If I was ever given the opportunity to time travel, I'd go back and speak to the sadist who invented glitter. Which was a guy named Henry Ruschmann, for the record. At least, he was responsible for the plastic crap you find in your hair a week later. Thanks, Henry.

I can already hear the arguments that time travel could be used for more fulfilling and altruistic purposes. But I have a rebuttal for all your arguments, before you go there.

start going through all your possible rebuttals and i’ll see if you have one to go with my argument.

Why would I do that?

considering you so confidently proclaimed you had prepared rejoinders, i thought i would call you on your bluff.

Calling me on my bluff would involve having an argument I didn't have one for.

Whenever you're ready.

if you insist.

the time travelling itself is inconsequential. altruistic, selfish, it doesn't matter the nature of your intervention. i think it's quite a lofty idea to think you can have that much of a profound effect on the course of a timeline. i'd wager that any change you can made would simply be compensated for.

in your case, killing henry (or 'talking to him') would just result in someone else inventing glitter.

That escalated quickly, Stabby.

I thought about that. But I think that all comes down to motivation. And how good I am at proving it's a terrible idea. Besides which, the possibility that something else might go wrong shouldn't be a deterrent from trying.

'stabby'?

plenty of inventions have been designed and actions taken in history in spite of them being proven to be a 'terrible idea'. you may deter henry, but not someone else. so your time travel was just a wasted effort and you will still be forced to endure glitter.

Has a better ring to it than 'hitty'.

Doesn't change my point that you should still try. It's the whole butterfly effect dude. One small change can have a cataclysmic impact. It's always worth trying.

both could use some work.

do you frequently attempt to do things with only a vague sense of hope as proof it's worth attempting?

Work in progress.

There's usually a pretty good plan to go along with that. But experience tells me the hope doesn't hurt.

very much so.

any plan can fail. what makes yours better than another's? hope is cruel, in my opinion, and does more harm than good.

Because they work? Basically. Well aren’t you all sunshine and rainbows.

every time, without fail, they work? i highly doubt it. i prefer glow sticks and glitter, but that works too.
