条例 - Rules

Rules are very simple - 1. Don't be a Jerk, 2. No God-modding, 3. Minimum one response every 48 hours - No long absences without warning. Players will receive a warning if they break the rules. There is a three strike rule - at the end of which you will be asked to leave the game, and if necessary another player will take on your character to finish any threads they have left hanging. Now that nasty business is over...

- All game related content (OOC, IC and MOD) is posted to this journal (buriedfae_rpg). Players are free to use their journals as they wish.
- All entries are to be tagged. Example tags are found on the journal main page.
- Profile posts are to act as screened drop boxes, for contacting players.
- Posts are to be third person, past tense.
- Posts are labeled "Who: When: Where: Rating: Summary: ", and tagged with the Drifter(s) involved and the status (Open, Closed, Dropped).
- Players are free to create posts describing specific locations, NPCs or other asthetic elements for future reference.
- There will be a Mod post once a week, summarizing the 'Story so far', weather conditions, etc. Players can contribute to this post.

Q: How much does my Drifter know about their abilities?
A: As much or as little as you like. They may have no idea, or they may have learned to control them.

Q: What nationality can my Drifter be?
A: In order to have a nice mix, there will be a limit of 3 Japanese Drifters (2 will be the children of the flight stewardesses). The rest are up to you.

Q: Is there a gender limit?
A: Ideally, the Drifters will be 4 women, 4 men, but this is subject to applications.

On the 16th of October, 1985, JAL flight 771 from London to Tokyo experienced some minor turbulence. During the incident, flight personnel were forced to restrain elderly passenger Ugaki Murai, after several female passengers complained Murai was splashing them with an unknown substance. Murai was detained on arrival in Tokyo, where he told officials he was 'blessing' the women to ensure their safe passage. After several hours, Murai was released without charge.

Within the following year, eight women from flight 771, including two JAL flight attendants, fell pregnant. Each woman died within 8 hours of giving birth, from a postpartum hemorrhage. Due to the varied geographical locations of the women and the time lapsed between births, a connection between the pregnancies, deaths and flight 771 was not made.

In 2015, the eight children (now 30) shared the same dream - that of a red light engulfing the city of Tokyo, Japan. Unable to explain their actions with family or friends, the eight strangers, each from radically differing backgrounds and situations, are leaving their home country and making their way to Tokyo.

They are The Drifters. They are The Light.
They are The End. They are The Beginning.

Tokyo Drifters is an urban fantasy, in which eight unlikely strangers are forced into a world they didn't know existed. Will they band together to discover their origins? Or will they turn on each other?

Each Drifter has been imbued with the abilities of a Japanese demon, spirit or deity. The greater their abilities, the greater their weaknesses. Will they choose to use their abilities to help others, or cause suffering? It is up to you.

Tokyo Drifters is a GPSL that focuses on character and plot development. We are looking for dedicated players with a strong imagination, who love working with complex characters, partially guided mystery story-lines and building a world from scratch.

Ameonna (雨女) - The Rain Woman

Name: Amaya Miyamoto
Nationality: Japanese

Personal History: Amaya's mother was a flight attendants on JAL flight 771, and as with the other Drifters Amaya's mother died in childbirth. Her mother never gave a clue who her father might be. Amaya was raised by her mothers parents, in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto. Her grandfather was a groundskeeper at Nijō Castle, a place that Amaya saw as incredibly magical. Her grandfather would bring Amaya with him when he worked, he said she was good luck - she always seemed to bring the rain. Her grandmother was a timid but kind hearted woman, and she raised Amaya Shinto.

Amaya was a kind child, a good student, and had quite a curious nature. Her grandfather passed away when she was 16, from a stroke, which was quite a blow to both Amaya and her grandmother. Amaya left school at 17 and took two jobs; one at a convenience store and one cleaning offices, to support her grandmother. When her grandmother passed away two years later, Amaya sold the house and moved to Kyoto.

By the time she was 23, Amaya was living in a small flat with two other girls, working full time at a large chain bookstore. One night she went out with one of the girls drinking, and someone drugged her drink. She was found the next day in an alley, having been sexually assaulted and beaten. The police had no leads, especially as she was found in a large pool of water, which had washed away most of the evidence. Feeling violated and completely alone, Amaya moved in to her own small bedsit above a record store and withdrew from the world.

As her paranoia increased, she quit her job and took a new one at the record store below her flat, limiting her need to venture out into the world. The store owner (and her landlord), a friendly man named Masumi, introduced her to punk and rock music, and slowly she opened up to trust him. Amaya found solace in the loud, angry music which gave a voice to her own fears. Her wardrobe slowly changed to all black, and she became the store expert on anything hardcore. Eventually, under Masumi's influence, she sought help for her PTSD. In time, she grew a small but trusted friends circle, became an assistant manager at the store, and even casually dated a few men, though nothing lasted.

