A machine that using sound to do that? Interesting. I didn't know you could do that.

Like make metal float in air?

Does it still have fins? Is this going to be a picture of a finned sea creature looking thing?

Maybe with creative use of magnets?

No more dragon-fish. According to the books, he's got all his fingers and toes and junk now. Or she does. Just really tiny, still.

Is that how airplanes fly?

Huh. And you can get a picture of that?

Uh...no. That's...something else scientific which I am not qualified to explain. And there were airplanes in the 70s, so don't look so shocked.

But yes, I can get a picture of that. It might look kind of like an x-ray. Not that you've ever seen one of those either.

Well! Yes, they were around then. But brooms fly because of a series of complicated charms. Muggles can't do magic, so that makes one wonder how they figured out flight.

What's an x-ray?

Okay, well, science and math are not my best subjects, but Google is a many splendor'd thing, and basically, they go super fast so that the Thrust produced by the engine(s) is greater than the force of Drag, which moves the airplane forward and when the forward motion is enough to produce a force of Lift that is greater than the Weight of the airplane, the airplane moves upward. The first successful airplane flight is generally credited to a pair of American brothers named Orville and Wilbur Wright, in like 1903.

An x-ray is an image taken with a certain wavelength of electromagnetic radiation discovered by some guy with a funny name. He called them "x" rays because he didn't know what they were, but basically, they let you see peoples bones inside their soft tissue. It's very creepy and cool.

Wow. Alright.

What's Google? And how is it a many splendor's thing?

Yeah, it's a lot to process, I know.

It's a search engine. On the internet. Another modern invention.

A giant database, or network of databases, of information that you can access on a computer, and even some hi-tech phones.

It's probably easier if I just show you.
