Oh yes. By the time I was a lad the only people in service were the ones who volunteered. Well, we were paid, but it was optional. And that's very admirable! I shall make note to salute you next time we meet, Major! I had to leave from injury, though. Tricky stuff, warring.

That's very interesting. I'm amazed they managed to get enough manpower that way, but I suppose it was still considered something of a honor? That's really not necessary, but I appreciate the thought. I'm sorry to hear that. I somehow managed to come home with all of my limbs, not everyone was so fortunate. It is rather tricky, yes.

Oh, yes, it's an honor and it's a challenge, and the rest of us went to satisfy our need for a thrill. I jumped out of planes. And flew them. It was a pleasure, regardless of the risks.

I found it to be a wonderful opportunity.

You jumped out of planes? I recall they were pretty keen to keen our boys firmly in them.

Yes, I jumped out of planes to deliver things to troops or to place denotation devices or to access war zones. Good fun.

Well, it certainly sounds exciting.

I rather wish so, too.
