Fuck this building, I don't even know why I'm doing this If it wasn't for Lotte

I'm not getting locked up in the basement, so don't try it

Why the hell did I even come here in the first place

I know this is a rather hectic time, considering you've decided to set yourselves back a couple hundred years what's been going on lately, but I feel this is as good a time as any to to say this.

You're all aware that one of the fables within the building is the Phantom of the Opera, also known as Erik. I can't and won't deny that he is dangerous, and should be avoided at all costs during the full moon. Considering the audio posts used during the last one, some of you are likely aware that Erik's voice came from my apartment number.

So yes, he is my fable counterpart or whatever the hell you call it. It's come to my attention that Christine made a post during that night, however, claiming that Erik and I are the same. As I hope everyone realizes, we aren't our fables, and I'm certainly not him. I plan on doing my best to keep him away from people during subsequent full moons, but I thought I should say this publicly and let everyone know that Christine was misinformed. Not that I need to justify myself to you people None of you are in any position to judge

If any of you fucking show up at my door after this, it'll be the last thing you ever do

A word of advice: quit while you're behind. They don't get it. They won't ever get it. They'll condemn you then boo-boo you for being upset about it. Lay low and hopefully this whole thing will just blow over when Hannibal Lecter shows up.

I never should have listened to Lotte I knew this was a bad idea, but a [...] friend was worried and wanted me to do it. Laying low was my original plan until Erik decided to publicly speak from my apartment number.

Sounds like they're going to be busy with that Trenton guy anyways.

I recommend duct tape next time. Lots of it. Why are these fable-people so dumb? Or maybe do your best to get laryngitis right before the next full moon.

Yeah, it's [...] a big distraction. I hate witch hunts. I just hope it doesn't turn into the French Revolution Bellum-style.

Oh, he'll love that. Unfortunately he's fairly good at getting out of things like that - that's why trying to lock myself in my apartment probably wouldn't work. The laryngitis thing might work though.

This is only the beginning How long do you think it'll take before we're on trial for what our fables do? I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Crafty tales suck. It'd be so much easier if they were afraid of technology. That way we could herd them all in a big room and surround them with TVs playing horrible reality shows and animated movies. They'd be contained for hours.

That's the worst part. You want to think you're wrong in anticipating what comes next, but you kind of know you're totally right.

Unfortunately most of them are either fascinated by it, or share some of their counterpart's awareness and aren't as confused as they normally would have been.

The outlook for heading down this road isn't good.

No kidding. By all logic, Erik and Christine shouldn't have been able to do anything but stare in amazement at the magic glowing books.

No it's not. But with all the angst going around right now, I figure if the "at risk" people - I don't give a shit what they say, they do hold "villains" with suspicion - just don't do anything retarded, we'll be able to get through this.

Logic isn't very prevalent here. I think we've scared it away.

I'd find their denial funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Are we really supposed to believe that the 'dangerous' fables aren't targeted? Really?

Poor thing. Do you think it could be brought back if I baked it cookies?

No kidding. And define "dangerous," anyway. Anybody could be dangerous if they wanted to be. It's not our fault we got stuck with stupid characters that would rather cackle evilly than volunteer at the soup kitchen. It isn't us. They say that, then act like we're going to bring down this building brick by brick just by existing. You said it best: pathetic. They assume we're all retarded or something, I swear.

They'd have to be pretty damn good cookies.

Going on their train of thought, probably fables that do something considered 'evil' or 'dangerous' in their stories. Of course, this is all a matter of opinion, which doesn't include as much of the majority as they like to pretend. At least someone in this building is aware of reality

Damn. I couldn't do it, mine all end up a little burned on one side. Maybe we could find somebody to bake them. I'm sure there's at least 5 Betty Crocker types in this building that would love to donate baked goods to the cause.

But "evil" is relative. Sure, there are some "villains" that just soak up the evil and bathe in baby's blood. But a lot of them are just doing what they want, and people just [...] people don't call themselves evil. The most evil people are the ones that are convinced they're right. To us, they're all evil.

