Chaos Unraveled OOC Community

With assorted people popping on and off of hiatus, the Trial 3 logs remain far from complete, but after some deliberation, we've decided it's time to declare results. Both teams showed their own variation of teamwork in the logs thus far. Since no logs were finished, we'll give both teams the benefit of the doubt and assume everyone succeeded in completing the course. With that in mind, we have decided:

Trial 3 ended in a draw.

Disappointing for team members, perhaps, but really, they did both do a good job.

For those who involved in the trial, you are perfectly welcome to keep posting to the logs, and I'll link them here for whoever might be interested in taking a look.

We'll announce the next trial as soon as we have it planned. In the future, we plan to have smaller but more frequent trials. We hope that they will go more smoothly that way.

Alrighty, it is finally time for Trial #3 to get underway!

The trial will last two in-game days, or from the 17th to the 24th of May in real world time. As always, logs do not need to follow the schedule too stringently (write when you can and finish whenever you finish) but that's the official schedule. So to be clear:

17th - First day of trial begins
21st - Second day of trial begins
25th - Character return to their regularly scheduled lives

This trial consists of an obstacle course that characters will need to find their way through in teams. There will be two teams; one for Asgard and one for Niflheim, and they will go through identical but separate courses. That is, the course they experience will be exactly the same no matter which team they are on, but the teams will not cross paths. The winner will be determined by a combination of how quickly they progress through the obstacles and how well they work together as a team.

If your character is listed and has already been in a trial, or if you won't be able to play during this timeframe, please post so I can rearrange things!

For the duration of the trial, the teams will be stuck in their course. They will be provided a place to rest once they get through the obstacles for the day (details under the cut), but they will not be able to leave the area set up for them. They will have normal access to their journals, so they can communicate with the other team and/or people not involved in the trial as usual whenever they have time to do so. That way, characters not in the trial can still be involved in a sense.

That should cover it. I'll post up a log for each team at the beginning of each day for the main trial. Feel free to split into your own logs for whatever happens once they get to their apartment.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to comment here with them. This post can also be used for any plotting you wish to do.

Don't be too freaked out by the title, guys. This isn't for checking whether people have done a certain amount of stuff in the past month or anything. It just occurred to me that I haven't heard from some people in ages and I want to know who's still actually here. So without further ado:

IF YOU ARE AROUND AND WANT TO KEEP PLAYING HERE, PLEASE COMMENT For the sake of convenience, please put the name(s) of your character(s) in the comment. You'll have ten days (that is, until the 13th) to post a comment saying you're alive. If you don't post within that time, we will assume you're dropping.

This really isn't meant to be mean or anything, we just need to have some idea of who's here and who's not. If you miss the deadline because your life is just hectic, all you really have to do is tell us that you still want to play and I'll put your info back on the lists. Like I said, I just really want an inventory of what characters are actually still playing. And of course if you're on hiatus, you'll be exempt from the check.

With that out of the way... I'd had a couple of votes to get Trial 3 going, but I don't want to get that started until I have a better idea of who's here. So I'll post up info about how the Trial is going to work after the activity check closes. In the meantime, here's a malfunction to keep people occupied:

Starting April 7: Picture Day - Characters take out pen and paper or start clipping up magazines because today they can’t speak nor write, they can only communicate through pictures. For the sake of the argument, let's assume that charades work, too.

Fey and I are working on setting up lists for Family Fun malfunction day. For those who need a refresher, here's the description:

September 17th: Family Fun Day
Each character is put into a 'family' role, and interacts with the other members of that group as if they really were a family. Feuds may or may not crop up!

If you have any specific requests for a role you want your character to have, please post it here. We can't promise specific relationships to other characters, but we should be able to put them in the role you'd like.

If you don't have a request, we'll just put them wherever we think they fit and you'll get to be surprised!

Just a very quick note on the whole application process: once accepted, a character can begin playing immediately, rather than having to wait a few weeks or more to actually be introduced into the game.

As was mentioned, we have tweaked the application just a little bit. And since settling in and doing that took so little time, and we've lost so many characters these last few days....

Please add readsyournotes to your friends lists. This is L, who will be joining Asgard on the 28th.

Metatron will post the night/middle of the day before the 28th talking to everyone in Asgard who dealt with L. He will tell them that L has no memories of what he did here previously and ask that they not bring up old events. He'll be understanding towards those who went through hard times with him, but that'll be the gist of it.

As an official note, the MD page has been updated!

Just remember that the MD days for October and further may change, because by that point I or the secretary will be making a post along the lines of, "So, guys, pros and cons of this method vs. the older method and any ideas YOU think we should consider timeline-wise?" All I ask is that people be good sports and try this method and see if it has any benefits. I can always remove it if it fails hardcore.

Two fights will have special effects come about when the two chosen step onto the arena. This will not be known to the characters until they've finally stepped into the arena!

1. Kain vs. Schroedinger - healing abilities will be nullified during the battle.
2. Tohru vs. Yako - their weapons will disappear, turn into, or their fists will be covered by Sock'Em Boppers. They'll have to hit each other about ten times or so - first one to get ten proper hits in wins.

It's that lovely time of year, everyone! This is strictly OOC knowledge for now, until Lucifer or Metatron say more on it. However, I'm thinking that the second trial will be from Friday, June 5th to June 10th. For some extra information on the trial, click here.

...was actually yesterday, but my browser wouldn't behave and let me post yesterday.

But still, just to pause for a moment of yay: One year ago yesterday, CU began. I started it with the high hopes that this could become a game where people wouldn't have to fret over each other and simply relax with a fun, relatively undemanding game while still providing lots of opportunities for people and their characters.

After a year, I have to say that I think that we're doing fairly well. There's bumps in the road every now and then, but that's to be expected. So I just wanted to thank all of you, each and every one of you, for participating in CU. Because it's all of us, together, that makes this game fun.

In other news, I have an organizational idea that will clear up the OOC board very much so that there's more room for simple plot discussions and the like.

A hiatus thread.
What's this?

Instead of saying "I'm going" and "i'm back" in new entries in the OOC board, how about we all comment to a hiatus thread and reply to our hiatus comment to announce when we've returned? Then a week or so after, those can be deleted and everyone has a good idea of who is where and why all in one spot!

Does this sound acceptable?

Go here to see the current list. It can still be changed, but I made sure everyone who volunteered had at least one character involved.

If people's schedules get messed up, don't worry - choose a date before April 10th where the event happens, decide overall what will occur and you guys can choose your pace in the thread, just have a general thing in mind and act as though it's been retrieved in a day or so or whenever. The only reason I push to have it actually happen is because Metatron needs to recover sometime in April, even if we have to push the date back for some reason.

Also, if you'd rather things on the list get changed, let me know, but I hope this will work for everyone. Also, EVERYONE can work on #6, it's just that no one will really find it or anything because it will show up all on its own. XD

Alright, thee's five more talismans to find and all Asgardians (even if you were shy and hadn't voted yet) can have a turn as long as the people who officially volunteered first get their chances.

More information about the talismans will be given soon, but baaasically...here's every poem and where the talismans can be found (though the characters are not receiving the location with them - and please wait until Sydonai gives the poems ICly herself to the others before reacting to these in-character.) Each talisman, with the exception of #2 and #6, should have two or more people on it.

Syd has told Dorian how to help Metatron~! When Dorian alerts the others to the poem that hints of where the first talisman is located, everyone who wants to can take part trying to figure out where the item is located. Characters should not instantly figure out where the talisman is. It's unrealistic. Give it some time and meander through it as your characters try to figure out where it is. Have fun with it! If your character is unlikely to figure it out, that's fine too!
