Entry tags:big bad wolf, willful child

Who: Shane, Shiloh and Aaron
What: Shane has a delightful hole in his stomach in need of stitching.
Where: 104
When: Immediately following this.
Warnings: Gore, mentions of wound stitching, and swearing likely.

All Shane wanted just now was to go to sleep. His vision was black around the edges and his head was light. It would be very easy just to lay back on the bed and pass out. Hell, it would be easy to pass out right now, and just let his body fall where it liked.

He focused on the pain throbbing in his side to keep himself awake and alert. Even exhausted as he was, he knew he couldn't afford to fall asleep, not when there was enough blood on his shirt to make not waking up a distinct possibility.

He kept one hand, still tipped with claws, wrapped around his stomach, covering the wound as he dully watched Shiloh fetch supplies to stitch him up with. God, he'd been stupid. This was it, for a while. He couldn't be hunting anyone down if it was going to endanger other people and nearly get him killed. This couldn't happen again, wouldn't happen again, and he wasn't going to continue his work until he was sure it wouldn't.

He didn't like Aaron's tone. It reminded him too much of the night before, particularly considering that...well, he was right. Not that it was a hard guess to make, but he wasn't used to the idea of anyone reading him correctly. "Who does?" he countered. "Like I said, I'll only be here as long as I have to be."

"Yeah, well, while you are, you can keep your needy revenge thing to yourself," Aaron said, sneering a little bit to keep the fragility out of his eyes. Nobody, not even the immortal, untouchable teenager, gets through a night like last night without getting a little fragile about it.

Shane missed the fragility entirely, too focused on the words. He stilled completely, staring at him.

"What did you say?"

Aaron's jaw stuck out stubbornly. "I said you can keep your stupid revenge thing to yourself," Aaron said again, not entirely ignorant of what he was getting into. "Shiloh is helping you, but if you think either of us are going to screw up your plan--" Aaron had no idea what that was, but Shane didn't need to know that, "--you'll try to get rid of us and don't think I don't know that. So keep it to yourself because if something happens to Shiloh I'll screw you over to the cops in a heartbeat."

Shane listened to him, every word compounding his frustration and confusion. How the hell had this kid found out? "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, and if Aaron wasn't aware of the waves of confusion and anger coming off of him, it would probably seem perfectly believable. "And I have no interest in hurting you or Shiloh," he said, using his full name after Aaron gave it. That statement, at least, was true. Shiloh had most likely saved his life, or saved him from the hospital and jail after that. Whatever his reasoning, Shane wasn't going to do him harm after something like that.

Aaron rolled his eyes up toward the ceiling. He had a lot of practice doing that. "Yeah, you don't right now, but you would if you thought you had to. So just don't. If you were Mr. Innocent you wouldn't be pissed at me right now. I can tell that too." Aaron turned away and ran his hand in front of a cupboard door before opening it and doing the same to the bowls inside.

Aaron kept talking about him as if he knew him, as if he understood how he worked inside and out. Nothing could have gotten under his skin more. "How?" Shane snapped before he could stop himself. Aaron's tests of the air around the things he was touching didn't go beneath his notice. He needed to know how Aaron was finding these things out, deducing them--sensing them, maybe? So that he could find a way to shut him out.

Good luck with that, wolf boy. "Magic." Aaron chose a bowl and clattered cereal into it, going so far as to show Shane his back just to prove he didn't care what he thought about it. Honestly, he didn't. As long as Shane knew he was just as much a threat to him as he was to them, that was all Aaron cared about.

Shane's fingers curled, his eyes wide and fixed. That wouldn't do. He moved toward him, intending to grab him, turn him around, make him talk. But that twisted at the wound in his stomach, and the subsequent spike of pain kept him from getting any further than the refrigerator. He leaned against it, regaining his balance. He couldn't stop Aaron from doing whatever he was doing, couldn't get him to tell him what it was, and the pain was just compounding everything. He could vent his frustrations on nothing. There was nothing for him to do here, no research he could go work on, no person he could go track to focus his anger at. All he could do was watch the smug little bastard rattle around the kitchen.

At least that seemed to sink through. Despite Shane's frustration and the fact that he never actually got close enough to touch Aaron, the boy--he looked a boy just then, eyes wide--knocked the bowl back in his haste to pull back away from Shane, putting the length of the kitchen between them. His pupils went wide and empty for the space of two blinks, and then he seemed to shake it off, jerking his head back into conscious thought. He set his teeth against Shane's anger, trying not to turn his irritation and fear into the rage just under the surface. It was just this guy, it wasn't him. He was angry, not Aaron. He just had to... separate it. Somehow. "You really need to work on the anger management," Aaron hissed through his teeth.

"And you," he said, pushing away from the refrigerator, "Need to get out of my head." Not that saying it out loud made it feel any less foolish, but he was more than tired of this. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't intrigued by how violently Aaron had reacted to his anger without him even laying a hand on him, but it wasn't as if that did him much good in the long run. He turned back toward the hallway, and began picking his careful way toward the bedroom. He was tense all over, and the wound in his side kept up a steady throb. That, at least, was consistent.

Shiloh had been out all evening, working, and he pushed open the door and stopped still when he saw Shane standing in the kitchen with Aaron. He hadn't expected Shane to be up so soon, and his expression was one of wary concern. He moved into the kitchen, smelling of sex and alcohol, lips kiss swollen, clothing mussed. "What's going on?" he asked, voice completely commanding, despite everything else.

