Malfunction Days
This page is about the current system of days and the Malfunction Days themselves.

If a month does not have 31 days, then the new day instantly starts the 1st of the next month regardless.

Malfunction Days

Another thing the cast will soon discover is the realm's instability. Its ability to change and grow on its own, as well as to suit God or Satan's purposes, has also led to the occasional "malfunctions" that befall the realm. These malfunctions are actually because of God and Satan both trying to change something about the realm at the same time. On a day of malfunction, something about the realm's usual state has changed temporarily, though everything will return to normal the next day (or week, should it last that long.) These go on regardless of when or where a tournament or contest is being held.

As a helpful note, when dates are mentioned, please consider them loosely! Story-wise the malfunction days will last for only a day (or however long the M.D. is stated to last) but the dates of the real world are only to be considered a rough timeline, not the one within the story. The real life dates will be used to state malfunction days only so that players will know when a M.D. officially begins. Any journal posts/threads started that day are to bear the effects of the M.D. You may also backdate threads or posts to react to an event you missed due to being busy or because you and another player wanted your characters to interact during that time. Just don't do it if it's a month or two later, okay? Heheh.

Announcements for the upcoming malfunction days of the month shall be included here and whenever it changes, an OOC announcement and/or (if desired) an email will be sent out to the players. Should you desire email notification of M.D. date changes, please comment to this post!

The first set of Malfunction Days are less crazy than some of the future ones will be, but it's to get the feel of the Malfunction Day events down.

July
July 25th: The Road Not Traveled Day
Every character is defined by the choices they have made in life. But what if your character had chosen the other choice? What if Alessa had decided to bring the god into the world willingly? What if Flauros had never joined Letumael?

On this day; the characters act how they would had they made a different choice at a pivotal moment in their lives.
Note: Players decide - should Lucifer and Metatron be affected? Comment/vote.

August
August 9th: Dinosaur Invasion Day
Dinosaurs invade!

August 21st: Journal Advertisement Day
For a period of time, characters will get a chance to view the advertisements relevant to their entries.

September
September 17th: Family Fun Day
Each character is put into a 'family' role, and interacts with the other members of that group as if they really were a family.
Feuds may or may not crop up!
Lists of who's in what family can be found here!

*Please note that by this time, the MD days may change for October and on depending on how people feel about the calendar/scheduling after two full months of trying it. Things may go back to the way they were, or be altered in some other way depending on how people feel after attempting this.

Truth day is when you can only speak the truth. Freudian Slip Day is when you can only blurt out exactly what you're thinking.

Starting with a clean slate of comments, huh? xD

Silent Hill Week - For three, four, or five days Asgard; Niflheim; Emptiness; and the surrounding areas are 'invaded by the otherworld'. A thick mist hangs in the air, the buildings (except for maybe the Asgard, and Niflheim mansions) are run down, walls are covered in rust stains.

And that's just the misty version. At unpredictable intervals a siren, or the sound of an electro shock will be heard just before the place is twisted into a nightmare. And not just any nightmare either. The place would twist around to reflect what's hidden deep inside of everyone's subconscious/unconscious minds. And everyone's otherworld would bleed and leak into each others.

(Example using my own characters. Alessa's afraid of fire, so her otherworld would contain areas of fire, and buildings might look as if though they've been burned. Flauros is afraid of being trapped so his otherworld would for example contain stocks, cages, and prisons. Alessa's otherworld would leak into Flauros's and vice versa. So Flauros would also be seeing fire, and vice versa. And that's just an example.)

Monsters would also be lurking around, common monsters from the games, or ones created from the character's psyches.

tl:dr - SH week, where things go to bizarro Hell.

Okay, a couple more ideas.

Seven Deadly Sins

Seven days, seven sins. For each day of one week; characters are subjected to the 7 sins. Example: On Monday (envy) everyone would be envious of each other. (Pride) everyone's extremely proud. (Sloth) everyone's lazy. etc etc.

Exaggerated accents day

Everyone wakes up speaking with very exaggerated accents. Sure to annoy the hell out of everyone! xD

Dream Theater Day

For the duration of the day characters are trapped in a dream world. They can move in and out of other people's dreams, but they cannot wake up. Players decide if their characters' dreams are to be only observed, or if characters can interact with the dream.

See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil Day

Characters wake up only to discover that they are either blind, deaf, or dumb.

Power Switch today We need switch days like we need global warming. :P On this day character's have their abilities switched around with each other. Those who don't have power may suddenly gain some for the day, while those with power may wind up without any.

The Road Not Traveled Day

	Ad Banner Day - You know those annoying ads that pop up in our characters' journals? For one day characters actually see those ads in their journals or, they hear them. Cat Macro Day - For one day characters can only communicate via cat macros. (Reply to this)

	Poetry day (or more) -- Everyone speaks in rhyme (except for Tailypo, who doesn't for once) Love potion day -- Characters fall in love with the first person they see. Effects wear off at the end of the day; memories don't. Gender swap day -- Characters are the opposite gender for a day. All pretty standard, but fun, and I'd love to have malfunction days again. Childhood day- Characters wake up to find that they are 7 years old (or like in the case of Myre, the equivalent of), with no memories of anything that has happened to them beyond that age. Will your character seek out friends to play with, search for their mommy and daddy, recreate a CU version of Lord of the Flies , or just make an unholy mess of the mansions they woke up in?

Yeah, also, re-raising a few of the older suggestions, because they're too awesome to ignore. Consider this a vote in their favor.

Urban Sprawl: Welcome to New York, New York! It seems the Big Apple has been transplanted to the world of CU— much to the displeasure and alarm of the locals. The New Yorkers, that is, not CU. So here, folks: have 8 million disgruntled city folk dropped on your doorstep. Good luck with that. Do you know the city, though? Then you might notice how it's not quite right. Are you from another world entirely? Strangely enough, you might find you recognize some things.... Maybe it's 'cause the city that never sleeps landed right on Emptiness....

Seven Deadly Sins: [Option 1) Seven days, seven sins. For each day of one week; characters are subjected to the 7 sins. Example: On Monday (envy) everyone would be envious of each other. (Pride) everyone's extremely proud. (Sloth) everyone's lazy. etc etc.
[Option 2*) Grab-bag of sin— Lasts three days, not a full week. The morning of the first day, your character is presented with seven scrolls: pride, covetousness, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth. Until one of these scrolls is chosen, the character may not leave the room. Whatever sin they pick is theirs to exemplify for the day. On the second day, there will again be seven scrolls. On the third, fate chooses for them.

Love At First Sight: Fall deeply in love with the first person you see. Stalking encouraged.

For instance, for a day like Island of Doctor Moreau:

Transformations would last 2 days, and not everyone is an animal at the same time. For instance: On Monday and Tuesday, Reno is human, but Rufus is a fluffy bunny. On Tuesday, Yako turns into a labrador, and stays that way until Wednesday night. On Wednesday morning, Rufus turns human again, Yako is still a lab, and Reno turns into a pigeon. Reno is a pigeon until Thursday night. By Friday, Rufus, Reno, and Yako are all human again, but Bert, who turned into a mouse Thursday morning, only turns back into a human Friday night.
