Radek had already carefully and precisely selected parts of his meal and loaded his fork, the utensil now halted, hovering over his plate as he looked at her. "It was not here before the dust boom thing?" he asked, a small crease appearing above the bridge of his glasses as he pushed them up his nose. He glanced toward the doors for a long moment, as if willing some answers to appear, then shrugged lightly as if the blank surfaces of the door had convinced him they would reveal no secrets.
"Maybe a power transformer has been damaged," he suggested, trying to think if he had ever seen one of the large units that would normally service a township of this size. As he chewed he realised he couldn't think of where one was.
