Wow. You seem really calm.

It's kind of impressive.

Thanks. I guess I don't see the point in letting myself get worked up. It won't end well, if I do. It rarely does.

That's a good way to look at the situation. Freaking out really doesn't make a difference. Most people just don't manage to keep calm in the face of all this.

Here. That write-up explains things pretty well.

What can I say? I have a secret to staying calm. It seems to work for me, more or less, to date.

Thanks. Again. I'm starting to feel like this is going to become something of a habit of mine, my thanking you.

Well your secret definitely seems to work for you, whatever it is.

It's no trouble, really. We've all been through it. It's only right to help each other out.

I'm Kitty, by the way. Kitty Pryde.

That it definitely does.

I'm Bruce. Bruce Banner. I would throw in the 'doctor' title but that always seemed a bit pretentious. Which is how I'm sounding now, after just mentioning it. Wow. Go me.

Anyway. It's nice to meet you, Kitty Pryde.

Banner? Bruce Banner? As in Dr. Bruce Banner? Oh my god

Your work in the field of nuclear physics is astonishing. I'm such a huge fan.

And I'm completely geeking out on you. Wow. Sorry.

I think I've read everything you've published.

At the risk of repeating myself: Really? I'm not sure what to say. That means a lot. Especially considering I mean, I've never really met that many who could keep up with all of it. And wait. That sounds That is... I'm not saying you aren't smart. It just... isn't common, is all.

So do you just not know or I'll be honest. I'm not sure how to have a conversation with someone that doesn't involve mentioning the other guy so I'm just going to So. Been here long, then?

Well, my focus has always been computers, but I studied Physics, so it really wasn't that hard to understand it. Some of it was definitely beyond me, but that didn't make it any less interesting.

Not too long. A little over two months.

Computers, huh? I hope you don't mind my saying, but computers and physics is a fairly decent-sized leap. I'm definitely impressed.

Just over two months. Got it. And I take it that, in that time, you've found the information you linked to me to be accurate?

Well, I studied Physics at the University of Chicago, but I've sort of been taking college courses since I was thirteen, so I've studied a few things. Not that I'm trying to say I'm smart or anything. Not that I'm not smart. I just don't want to seem like I'm trying to...talk myself up. I'm babbling. Sorry.

It's definitely been accurate, from what I've seen and experienced. Power-stripping? Not fun. Surprisingly not fun.

I'm not sure what counts as smart where you're from, Ms. Pryde, but I would say that taking college courses since you were thirteen should.

I'm guessing that either you're used to waking up in weird places or you're really good at not letting things phase you.

A little bit of both, if you must. One is due more to necessity while the other I can chalk up to experience, but definitely a bit of both.

All and all, a preferable attitude to demanding to be sent home and then getting pissy when we explain for the hundredth time that it's just not possible.

Welcome to the madness. I see Ms. Pryde has already showed you the rundown spiel. I can assure you, it's pretty accurate even if somewhat out of date.

I guess I don't really see the point in making demands that clearly can't be met. A little common sense can go a long way toward not losing your temper, I've found.

Thank you. And yes, she's been very helpful so far. Though she didn't mention the information being out of date. What's changed?

The people that are around, mostly. There's only one Sherlock Holmes now. But we've got an Irene Adler and a Mycroft to boot. In fact, Holmes the elder is the one in charge of the government in general. There's no more Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they were vanquished properly. We lost the Norse Gods we had about a handful of months ago even if the Christian one sticks around in some form or another no matter what, and we've been well compensated with angels. Also, Van Gogh went back home, and our numbers from Camelot have thinned considerably.

And the library no longer has our books in it since Parker stole all of them awhile ago and handed them out to the people who wanted them and dumped the rest.
