-- fans? Seriously? What the hell is that gonna do to those things? I know that wussbag blonde kid kicked one, but a fan isn’t going to hurt one!” He frowned, and looked pensive, “but they did used to make those old iron fans way back when.. I’ll see what I can do.”

He scratched his head, looking puzzled, then shocked again when Kiriko opened her gob.

“A whip? You got some kinda business on the side?”

He froze dead when she mentioned stopping by his place. Why the hell did she want to go to his house? He supposed it wasn’t such a big deal, but it was so damned close to the school and what would people say about the girls if someone saw them both heading into his place? Wait, why the hell did he care what people would say about them.

“Well I do need to stop off and wash this blood off me. Some peroxide on my lip wouldn’t hurt, either.”

Clicking her tongue in distaste, Kiriko rooted around in her bag and withdrew a pack of tissue. She held them out to Reizo with an expression that was some mixture of irritated and disgusted. You'd think he'd at least wipe some of the blood off his clothes, but...

"Stop off? Why, are you going somewhere?"

Nonplussed, he took one of the tissues and dabbed ineffectually at the blood that’d already dried on him. Then he held out the tissue in her face with an expression conveying what he thought of her that moment: Idiot. What moron thinks blood can be wiped off after it’d dried? He’d need something wet to get anything more’n flakes off.

“Uhh,” he paused, frowning and looking confused. Just what the hell was he doing? With the way she was talking, he’d somehow come to the conclusion that they were stopping by his house to visit. What. The. Hell.

“No, I mean, what’re you talking about? I don’t need you walkin’ me home.”

Nonplussed, she licked the tissue and handed it back to him. Idiot. What kind of moron doesn't even know the oldest waterless-face-cleaning trick in the book?

Misaki looked puzzled. Iron fans? She'd seen those in the dramas that she watched and in some of the late night martial arts movies she'd seen when her family was asleep, but she'd never seen real iron fans. Still it sounded like something easy to use.

She smiled up at Reizo, "We're going to your house. Oh good, I can show you how to make noodle for our contest."

He almost groaned at Misaki. So he’d either fallen into some odd trap of Kiriko’s, or he’d been a dumbass and set himself up for this. He tossed Kiriko a smoldering look, both for this perceived trickery and that she was trying to make him clean his face with her spit. He muttered low to himself and brushed past the two girls, walking a ways ahead of them before he rounded and jabbed a finger accusingly in their direction.

“Fine, come to my house, but if you guys start hearing rumors about yourselves tomorrow on account of some moron seeing ya, then don’t come whining to me.”

"Like anybody would believe your word over ours if it came down to it," she quipped from behind him, crushing the tissue he had dropped underfoot. A somewhat devious smile spreading across her face, she looked back to Misaki, who she was now walking beside.

"So, he does cook, doesn't he? And you're going to teach him to make noodles? I don't know, he seems like he'd be hopeless in the kitchen, if you ask me."

She was nodding as they walked and grinned, "Uh huh, he told me yesterday that he could cook better then me. But he wouldn't take my challenge, so I'm going to teach him how to cook so we can have the challenge. It should be fun right Shirai-san?"

Misake giggled some to Kiriko, "Um...what sort of rumors would be going around? I don't want to get you into trouble Kiriko-san...it..it is okay to call you by your first name...right? I won't if you don't want me to."

It was a short walk to the delinquent’s house-- a very short one. It might’ve seemed a little odd when they realized he was leading them to the little mom and pop convenience store closest to the school that so many of the students visited during lunch and after school, and even odder when the old man tending it greeted Reizo with a friendly smile uncharacteristic of most merchants in the area. Rumors might’ve clicked into place when he lead them up behind the building and up a set of stairs, withdrew a key from his pocket and unlocked the door.

The house, or rather floor, was immaculate, that much was clear from the first step inside. Counters and linoleum gleamed, white carpet looked as pristine as the day it’d been bought, and there was not a speck of dust in sight. Either the boy had a fantastic team of maids, or..

Still, it was obviously lived in. Magazines misaligned on tables, knives strewn out over the kitchen counter, and other miscellaneous things gave it a touch of humanity, keeping it from looking entirely too much like something out of one of those fancy home keeping magazines. Perhaps the biggest contrast to this, however, were the various delinquent paraphernalia laying around: skin magazines, the odd improvised weapon lying around, and yes, even a gun case tucked away in the corner of the living room.

“Try not to touch anything that looks dangerous,” he muttered, glad he hadn’t actually looked at them since stepping through the thresh hold. He was nearly at a loss for words, and he could swear he felt himself blushing, and that was definitely a bead of sweat he felt crawling down his spine. Why the hell did he feel so nervous? “And close the door and .. Eh, help yourself to the fridge.”

He made a beeline for a door. Likely the bathroom given his mention of peroxide earlier.

Misaki waved when she saw the man at the counter. She smiled brightly at him and followed after Reizo and Kiriko up the set of stairs. She wondered what it was like to live by yourself? She'd always lived with a lot of people, so privacy was something that she tried to keep, even though it was nearly impossible in her home.

Still she was ready for a messy home and was shocked to see it immaculate. She couldn't help but be very impressed and beamed at Reizo as she looked around, "Shirai-san this place is so beautiful! Did you do all this yourself! I'm really impressed!"

"Um...okay, I'll see what you have in there and um...where are the pots. I'll make a snack for all of us!" Misaki smiled sweetly at the deliquent.

"Wow," she muttered to Misaki as soon as she was sure Reizo was out of earshot. "I wasn't expecting this. Were you, Aoi-chan?" The use of her peer's first name, she hoped, would answer the earlier question about whether or not it was fine to call her 'Kiriko.'

She stepped into the house almost gingerly, after removing her shoes of course. Did he really clean? Surely it must be the hired help, it was almost neater than her room. Then again, the naughty magazines left lying helter-skelter suggested otherwise. Not wanting to follow that train of thought, she veered towards the kitchen to peek at the fridge.

"A snack would be nice. As for the rumours... Well, don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure nobody saw us but the shopkeeper, anyway."

He was back out in a few seconds, glancing around a bit more nervously than he cared to and wiping his palms on his pants legs. Had he not wiped them on a towel after washing them, or were his palms sweaty? The moment in the bathroom had been just as much for calming himself down as it was cleaning the dried blood off his chin and lips. As such, he did feel a little calmer.. It was just those two in his house, right? Nothing to worry about. He had nothing to hide. The most that could happen here is that rumors of his virility spread or Misaki and Kiriko noticed all the dangerous things and rumors of just how badass he was would get out.. Yeah, no way to lose.

He watched the two from the other side of the counter dividing the small kitchen and living room, frowning and appearing somewhat pensive.

“Oi, you’re gonna dirty up my kitchen? Just get some cookies or something!” He pointed at the cookie jar afterwards. It was a ‘comical’ mockup of a yakuza, complete with pompadour, sunglasses, and toothpick between his teeth.

She looked where he was pointing and laid eyes on the cookie jar.

... Seriously?

"Going away present from your mom or something? Or are novelty items just your thing?"

She helped herself to a cookie and, while chewing it, turned to Misaki.

"So, what're you going to make?" she asked, deliberately oblivious to Reizo's wishes. "Are you really going to teach him noodles?"