Two weeks before her 30th birthday, Amaya woke from a strange dream (in which a blinding red light was burning through Tokyo) to her flat completely flooded. She rang Masumi, assuming that a pipe in her ceiling had burst. Masumi was confused - there was no water pipe in the ceiling of her flat. Troubled by the strange incident, Amaya and Masumi went to get a cup of coffee at the all night diner on the corner, but Amaya was disoriented and had a strong headache. When she finally returned to her flat, she hastily packed an overnight bag, left a note for Masumi on the shop counter that read 'Gone to Tokyo, sorry', and caught the 6am Shinkansen - though she didn't understand why.

Alignment: Neutural

Abilities: The Ameonna can produce rain. They can make it rain outside, or inside, and control the area over which the rain will fall. If they drink rain they have summoned, they get a brief increase in strength and speed (for approximately 5 minutes).

Also, when it is not raining, they are able to pull water from the surrounding air and send it to a specific location, such as a bucket or bathtub, however they are limited to how much water is in the atmosphere at the time.

Weakness: Sometimes, The Ameonna will inadvertently create rain, in moments of heightened stress or emotion, including while asleep. They are often dehydrated, which can cause headaches, nausea, confusion and fainting.

Ikiryō (生霊) - Living Ghost

Personal History: Unknown

Alignment: Unknown

Abilities: The Ikiryō are able to astral project within a 1-2 mile radius. They project an identical appearance to themselves at the time. They are unable to physically interact with the environment, however their presence can be accompanied by a strong wind if they choose.

The Ikiryō are also able to take brief possession of an individual (no longer than 5 minutes), and experience what they are sensing (sight, hearing, etc.) without the individuals knowledge.

Weakness: In order for The Ikiryō to use their abilities, they must be unconscious, and cannot be woken until they end their projection or possession. While using their abilities, they are unaware of what is occurring to their own body. They are also limited to projecting themselves to a location they have already visited, or possessing an individual they have had physical contact with in the past.

Enera (煙々羅) - Smoke Demon

Abilities: The Enera has the ability to pass through solid objects. They can walk through walls, closed doors and gates. They are also able to remain within solid objects for a brief period, like a wall or pillar (up to five minutes).

The Enera are also able to reach in to an individual and restrict their organs, such as their heart, or remove tissue such as a tumor or blockage.

Weakness: The Enera are limited to using their abilities at night. Their abilities are affected by time - the closer the time to midnight, the more control they have over their powers. Prolonged use of their abilities causes joint inflammation similar to arthritis.

Bakeneko (化け猫) - Changed Feline

Abilities: The Bakeneko have powers similar to that of a feline. They are very agile, flexible and quiet, they have excellent reflexes and can fall from great heights. They are also able to recognize another Drifter on sight.

The Bakeneko are also able to hypnotise an individual for a short time, however they are unable to force the individual to inflict harm on themselves or others.

Weakness: The Bakeneko have an uncontrollable temper, and fly into wild rages, causing themselves harm and occasionally harming others.

Ryūjin (龍神) - Dragon God

Alignment: Unknown

Abilities: The Ryūjin have immense physical strength, and are able to lift objects several times their own size. They also have powers of telekinesis - the ability to move or crush objects without touching them, though this is limited to objects in their direct line of sight.

Weakness: The Ryūjin has CIPA (congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis), their brain does not process nerve signals such as pain or pleasure, only pressure. They are unable to tell if they have been injured, and must consciously check their own body for damage, or else run risk of infection or permanent damage.

Amanojaku (天邪鬼) - Demon of Desires

Abilities: The Amanojaku has the ability to draw the forbidden desires out of an individual, so they feel compelled to act upon them, for a period of up to 24 hours.

Desires can include but are not limited to - sexual desires, violent desires, compassionate desires, self-harming desires

Weakness: After drawing out the desires of an individual, The Amaonjaku will feel the same compulsions, to a lesser extent. The stronger the desires in the individual, the stronger the affect it will have on The Amanojaku.

Shinigami (死神) - Death Spirit

Abilities: The Shinigami is able to evoke or diminish suicidal feelings in an individual. The strength to resist The Shinigami's influence depends on the individual.

They are also able to enter a trance state, and see the deaths that an invidivual has witnessed, or that have occurred within a specific space, e.g. a room. If the death has occurred within a lunar month, they are able to ask the deceased three questions.

Weakness: When The Shinigami use their ablities to see the dead, they share the physical sensations that the deceased felt at the moment of their death. The more severe the physical sensations, the more time the Shinigami needs to recover.

Baku (獏) - The Eater of Nightmares

Abilities: The Baku has the ability to soothe an individual by 'eating' the psychic energy generated from nightmares, as well as removing the unconscious memory of the nightmare. They are then able to store this psychic energy.

Once enough energy has been obtained they are able to enter the mind of a sleeper and witness what they are dreaming. They can choose to change the landscape of the sleepers dreams, and extract or implant information.

Weakness: The Baku suffers from Hypersomnia, the symptoms of which include headaches, over-tiredness, low appetite, confusion and short term memory loss.

This round is limited to 8 Drifters, with each Drifter already assigned their abilities. Each player is limited to one Drifter, with an option to pick up a second only if an active Drifter is abandoned.

Holds last for 72 hours, with option for one 24 hour extension.
