So I got a song stuck in my head, and instead of trying to get rid of it, I just went with it.

I might have gone a little overboard.

Eight million huh? He does have a lot, but there's also Clint and AJ. I guess I'm being selfish...

That would be very cool. As long as they were all saltwater. Chlorine and I don't get along as well now.

I might be exaggerating. And Maryanne. But you aren't. He's just distracted, that's all.

What about fresh water?

I don't know. I assumed it was the chlorine in the one treated pool I was in since this happened, but it could have been the fresh water. I don't know how I'd find out.

I could ask Cris if there are any mers that lived in fresh water where he came from I guess.

Which one were you in? Did it hurt?

There are some fish that switch from fresh to salt and back again. Maybe you can do the same thing?

The single freshwater pool we have over in the thermal baths. It was an experiment I don't intend to repeat.

Yeah, it burned my gills and made my skin tingle.

Dunno! I suppose I could try the pond in the park, that isn't treated with anything.

Yeah I don't blame you. Maybe it's best if it's not treated?

Then you'd know if it was the treatment of the water or just the water itself. Want me to come with? In case you need someone to scoop you out quick.

That would work!

Who knew it would take getting turned into a mermaid to get your arms around me? ;) (Joking! Don't shoot me Mary!)

As long as your merfriend doesn't come try to beat on me...

He's scared of humans and I don't think he can change to human, or at least he's never tried.

Just show him that picture, and I guarantee he wont be afraid of me.

Besides, I'm a teddy bear. The muscles are purely for decoration.

I made sure to tell him before I left him the first time we met. I didn't want him finding out later and thinking I was luring him into some kind of trap.

It was touch and go for a few minutes but he got over the freakout.

Can you tell me why he's scared of us? Or is that just between you two?

I can tell you. Humans hunted mer for sport, would catch them in their nets and kill them. They basically became the boogieman for merfolk.

Yup! It gave me nightmares that night after he told me! You can imagine why he'd be a little scared.

If anyone even thought about doing that to you, here or anywhere I could reach them, they'd be dead meat. I'd beat 'em to a pulp, and maybe beyond.

I know it would never happen here Stevie, but I really appreciate you saying that. I never said it was a rational nightmare. :)

Nightmare's aren't usually rational. I had a dream that I was naked, and it scared me. How rational is that?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]chromed

Definitely not rational. Cris's culture wears clothes, I didn't expect that.

Really? Do they wear pants too? Though I should be asking why, because they could legitimately run around naked.

They don't have legs so how could they wear pants? That's what I thought too. The mers on the other side of the door mostly didn't.
