I hope this isn't a source of great inconvenience for anyone, but I'm afraid I have a bit of a favor to ask.

Please refrain from mentioning me, my whereabouts, my presence, my identity, or even my name to (or in front of) anyone from who has recently appeared in town and appears to be from the 1940s. While I obviously couldn't prohibit any of you from conversing with them entirely, though I might like to, the possibility of a universe-ending paradox developing should any of these time travelers prematurely learn of my existence is of great concern to me. In the event that they retain any knowledge acquired here when they return to their own time, obviously, a very serious situation could develop.

This is particularly pertinent should anyone encounter a scientist named Howard. He's very opportunistic, exactly the sort who might accidentally steal industry secrets.

All the best,
Tony Stark

Thank you, Rachel. That is... very reassuring.

You're welcome, Mr. Stark.

I intentionally tried to change the past, so I imagine it's harder to do it accidentally. It seems like some of the other universes spring up after something changes in history, without the original universe changing.

For instance, there's a Nazi Excalibur.

Did you? What sort of future event did you attempt to subvert? You are probably correct. Though perhaps it is the sort of thing that one can only do accidentally, but becomes vastly more difficult when one attempts to duplicate it.

Could you repeat that?

We tried to stop an assassination that had helped fan anti-mutant hysteria to the point that the United States government outlawed being a mutant, had even non-mutant superheroes and villains killed, and survivors enslaved or imprisoned. Nothing changed whatsoever. It looks like we went back to the wrong past, because when I went there trying to find out why it didn't work, I found out lots more was different after all.

There's a Nazi Excalibur. It's in another universe. The Axis won and conquered the UK, so... Nazi Excalibur. Herr Xavier and everything.
