Good morning.

Our next town hall meeting will be on Saturday, March 26th, 3pm at [location].

Attendance is not mandatory in any way, but everyone is very welcome. We will not be doing any lengthy introductions this time, but if anyone has not attended before and would like to introduce themselves to the community, you are encouraged to do so.

If anyone would like a copy of last month's minutes, you can let myself or ~~Miss~~ ~~Citizen Becket~~ Liberty know and we can arrange that.

I have noted already that we will be hearing from Applejack regarding agricultural needs, and Dr Cuddy will be speaking on behalf of the medical staff. If anyone else has any points for discussion they would like raised, you can let myself or Katherine know in advance and it will be added to the order of business to ensure we cover it. There will be time set aside for open discussion, so don't worry if you don't get your point 'in' on time.

Maryanne, are you able to provide snacks again?

Maria, are you able to set up the holographic interpreter again?

When she said she needed to be part of the agenda followed by 'this needs more care'. She could have defused the whole thing, just by saying 'I'm not going to talk about your kid'.

I have! I did go for a walk, a walk turned in to pacing, then turned into punching a metal wall. I can't tell you how much force of will it's taking me not to hunt her down and be done with it.

Maryanne, please, do not put yourself or your family in that position. In future, you read something as a threat that I blithely ignore, ask to speak with me, we will talk about it calmly (ish, it is us after all) and I will resolve it. Please don’t leave me to translate, just come and speak directly and frankly.

You wanted me to take over for a reason. Let me do it. Let me mediate. If I completely fuck up, tell me. I can take it, honestly.

Go, be with your children, no one will be threatening them or outing them at my meetings. I will fix this.

It's hard, letting someone else resolve it. I've always had to fight for myself, from the time I was tiny, before I knew what I was. I fought for me, and my twin. But I'm willing to try.. And I hope I would be better behaved in person than I have been in text.

I trust you Alex. I do. You're a pretty decent fellow, for someone normal.

I can't go home. They'll know somethings up, they always do. I'm so agitated I'm shaking

It was meant to be terrifying. I had hoped that would be all the deterrent I would need. The go to "I'm going to kick your ass" didn't seem like it would work.

That's only weird to rich people, because every one of those things screams 'I'm a man of the people' to me. That's a big reason why I jumped at the chance to hand the reigns over to you.

This is not a proposition, I am not propositioning you, I'm simply stating, because you asked.... I could really go for some angry sex right about now, that would absolutely get rid of all this angry energy and probably make me a lot less bitchy.

Instead it's just escalated things. You need a better go to. The thing about going straight to terrifying is that you end up getting painted as a monster.

This has being an ongoing lesson for me, too. Not that I can kill someone with my bare teeth or anything, but I was very angry and reactive when I was younger. I can be quick to temper, and I'd react with fists or threats or pistols. Washington helped me a lot. I fucking hated his guts for it some days, screamed and railed against him instead. It doesn't get to that now, I just need a warning word or a stern look and I try... to take a beat. Doesn't always work, but it buys enough time that I'm not the psycho lunging at a guy across the room because he looked at me the wrong way.

This is all to say, around these rich titled people, it just became "oh, of course he attacked you, that's immigrants for you", "of course he's crazy, his mother's a whore", or in your case, "of course she's terrifying, she's a mutant."

It's not fair, it's not right, but we have to rise above and be better for ourselves and for people like us. We cannot give the assholes of the world the opportunity to paint us, and therefore everyone like us, in a negative light. Don't give them the satisfaction. I still get so damn mad at myself if I lose it, because you can just see the little smirks and knowing nods, like they won, yay, I took the bait and snapped.

I hope this comparison makes sense. I want better for you.

My children are my hot button, they always will be. I mean, shit, Bucky just had his 105th birthday and I still wouldn't mind an opened door to give the people that hurt him all that they deserved. They can talk as bad about me as they want, anything they said wouldn't be something I hadn't heard before. But my kids were born here. They don't know racism, they don't know hate for being different, they don't have to be afraid.

Your comparison did make sense though. I'm going to assume that's the collective 'you' and not me in particular.

Keep saying it, ~~because I already have an unhealthy amount of fantasies staring Alexander Hamilton.~~ because it'll chase me in another direction.

She was the sort of person that thought it was okay to talk about my child, and ask to be put on the agenda for it. Do you really think, if she gets up on that stage, that she's going to do as you said?

She wants a rule about threatening and intimidation? I want one that says no one can get on the stage and speak about about anyone under the age of 18 without written consent from their parent or guardian. The only exception would be if the child, themselves, wishes to get up and speak about themselves.

Then be mad at me for agreeing without clarification first. Lesson well and truly learned, but you know I also can’t stop anyone from getting up and saying anything they wish. Someone could tell me they want to talk about one thing and then go rogue once they are up.

It wasn’t Hannah who asked for that rule. It was yet another resident who was frightened by your words, and asked me to mention it so she could attend without fear.

18 is too high. Why 18? If Mr Black ever reverts to 14 again, no one will ever be able to mention him at all, since he is here without parents. I’m sorry, but I am not about to start putting lots of restrictions on what people can and can’t discuss, where does it end? I’ve already spoken to her. If she choses to ignore me, why wouldn’t she ignore a written rule?

Perhaps you can speak with Neville. He could muffle her words if it goes wrong.

I can't punish you for not being as jaded as I am. But you're right, anyone could go rogue... I shouldn't use that as a weapon if she gets up and talks about my kid anyway.

Well, she asked if there was a rule, and "if not there should be". I won't ask you who I scared because they obviously don't want me to know. But shit.

There has to be something that can be done, because it's not right for minors to be discussed like they're simply objects in the room. And sometimes rules are respected more than people.

That's an idea. Neville or one of the other magic folk.

Oh, so she did. I admit, I had quite forgotten and overlooked that, things had gotten so out of hand. No, it was someone else that prompted the rule post.

It is a difficult business. I wouldn't consider anyone over 10 to be a minor, I was employed and signing legal documents for merchants at the same age, I was managing the company by 14, and could hardly expect not to be spoken about or criticised publicly at that point. I also wouldn't have felt like an object, I was perfectly capable of responding in kind. This is why I say that 18 is too high. Katarin was only 16, was she not, before she went home?

Great, I'm already talking to Neville about some other magical assistance, so I will see if it's possible.
