Dust in a convertible is never good
Who: Radek, Nesryn
What: Dinner stop
When: Evening of 'dustiness'
Where: Terrible's Roadhouse
The journey south had been both fruitful and frustrating, and Radek was glad to have been able to leave earlier than originally planned. It meant he could enjoy a relaxed drive home with the roof down on his 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible, and use the time to think a little more about the items he'd collected on his mission. He had plenty of time to make it back home to Henderson before midnight. He shifted in his seat a little though, now wishing he had made use of the men's room before departing, and deciding it might be good to make a stop at the Roadhouse in Searchlight.
The car slowed as he entered the town's limits, and he considered pulling into the gas station, but decided he preferred the apple pie Ronnie at the Roadhouse made, so continued on past the El Ray Hotel and indicating he was turning as he slowed. The car swung to the right and bumped across the grates into the parking area before rolling nicely to a stop in a parking bay.
Exiting the car he pocketed his keys, and out of habit felt the comfortable snug of his small dagger against his spine. Never leave home without it! his teacher had told him many centuries earlier. "You didn't know what airline security was going to be like?" he mumbled to himself as he turned. He was about to make his way into the Roadhouse when a vibration hit his ears, and he stopped. he looked around to see cloud of dust that seemed to be heading out of the carpark down at the El Ray Hotel, and he stared at it as it appeared to get closer.
"What??"
There was no wind, hardly any breeze, yet the dust seemed to get closer, swirling around and eddying first one way and then another.
"Oh no! I just had her cleaned!" he muttered, knowing there was little he was going to be able to do to stop his car from being full of dust in just a matter of seconds. So he hurried inside, stopping after closing the large glass door behind him, pressing his nose to the glass and watching as the cloud quickly ran through the car park.
