Alright y'all, I know the wedding is still hopping over there but it's PRIDE month too and I'mma be loud about it for a few minutes, because that's half of my personality, and because in some alternate universe I was not, and that is just sad. Normally there is a party for this, but I think most of us are partied out.

Things here are pretty great, all said and done, but I know not everyone is from here and sometimes the shit you need to hear isn't said. So, as the resident disaster gay, I'm just gonna put it plain and simple: it doesn't matter if you're not straight. Literally doesn't matter. If anyone makes it a thing I would call them an asshole but those are more fun and it would be an insult to asses everywhere. You have every right to be who you are and if anyone wants to fight me on that I will sic an angry Eddie on you. He is very loud and talks VERY fast and it is terrifying.

in this case, it's mostly referring sexuality, the people you're physically and emotionally attracted to, but also gender, whether you feel like the gender you were given at birth fits or not. if you are a male who was assigned male at birth, who wants to be with women who were designated as women, or vice versa, you're straight. if you're anything else, you're not straight.

for most of humanity, people who weren't straight had to hide it. they were persecuted or killed if they were found out. in June 1969 on my version of Earth, there were riots fought by not-straight people to try and win their right to exist as they were. it was the start of the moment that, eventually, made it so people who weren't straight couldn't be discriminated against. It still happened, but it was getting better and now people could be punished for it.

so June turned in to a time where people celebrated winning their rights and being able to be proud of things they would have had to hide before.

I would say I'm the same, though the smart parts are very far apart. In this case, you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge, the death penalty for such sexual relationships between men was repealed a little more than ten years ago in the London I came from. It was still something one could be sentenced to a life of hard labour for and not something many wished to discuss.