I've never baked anything in my life, and I think I'd end up burning down the building if I tried. Which is starting to seem like a better alternative It's probably a rule of apartment buildings that there was to be at least one Betty Crocker type in residence for these kinds of situations.

What's your fable again? Exactly. They made flyers about the Phantom like he's some kind of terrorist or something. Putting up with other people's moral superiority gets pretty irritating after a while.

Yeah, there's a Stereotype Roster that has to be filled for every New York apartment complex. If it's not, somebody comes to the complex and shuts it down.

I saw those. That sucks, man. People can be such douchebags. And of course they're no better, so there's no point to it all. They just want to feel better about themselves.

I'm starting to think shutting this place down might not bee such a bad thing.

It almost makes me want to pity them and their delusional ways of making themselves feel better. Almost, but not quite.

I'd agree, but it's really close to where I work. It'd be a pain in the ass to actually commute.

Rule one: never pity the stupid people. If you pity them, you might begin to believe that they're actually human and as such would stop being able to mock or torment them for your amusement.

Oh, this building is clever. It's like a Venus fly trap - once you're in, it's near impossible to get out.

I don't think I'll ever have to worry about that. I've seen a lot of stupid people over the years, and I've never crossed the line between mocking and pity.

The allure of walking to work and being surrounded by neighbors that make me look well-adjusted by comparison is just too much. If you opened up a rival apartment complex with gold floors, I might consider leaving.

That's good to hear. Once you pity, it's all over. It's why I like to watch my stupid people from behind one-way glass in the middle of the night.

So gold floors hold more allure than poorly adjusted, less-than-sane neighbors?

Maybe you can tell me: do stupid people sleep like the rest of society, or is their stupidity evident even when they're not awake?

Gold floors are much more alluring than a band of rag-tag misfits just trying to get along in a wacky situation that screams "early afternoon sitcom." But they have to be gold, not yellow. Gold can't eat people.

It all depends on the stupid person. They're all unique, you know - like clumpy, poorly-formed snowflakes. But I've noticed that in some instances, they'll make this very strange jerking motions with their right arm, almost like they're raising it in class. I've always wanted to know what question they're trying to answer, but some things are just a mystery of science.

True, but they could be distracting enough to allow walls, stairs, or pillars to appear out of nowhere and cause moderate to serious bodily harm.

Really? And here I thought they were basically all the same. If you ever happen to find out what question they try so hard to answer in their sleep, though, let me know.

That'd be great. You walk into this building with beautiful gold floors. You're so distracted by their beauty that you don't notice the unconscious bodies strewn about the place in awkward positions, and you soon meet a fate that lands you right there with the rest of them. Hiring janitors and maids to staff that place would suck.

I sure will. We can author a paper on it and be the first Doctors of Stupidology. We'd be revered heroes for our tireless work on the Stupid Condition.

At least their state of unconsciousness would make things run smoothly. The landlord wouldn't have to worry about very many tenant complaints.

I've always wanted to be able to add a 'Dr.' to the front of my name.

But unconscious people drool, and that would tarnish the floors eventually I'd imagine. Also, if they hit their heads hard enough, they might bleed all over the place. That couldn't be good for the floors.

And so you will! And since you're also a Mr, you can be Dr. Mr. or Mr. Dr. How cool is that?

Gold is fairly resilient, I think. The only issue would be finding people willing to clean up that kind of mess - to entice applicants, landlords could advertise the fact that it allows ample opportunity to laugh at the expense of others. There are always people who love that.

It's so cool I'm not sure I can handle it, really.

But how would you collect rent? I don't know how well unconscious people can make pay days, unless there's a "pocket money is fair game" rule. Or instead of renting apartments, they rent the square feet of area they pass out on.

It takes a very strong person to admit that they can't handle enough coolness. I think that that quality alone makes you more than capable of doing so. Embrace your coolness, Dr. Mr.