Aaron had gone back to his cereal as Shane moved away, even though he had no appetite. He felt Shiloh's almost inhuman inner calm the moment he entered the apartment, but when he turned for a greeting he sensed something else. Someone else. Several other someones.

One made his skin crawl with the sick need for power, control with an unmistakable sexual twist. The second, felt as Shiloh spoke, was confused, so confused that for a moment Aaron thought that Shiloh himself was confused, an incongruous layer over that cool calm. Then the last came, less clear than the others, but rife with just need, empty and clutching, selfish needy greed. All of it was coming off Shiloh in waves confused with anticipation and satisfaction and the pain-pleasure of sex.

Aaron's stomach rolled.

Shane hadn't made it all the way to the hallway, and he turned when he heard Shiloh's voice. He looked disheveled, like he'd been out all night and was only just coming in now. He might have brushed that aside if it wasn't for Aaron's reaction, which he watched with growing interest. Something was not right here, he just didn't know what. "Just talking," he said flatly, his eyes still on Aaron, waiting to see if he would contest that or move straight to whatever was distracting him.

Shiloh looked back and forth between them, and he assumed the look on Aaron's face was Shane's doing. He looked at Shane, and he pointed to the bedroom. He kept his voice as calm and controlled as he could manage. "In there, if you would."

Aaron looked at Shane. This expression was new. It said, don't leave. Shane was now the one with the least amount of emotion, his curiosity sort of like a mild island of clean sand in increasingly choppy sea. His eyes flicked back to Shiloh. "He didn't do anything. Don't be mad." It was not quite a plea, not quite reassurance, but between. "Where have you been?" Aaron asked before he knew what he was asking. He stocking feet stepped to one side, deeper into the kitchen, an instinctual retreat, and his weight made the spilled cereal all over the tile crunch.

That surprised him. Aaron wanted him to stay in the room? He chose to go with that option as opposed to Shiloh's demand, for the moment. He stayed precisely where he was, halfway between the kitchen and the bedroom. He didn't really have the energy to be too angry with Aaron at this point, much too busy watching the pair of them for some clue as to what was going on beneath the surface, here.

If Shane was confused, Shiloh was even more confused. He knew Aaron could pick things up from bags of groceries and coats, but he didn't realize he carried the night's activities on his body for Aaron to absorb.

He walked closer to Aaron, stopping when Aaron edged back, gaze going to the spilling cereal, then back to Aaron's face. "It's me?" he asked, his emotions projecting how upset this made him, his confusion as to why.

"They're all over you." Aaron tried to hide his disgust, but he couldn't, he just didn't have that much control over his features. "How can you stand it?" Appetite now entirely lost, he took a step, as if to shove past Shiloh, but the whirl of poisoned lust made him sick. Worse, it was making him feel that greed, that want, and there wasn't anyone or anything he wanted that way--at least, not a few short minutes ago.

Shiloh finally understood what Aaron meant, what was bothering him, and the look on Aaron's face as he went to move past him made him recoil with hurt. "I didn't realize, Aaron," was his response, and the words were imbued with regret. He didn't apologize or justify, and he excused himself from the room, assuming a change of clothes and a shower would best handle things.

As he passed Shane, he looked at him. "Stay with him, please." It wasn't a question that he was going to take 'no' as an answer for, and he ducked into his room quickly and closed the door behind himself.

Aaron's expression twisted again, and the moment Shiloh's door slammed closed, he turned, crunching over the tile, and bent over the sink, fighting to keep that handful of Lucky Charms down.

Shane leaned against the wall, watching Shiloh leave before his gaze flicked back over to Aaron. Where ever his anger had come from it was gone now, back under lock and key.

He was fairly sure he knew at least a little of what had just happened, or what had been implied by it anyway. He chose to focus on Aaron instead of that, limping a few steps closer with the help of the wall. "Are you alright?" he asked, cautiously, and not without real concern. Idiot or not, Aaron was still very young, and he looked like he might be physically sick.

"Peachy," Aaron retched, without actually throwing anything up. "Sit down before you tear your stomach open." He didn't want to throw up in front of the jerk, but he didn't think he was going to make it to the bathroom. Closing his eyes, he tried to push all that away. Don't want any, not like that, don't want don't want don't WANT.

Shane was halfway to the kitchen table anyway. If he had to stick around in this room, it wasn't going to be standing, he wasn't sure how much longer he could. He settled gingerly into a chair, slinging one arm over the back of it. "Who are they?" he asked. "Do you know?" The question might piss him off, but it would distract him if nothing else.

There were far too many scents clinging to Shiloh for one person, and traces of them were still in the room. Cheap wine. Baby powder. Expensive perfume. Good cologne. Sweat, whiskey, latex, sex. It wasn't all that hard to add up.

Aaron got control of his stomach but he didn't try to lift his head yet. He ran water and stuck his mouth under it. Coughing some of it out, he put his elbows against the counter and breathed. "No. Just what they wanted--" Not going to be sick. Not going to be sick. "--from him." He wasn't going to say that for a minute he wanted it too. Otherwise he really was going to be sick. At least the emotion wasn't specifically focused toward Shiloh in particular. Aaron probably would have left then, still in his socks and his bear pajamas, maybe found a damn hole to dig and hide in.
