Channelling the Green Mother - OTA
Who: Abby Sciuto and - all together, now - anyone who would like to poke her gently with a stick...
Where: The Greenhouse.
When: After the change of the seasons.
Rating: I'll say PG-13, because...
Summary: Abby decides it's time to get her hands dirty...

"'Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?'
'With silver bells and cockle shells,
And pretty maids, all in a row.'"

~ Traditional English Nursery Rhyme

She's wearing black, which isn't unusual, but is very casual today: t-shirt, pants and boots. The t-shirt does have the skull-and-crossbones on it, but that's okay.

She doesn't think the plants will mind.

Abby walks the distance to the greenhouse, which is tucked neatly between the residence and the stables, and opens the door. The smell of earth and natural fertilizer and green, growing things wraps around her sense.

Ahh...

She opened the cupboards, checking for seeds and pots and soil and respecting the other plantings. Gathering what she needs - including the seeds she'd hoped for - she makes sure her pigtails are secure and starts to work.

Abby turns at the sound of a familiar voice. A big smile crosses her face.

"Wyatt!" She takes a few steps, her fingers slightly dirty from the soil she's just selected, and does what Abby usually does with people she hasn't seen in a while: she gives him a tight hug. The young man had been very kind to her when she was at the skating pond, and she hadn't seen him in ages.

"Where've you been?"

He returns the hug, he smiles as it reminds him of home. "I've been meditating."

When they have seperated, "How have you been?"

"Meditation? I do that, too, but... with you having magic and all, yours is probably way different from mine."

She turns back to the pots and soil and replies, "I've been okay. You know, trying to keep busy, though that isn't easy around Here. Not that I mind being bored, not after the place going 'boom' and all that, but having something constructive to do, well, that's a challenge."

Abby takes a breath. "Then the weather changed and I thought about Spring and growing things and got my ass in gear." She grins. "I'm going to grow tomatoes, just little ones."

"Sometimes I float but otherwise it's the same for me as anyone else. Clearing the mind to try to gain a greater understanding of the universe."

He smells the budding flora and fauna, "Keeping busy can be difficult in this place, but that seems to be the point in this place."

Abby nods and presses her lips together.

"Floating, yeeeee-ah. I... don't do the floating thing. Keeping busy keeps you sane, sort of? Is that what you mean?"

She turns back to her pots. "So, how goes your understanding of the universe? Any progress?"

Her question isn't flippant. She's taking him seriously. He hasn't given her any reason not to.

"That's exactly what I mean."

He gives her an honest answer as whitelighters take this sort of thing very , "A little, but then its gotten alot bigger as in this place there are many universes."

"It is?" She blinks. "It has? Oh, do you mean because there are so many different people Here, from different universes and stuff? Do you pick up on those universes, too?"

Abby opened the seed packet and started to count them out.

He nods, "Sort of. In part I am trying to connect with all the universes. You see the Doctor and I are working to gather the puzzle pieces. We are going to try and take as many people as possible to his world and from there we can try to take any who are from his world to there correct times and places while I try to open portals to everyone elses world and being connected to them would help."

Abby nods. She's glad she used to watch a lot of the Space Channel back home, or most of what Wyatt has just said would have been completely incomprehensible. The terms are familiar, though, and she's very smart, so she nods wisely and asks, "Doesn't that give you a doozy of a headache?"

"I'm used to it. When dealing with Magic not everything makes sense." He looks at the plants, "What are you doing here?"

Magic doesn't make sense to Abby most of the time, but that's okay. She just goes with the flow, nods and smiles, and wonders if she'll ever be able to duplicate any of it using science.

"I am growing baby tomatoes," she says, excited by the prospect. "Six pots, two plants in each. I'm not being greedy by taking six pots, am I? There seem to be lots around..."

"I don't think so." he smiles at her, "After all many of us aren't using any." he looks at the pots, "And it's good to see life growing."

Abby nods. "More people should get outside and grow things, you know? Be in touch with Mother Nature and all that jazz, especially in a place like this. I mean, how whacked out is being randomly abducted into a pocket universe? I so wanna go home, 'cause I miss everyone a whole lot, but this place is just freaky."

She pauses, reaches for her coffee, and has a deep gulp.

"Well the Doctor and I are working on that. We have a plan we just need puzzle pieces." he lokos around, "Even for me this place is strange." he agrees.

Abby nods.

"The Doctor? Sure, I don't know everybody, but hey, if you can make it work, that'd be awesome." She looks around when he does, wondering if she's supposed to be seeing something. Nobody else is in the greenhouse right now. She gives an inward sigh.

Sometimes Wyatt just freaks her out a little.

"You growing anything here?" she asks, setting her cup down and retuning to the task of planting.
