So I got a song stuck in my head, and instead of trying to get rid of it, I just went with it.

I might have gone a little overboard.

That's very true!

Does he know you used to be, um... sans flippy tail?

I made sure to tell him before I left him the first time we met. I didn't want him finding out later and thinking I was luring him into some kind of trap.

It was touch and go for a few minutes but he got over the freakout.

Can you tell me why he's scared of us? Or is that just between you two?

I can tell you. Humans hunted mer for sport, would catch them in their nets and kill them. They basically became the boogieman for merfolk.

Ugh. That's just fucked up.

Yup! It gave me nightmares that night after he told me! You can imagine why he'd be a little scared.

If anyone even thought about doing that to you, here or anywhere I could reach them, they'd be dead meat. I'd beat 'em to a pulp, and maybe beyond.

I know it would never happen here Stevie, but I really appreciate you saying that. I never said it was a rational nightmare. :)

Nightmare's aren't usually rational. I had a dream that I was naked, and it scared me. How rational is that?

Definitely not rational. Cris's culture wears clothes, I didn't expect that.

Really? Do they wear pants too? Though I should be asking why, because they could legitimately run around naked.

They don't have legs so how could they wear pants? That's what I thought too. The mers on the other side of the door mostly didn't.

I don't know, maybe there's fishfin pants or something. Did you run around naked Jules?

You're the married man now, Stevie, off the market. Not that you were ever really on it.

Let's just say I couldn't exactly run...

Nothing about being married means I can't have a dirty mind.

Running has been against your religion for a while now hasn't it?

Stevie I haven't been a runner since I was fourteen.

Yeah, the threat of having a pair of black eyes would keep me from running too. I had yours in mind when I did my boobs though. But the balloons kept popping.

I thought I had balloons stuck under my skin the way they grew.

But yeah, I can't run even if I wanted to.

I remember. I'm surprised you can actually swim under the water in your current condition.

Duct tape could help? If you really wanted to that is.

Hardy har har. Trust me, these things are heavy out of the water.

More like they create drag and slow me down a bit, but I'm so much faster now than before I had a tail.

Well I'd need legs first. Maybe if I used three or four sport bras one on top the other...

I believe you! You could suffocate someone with those.

In the water, anyway.

Probably more like five or six...

My deadliest weapons.

Yes. Out of the water, well 'the phrase 'fish out of water' does fit.

I stopped trying after a while and switched to swimming for my cardio, prophetic I guess.
